That is so awesome! My Dad bought one of those brand new in 1970, same color. I wish I could post a photo of it here somehow. It didn't have those wheels, though. It had the Dodge full wheel cover hub caps, they still looked cool. I remember that car being extremely fast when I was a kid, riding in the back seat. He liked to race people at red lights, I do remember that too. I wish he had kept it, but you know, back then, when the gas prices started going up, he sold it sometime around 1973 or 74.
Since I was a kid there was always something about the Dart Swinger that I loved. Simply one of the best looking muscle cars every built. The Swinger just has this menacing stance and the hood scoops with the racing stripe around the back end just sets the car off.
My brother bought a '70 equipped much like this one, but more understated: no stripes and plain, dogdish hubcaps. After he was seriously injured, I had the car for several years. Oh, the adventures we had in that car. And it was fast. I came to realize, only too late, that this car was a fine "poor man's BMW 2002", which was, at that time, the object of my affection. I was too young to realize I had been driving a worthy rival of the 2002 without ever fully appreciating it.
I had one just like it, same color with white vinyl top and stripe. The interior was all dark green without the light inserts. Was a good fast car in a straight line but cornered like a bus. The brakes were really bad as well.
My first car was one of these back in 1976. Because it came with the optional 4 piston disc brakes on the front, pain to rebuild, it saved my butt many times while drag racing. Once I was doing a top end run and had to do a panic stop from 125 mph. Braked perfect. Now I wouldn't recommend doing that over and over, but I never went faster than 100 mph afterwards. no, it didn't corner that well, but for a 16 year olds 1st car it was great. 42 years later and I still miss it.
I had one is Sassy Grass Green. Best car ever.
