Also from the NI Komplete collection: The Kontakt library Kinetic Metal with Motion activated and processed with an effects chain consisting of EchoMelt 2, ColourCopy and Blackhole to taste makes for some really tense soundscapes.
But Kinetic Toys is currently my favorite for all sorts of interesting evolving soundscapes.

Hi! Who are the developers of those effects? Thanks!

Kinetic Metal is my bread and butter for textures. Takes a lot of CPU though, so I'll soon have to bounce when I use more than 4-5 patches... :/

Geosonics is another Soniccouture goody worth exploring for this sort of use.
Am old enough to remember Chris Watson as part of Cabaret Voltaire, one of the strangest bands to come out of the post punk explosion. Nag Nag Nag was a classic, I still have the 7” single.

Oh boy, I'm all about 'em spooks! :D
    Edit: some of my favorites:
Kinetic Metal - for intangible textures. Good with lo-fying so nothing is "understandable".
Titanium Rhythm - An old BFA sample pack from many years ago (can't find copies on amazon/ebay anymore...). Amazing for heavy HEAVY percussive sounds.
Spitfire Glass & Steel - For layering and contrast. Sounds pretty and prestine. You can gradually bring on textures and percussion more seamlessly. Has nice drones too.

Glass and Steel is key for mood. Haven’t heard of Titanium...will check it out.

The most obvious example of it's use is from this old song from SH4:
      ua-cam.com/video/_XutgeGcqV0/v-deo.html
I think everything in that one is TR, except the choir, and the... moaning?

@@karlhans6678 Distortion, bit-crusing, adding noise. General audio degradation on KM is amazing imo! :P

Man, LCO Strings is super tempting for those creepy violin tremolos alone. But similar results can be had with other libraries, maybe with divisi splits with a little subtle detune between them. Even on sale, that's quite an asking price for something I'd personally be buying for just a few violin articulations. Although, I don't write ethereal or tense film scores (yet!), but it would totally be perfect for that.

Hi, a simple trick to avoid continuous auto-focus problems: turn it off and focus manually on the pop filter. You may get out of the DOF here and there, but it's better than camera trying to compensate every time you move your head a little. Great stuff otherwise :)

Yes, people sometimes need to be nudged to subscribed. I did. :) Great choice for creepy music. I would add The Dark Side from EastWest. It has it's drawbacks. Some of distorted samples breakup and could be better. But it comes with the ComposersCloud and I use it a fair amount.

Hi Jeff, have you tried Vienna Symphonic Library's Big Bang Orchestra "Regulus"? Very scary strings like Penderecki's score from "The Shining". I would definitely add BBO Regulus to your list.

    All good stuff!
I have the Spitfire LCO strings and think it is superb. I saw Woody (Woody Piano Shack) playing with Kinetic Toys and thought that it looked interesting too.
Incidentally, I like the new camera angle, but is there some sort of auto focus madness going on? :-)

    • @ManchesterMusic
      @ManchesterMusic  5 років тому +1

Yeah, I’ll figure out the auto focus stuff. It’s actually fun to start, see a bunch of mistakes and then learn to master the camera after a few videos. Appreciate the feedback!

It didn't spoil my enjoyment. I like to mess with stuff out of the box too and only end up at RTFM or on UA-cam 'How to.....' videos when I'm really stumped (or tight for time) :-)
