My dad used to sing this to my brother and I on the train on our way home from or back to boarding school in the early 70s. We'd be embarassed but I've always loved the song. I actually prefer my dads version (bit biased). Thx for posting.
As my mother says Jerry Lewis had looks , the voice the money the way to make the world laugh, the style , he had it all .. acting dancing.. the Man is Genius! Dam .. he seriously must had good Mama ! He Amazing really... he not gone ^ he left to much behind him. Music 🎶
At this point in their careers, Martin and Lewis hardly spoke to each other, except for the dialog on set. Their collaboration as actual "pardners" was soon to end forever. They worked together for exactly 10 years.
It's sad that Jerry and Dean weren't good pals at that time :( They started to get in trouble with each other... read jerry's book "DEAN & ME", it's great! But anyhow, I love this movie, watched it when I was 10, I fell in love with the crazyness and the musical score.
Jerry wasn't getting fat, he was maturing into a man. he was skinny kid due to poor nutrition and his high anxiety. He looks delicious in this movie..looks his best in the 60's from Nutty Professor to Ladies Man 1963 and beyond. He is far better looking, and more likable, than Dean. Hell he still looks decent at almost 86.
Random observation... notice how much Jerry's height shifts, from when he's standing next to Dean and 'slouching' (he must be really bending his knees, 'cause it looks like he's standing straight!), and then at his full height when he's further away.
Jerry was slightly taller than Dean, it's not true they were the same tall. But in order to make Dean the "higher in rank", the big brother, he had to play crouch to look shorter than Dean.
Isn't it strange, each time Dean sings, Jerry forgets how to walk!!! At the end of this movie, Jerry and Dean have a talk with the audience. Jerry thanks everyone for coming to see their movies. He tells how they are partners and will always be partners. Of course, Jerry was wrong. I personally think they broke up, because Dean feared for his life, he was afraid that he might be kicked in the head by a boot, when Jerry did his spastic walk. Not many people know this, but after watching this scene, Nancy Sinatra was inspired to sing,,,,"Jerry's boots are made for stomping and that's what they are going to do, they are going stomp Dean in the head." (I think Nancy had to change some of the words, because Jerry wanted 50% of the profit from her recording.)
@52vegeta52 yeah, actually they did. In Dean and Me Jerry writes that after the telethon with Sinatra they started calling eachother every once in a while and they were talking more frequently. They talked about how much they love eachother and how they could've let their friendship go to waste. Jerry went to Dean's son's funeral in secret. They made up.
It's very sad watching this. According to Jerry this was a miserable time for he and Dean. They were just acting for the cameras. Sometimes I wish they hadn't made movies. Seems like that was the beginning of the end. Their nightclub act plus the Colgate comedy hour appearances were electrifying. You could just sense their love and affection for one another, their closeness. They were one of a kind
Can you blame Dean Martin for leaving the act? His role went from partner to a stand-in. Even Jerry Lewis admitted that he would have left the act years before the break-up had the roles been reversed. The critics were the ones that ended up with egg on their faces when they wrote that Dean’s career was finished after he and Jerry broke up the act in 1956. While Dean’s TV and movie career was on the upswing, Jerry’s was going downhill. If it wasn’t for the annual MDA telethons, the general public might have never seen Jerry, except for guest shots on talk shows. Dean meanwhile was a powerhouse at NBC with his weekly program and later the ‘roasts’ that he hosted.
I wouldn't say Jerry went downhill directly after the split. He had a plethora of hit movies and was pretty much the most famous man on earth. Later on the only thing keeping Jerry in the lime light was the mda telethons but even after that he starred in the King of comedy and he was right back on track after that.
Jerry Lewis was a WORLD hit! He was Paramount's golden boy after the breakup. The most powerful man in Hollywood. At the beginning of the 70s a special ranking of the most recognized faces IN THE WORLD was added and it was placed in fourth place on an equal footing with Pope John Paul II. You toxic Dean Martin fans are hateful. Jerry had a downturn in the 1970s just because he was addicted to Percodan but in 1978 he found a way to relieve back pain and went back to making films. He was operated on twice on the spine. He has been awarded eight times as best director in Europe, received the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the Venice Film Festival, second only to the American Oscars, was awarded in Cannes, Germany, etc. He is LOVED in Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, Australia, all of South America. While Dean Martin was now retired. Jerry has toured all over the world. Dean Martin remained in Las Vegas.
lee evans does a slight copying of jerry lewis's walk and a total rip off of norman wisdom. Nothing beets these two together. I grew up with a big crush on Jerry. Maybe thats why i like allan from two and a half men. ohhhhhhhh dear

They're just so adorable! ^^
What an irony, that Dean & Jerry were no longer 'pardners' by the time that movie was released :(
I remember them all. Right back to 1956.
At this point in their careers, Martin and Lewis hardly spoke to each other, except for the dialog on set. Their collaboration as actual "pardners" was soon to end forever. They worked together for exactly 10 years.
jerry: you who you who.. owl: who who..... jerry: you got no u on your who :D lol funny moment jerry is the best!!!
Better times, long gone.
Omg how can Deane’ keep a straight face while Jerry acts funny 😂. Oh 🤣
It's sad that Jerry and Dean weren't good pals at that time :( They started to get in trouble with each other... read jerry's book "DEAN & ME", it's great!

they weren't getting along? I haven't read the book yet, and I'm a huge Jerry Lewis fan. But they made up later right?

que triste!!!!!!! Las cosas ya no estaban bien aqui.

I always thought that Jerry Lewis was basically unfunny, and still do. I only watched Martin and Lewis films because I liked Dean's singing.
Yep, ol Jer was getting fat by this time. One more movie and they'd be finished even though they were offered millions to make more movies.
