Porsche should be more discriminating as to who should have the privilege of having one of these track monsters. And yet he rather choose to have AMG’s 🤮 that are no where close in racing pedigree to the 70+ years that Porsche have been developing race cars for the road/track. AMG’s are overweight, but I guess that is what Timmy likes 😉
I wonder if test drivers ever get bored of their jobs. Like... they wake up in the morning and just stare at the ceiling for 10 minutes, thinking of excuses to avoid going to work. No. I don't think so, either.
Ikr? Lmao. The boredom! Of taking some hopped up thing like that, running around the ring? Something is resonating at the higher engine speeds. Sounds "tinny". Sharkwerkes should be able to rectify that. I would think it would be quicker but it probably does not have a 500 bhp powerplant. Even though... it out handles a 911 so I imagine the gear ratios aren't ideal. I'd still like it - especially a manual version.
Comparing the gear ratios of 718 GT4 RS: 1st gear: ? 2nd gear: ~108km/h 3rd gear: ~156km/hr 4th gear: ~195km/hr 5th gear: ~233km/hr 6th gear: ~275km/hr Against the 718 GT4 (PDK) 1st gear: 73.1km/h 2nd gear: 124.7km/h 3rd gear: 172.8km/h 4th gear: 219.3km/h 5th gear: 264.4km/h 6th gear: 324.4km/h That's almost 25% shorter gear ratio in 2nd gear! Also, it appears top speed is going to be achieved in 7th gear instead of 6th gear as we briefly see it hit 286km/hr in 7th
I'm impressed by the mid-corner grip of the car and how early Jörg could get on the gas. The car picks up like it's a twin turbo, yet it is naturally aspirated. I saw a top speed of about 283kph in 7th which is impressive. Awesome!
agreed for the track, the gt4 rs is closing the gap on supercars (but it will be close to supercar money at 150ish), but on the street, not so much... for example, having driven both a c8 and an f8, the former is no where near the f8 in terms of speed, acceleration, and handling, as well it should be being over 200K more than a c8. The 0-60 test numbers for the c8 are a bit of a red herring as it doesn't run those numbers in real life - its more new m4 sports car fast (3.5ish territory) than porsche turbo supercar fast (sub 3 territory). still a great relatively fast sports car with great value (just gotta fix the design from the 3/4 to the back!)
That noise from 8-9 is so special. The noise form 7-8 on my 718 GT4 feels special already, I can't imagine what that extra 1000rpm sounds like in the car
It looks like two problems. The first seems to be that he car didn't apply the brakes fully (faulty ABS system?). The second that the car really didn't want to turn in. You can see the driver rocking the car into many of the corners (by lifting off and transferring weigh forward) to get it through the lap.
The car can do more than that, trust me, more to come on Nurburgring lap times, you just have to wait for the production version to come out, maybe manthey racing is going to make it even more crazier.
When the GT4RS passed the gantry at the back straight, it was going at 230kph. It's crazy to think the 919 evo at that point was nearly doing that... in mph.
9k rpm, 7 min ring time, 7 speed pdk, proper weapon. Should have built the rs years ago. Perfect for all the car collectors to hide away in a temperature controlled garage where the people that would use them can't see them.
