Your time-related tangent is so relatable!!! And the people who complain about terminology in sci-fi are completely missing the point of sci-fi and they should go choke! You do you! Call space whatever you want!
Love this video! I planned to read BS books but I got too intimidated 🙈. It’s a lot to commit to. You or someone should come up with a reading challenge to read short books within a week 🤔🤓. It could be called “Tiny Topple” lol! Imagine how much reading could get done 😄
I'm really hype for the point you get to the Liveship Trilogy part of Robyn Hobb's Elderlings universe. Just cause you'll be like "FINALLY I FOUND A PIRATE SERIES. YEESSS" Even though its more sailory than piratey at times.
Hi, Samantha. This is the first time I am participating in 'tome topple'. Today, I am starting "Magister Ludi: The Glass Bead Game" by Hermann Hesse (558 pages); reading this also for German author November. The one other large tome I read earlier this year was "The Bone People" by Kerii Hulme (553 pages) set in New Zealand. "Magister Ludi" has been on my TBR since the 1960s.
A little late to the party, but about continuing series you've started.. I actually reserve half my TBR for the month for continuing series. I've been working on getting my TBR shelf down for so long, but I ended up in the middle of so many series that I couldn't remember what the books were about anymore. Which of course, spiked my anxiety horribly. Knowing that I have slots in my TBR set aside for continuing series helps so much. Maybe saving a slot or two on your TBR for this would help? Of course, you would have to balance it against trying to get your TBR shelves way down.. Or you could go completely crazy and just do a whole month of continuing series. 😄
Never scold the precious Tali for making an offscreen appearance. She clearly needs your undivided attention. 😆😆 I just love her. I read the first book in The Expanse series and absolutely loved it. I have book 2, but haven’t continued yet. I need to. Oh and there are 8 books out in the series....it’s going to take me forever to catch up. 🤦🏼♀️
I actually started Tome topple with A Court of Mist and Fury!! The second book I started is Born of Night by Sherrilyn Kenyon. And it's my first time around with this readathon.
I discovered Queen of the Tearling thanks to you and I loved it so much ❤️ I think Invasion might be my favorite if the three. From what I've seen, the last one is very polarizing and I get why. I still liked it though and I hope you'll do too 😊
I'm reading Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson (I've previously read only his book Skyward) but I have about five other books from the library hovering between 380 and 450 pages, plus a huge two book set of Nausicaa Valley of the Wind which . . . I can't count, according to your rules! So officially just the one. But I will be reading the library books that will be due soon, so --there you have it!
I read all 3 books that are currently out I The Diviners series by Libba Bray durring a round of Tome Topple and they became one of my Top 3 fav Series of all time. :)
I loved the Tearling trilogy! Kelsea is such an amazing and inspiring character! Lots of people disliked the third book but I love that too! Acomaf is one of my favorite books and the Hades and Persephone theme is the best I read yet! Loved also Red Seas Under Red Skies, I love Locke 💕
I hope you binge through the rest of the expanse series. The final book is expected out late 2020 so you're timing would be perfect! I'd love to re-read along with you if you do a giant buddy read with your subs. =)
EEEE was not expecting the shoutout! In truth, I forgot I rec'd this, lol. And your first attempt was correct on the last name, like "you may ski down the mountain" :D I like to break my series up too, and doing one a month is a great idea; we should talk about that. So excited to start Round 9 today!
I read ACOMAF as a standalone too. It's my go to if I can't decide on anything else to read or if I had a bad day and need to escape for a bit. I love love love love the friendships in the Nigh Court. And I read all of the Tearlings series. I liked it...but when I realized the world...I was like...huh...and didn't know how to feel about it? I absolutely binge read it in like, one weekend, though. I did love the story.
This is my first time doing Tome Topple! I plan on FINALLY reading a Brandon Sanderson book, The Final Empire! And then I have 5 other options, but I don't know which ones yet after that.
I love the expanse too, and I feel the same way I want to read the next but in been over a year, time flys now I feel I need to reread, it's really good and there is also novellas too that are good.
I wasn't planning on joining in because the big books I am working on right now are anthologies or omnibus editions, but now I can because The Toll by Neal Shustermsn finally arrived and is over 600 pages. Also, first time participating.
So strange suggestion but would you be willing do do a video on your reading habits during anxiety flare ups. I also have super bad anxiety and would love to here how you overcome reading slumps.
I reread individual books out of series ALLLLL the time!! ACOMAF is my favorite in the ACOTAR series (didn’t really like that first book, tbh) & I know you don’t love it, but I reread the TOG series but I just read books 3-5 🤣. I might finally read Brandon Sanderson for TT. I realized I read long books so much that I get annoyed when I read a short book & want more plot!
I want to participate in Tome Topple but Nanowrimo is kicking my butt. Maybe if I catch up I’ll read Renegade by Marissa Meyer. Started it earlier this year but put it down for no reason whatsoever.
I’ve been watching you for years. We have the same tastes in books (except for the Red Sister series. Couldn’t really get into it). I know you’re not really adding to your TBR. I also know you don’t like being told what to do. Lol :) So I’ll just leave this here: For a laugh out loud, easy read, awesome bromance: The Greatcoats Series. Have a great day Sam! 😁💕
The Fate of the Tearling was amazing, I loved it so much! It's one of my all-time favorite series. I loved ACOMAF, even if I'm mad that the series is getting smuttier with each book. I feel like since ACOMAF SJM thinks we're here for the smut. It's disappointing how it all turned out...
I am not participating this round, because Im doing Nanowrimo this month, so I am focusing my energy elsewhere - but luck and good wishes to everyone who is!
Oh my gosh i feel the exact same way about ACOMAF! That book is one of my all time favorites of all time, maybe even my number one, yet I don't think SJM's books excluding that one are all that good. Throne of Glass series was just meh for me, especially the later books, and even the ones in ACOTAR just don't cut it for me. I absolutely hated the first book and I don't know why I picked up the second, but hey, at least that turned out good for me.
I'm about halfway through Abaddon's Gate, and I am really not enjoying, but I LOVED the first two, and my friend who is lending me the books, keeps telling me that the fourth book will reel me back in, so I'm going to just have to try to push through it. Holden is........... a lot to deal with for this many pages.
If it helps, the third one definitely has a very different pacing/tone than the other books in the series. The POVs also start expanding further away from Holden as the series goes on, he's still a main character for sure but the other characters get more of a voice.
@@Bibliofilth That's what my friend keeps telling me. I'm not worried about it. I'll give it another book or two before I give up. Since the first two were so good, I have to believe the series will get back to that. But thank you for the encouragement!
Do yourself a favor and don’t finish the Tearling series... the third one is one of the worst books I’ve ever read and I really liked the previous ones
Your time-related tangent is so relatable!!! And the people who complain about terminology in sci-fi are completely missing the point of sci-fi and they should go choke! You do you! Call space whatever you want!
I have always said that Elantris is underrated inside Sanderson's catalog.
Nikki yes! It’s actually one of my favorite books!
This is great to hear! I just got myself a copy and am so excited to read it!
I really enjoyed the mystery aspect of it
I’m reading it at the moment, great to hear it’s a favourite for some!
Love this video! I planned to read BS books but I got too intimidated 🙈. It’s a lot to commit to.
You or someone should come up with a reading challenge to read short books within a week 🤔🤓. It could be called “Tiny Topple” lol! Imagine how much reading could get done 😄
Completely forgot Tome Topple starts today, I'm going to have to get a hustle on!
Hazel Clarke 💃

Kinda weird complement incoming...... Your skin looks bomb!
Hayley Cochran omg thank you it’s not weird I’ve struggled with it in the past and it’s in a good place now
I was about to comment that as well!

When you said "mad magician", I heard "mathematician". As a mathematician, I approve! 😁
Foundryside is just so darn good. I can’t wait for the sequel.

I have been reading The Stormlight Archive during the last couple of Tome Topple readathons. I just love those books. (maja)
I discovered Queen of the Tearling thanks to you and I loved it so much ❤️ I think Invasion might be my favorite if the three. From what I've seen, the last one is very polarizing and I get why. I still liked it though and I hope you'll do too 😊
for my first ever Tome Topple I read Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke and it's still one of my favorites! :D
Such a great book!

I read the first Mistborn last TomeTopple and absolutely loved it!

I hope you binge through the rest of the expanse series. The final book is expected out late 2020 so you're timing would be perfect! I'd love to re-read along with you if you do a giant buddy read with your subs. =)

Sure! although I definitely don't feel like I have that mastered at all.. I'm still feeling slumpy myself.
I just had the exam same freak out about not reading enough of my tbr so I just want to say : good luck with yours!
thank you :)

Have a great day Sam! 😁💕
I've read the first Greatcoats book and plan to continue!
Currently in the middle of a tome right now. Queen of Fire by Anthony Ryan.
There are going to be 9 books in the Expanse series right now with the last book coming some time next year
Marcus ugh yay I love that
'I like to think about it as a standalone' me staring at my bookshelf where I've only kept acomaf out of all of her books
oooo I really need to read The Tearling series!
I'm going to read Middlegame for this round.
The Fate of the Tearling was amazing, I loved it so much! It's one of my all-time favorite series.

My favorite readathon
Elantris has been on my TBR way too long!
There’s actually 8 Expanse books! And they’re all great
There’s a 9th book coming out next year too!
Totally forgot about it being the ninth!!! How?!😱😱 Anyway, now I need to decide which one I want to read for this one.
I thought the Queens of Innis Lear would have been on here for sure! Was that a TT book?
I don't think so...
My first time participating gonna read mistborn, queen of shadows and hopefully priory of the orange tree
My favorite books were: the millennium trilogy, the city of Brass and Kingdom of copper, storm of swords... Etc
rimbluebooks YES Kingdom of Copper 🧡
@@hellohaley45 can't wait for Empire of gold
rimbluebooks me too!!

Maia Gaia ok Holden is kinda the worst so I get that lol
@@ThoughtsOnTomes but most of the other characters are great, and the story is really interesting, so I guess I'll have to deal with him

I'm reading sleeping beauties by Stephen King for tome topple 700 pages
I've never been a part of tome topple before cause big books scare me lol
Don't fret about reading something a year ago. A year is not that much time.
A good boy got pets before this video
Do yourself a favor and don’t finish the Tearling series... the third one is one of the worst books I’ve ever read and I really liked the previous ones
micaela fernandez alvi people are so polarized on it. Some love it and some hate it. I wanna see where I stand.
Yeah read it and see how you like it. I haven’t been on broad with the ending so I just made up my own and it’s far more enjoyable 🙃😙👌🏾
you had me at pirate book WELP
