Well you two (I hope this gets me back into Sue's good books). This vlog was by far, the best one you have done so far in terms of information and history. Better than any other vlogger I have seen thus far. The history of the place was brought to life by your superb narrative and video. The houses were built in a Cantilever style. Also known as Jettying, often used for timber-framed buildings, but was succeeded by cantilever, which were used for the same reason as jettying, to maximise space in buildings. This is often utilised on buildings that are on a narrow plot and space is at a premium. The other buildings you showed on your walkabout looked like mock Tudor to me. Not the real thing, as were the Georgean style windowed house. All very very very nice though. Well done you two. ❤ Can I come off the naughty step now, please.🎉
Thanks Harry - that’s a lovely message to receive 😍 We’re glad you enjoyed it!! We enjoyed our wander around there too. The cantilever idea totally makes sense and given how tight the footprint/plot was it was necessary on that building. Mock Tudor seems to be the consensus but when you stand there my word they look authentic. A lovely area for sure. Ps consider yourself off the naughty step 🤣🤣👍
Thanks for that Thomas!! We’ll take that every day of the week 😍 Ps sent you a reply via Patreon to your message from yesterday so please let us know if it hasn’t arrived for any reason 👍
Hi Elliott and Sue, thanks so much for the in depth look at Worsley Delph and all the research you done. You done a really great job. I’ve heard some stuff about it on other channels but yours was much more extensive. Those letters the kids wrote were rather sad though 😢 have a great week guys
OH MY WORD Graham! Sorry for that. I was wondering if you were popping off for a little Delph cruise?? Ps was it me or were you listening to a Podcast or the radio or something on the back? That is hilarious 🤝✊
@@NarrowEscape1 I got grounded winding, though I have always wanted to pop down there (might have to get a dinghy though) I'll have been either listening to an audiobook or some cheesy music 😂
You guys cover the parts that other narrowboaters miss or take for granted. Thanks for another fine, informative vlog. I have often wanted to take a closer look at the Delph but you are the first to properly take me there.
Thanks Andy - what a lovely thing to say 😍 This vlog did last longer…about 6 times as long as it did in edit because Sue kept on getting towards the end of her pieces and forgetting her train of thought 🤣🤣 It is so difficult when you don’t script things though to just say what you want and be factually correct 🤣 We’re both well thanks. For us it’s been the wind and the cold. Pretty biting where we are but I keep reminding My Angel it’s all part of the fun 😱😬 Hope the weather isn’t causing you too much grief?
@NarrowEscape1 I work at hinkley piont the new nuclear powerstation , or it's going to be when it's finished 😅 its 320 miles for me to get here , I work 10 days on 4 off , I'm a welder 👨🏭 i work underground so I'm not to affected by the weather ,
Oh wow. No pressure then when welding on a nuclear power station 😱😱 With a 320 mile commute no wonder you work 10 days on the trot - gosh!! What do you do for accommodation, hotels or rent a house?
the reason that the stories get bigger and over hang the ground floor is a smaller land print, so a bit cheaper. Thats what a history guide told me anyway
I guess I think of that style as Tudor or Bavarian maybe? Some of the older ones sometimes look that old but these seem younger and very well cared for.
It’s funny you say that because our immediate thought was Tudor, and as you stand there trying to video they seem so very authentic but as you say they were well maintained. The windows looked wonky though? Perhaps they are protected under a Heritage restriction and have to be kept really well?
Lived in Worsley for year and half, was glad to get out and move back to common grounds,Worsley folk think they are better than anyone from outside,Lovely place but got to have a few bob,to fit in
Sue just immediately said “you can imagine it’s that kind of place can’t you?”. Suppose they’ve got to keep the riff raff out…perhaps that’s why they were following me around whilst filming 🤣🤣 I only nicked one Range Rover, and I put it back where I got it after I’d been to the supermarket 🤣
Thanks Kevin. We thought about Tudor but felt that ‘mock’ sort of lived on modern housing estate pastiches? It was very pleasant either way. Ps keeping an eye on Melita and the Paterson page. Let us know if you’d like it to get a mention?
@@NarrowEscape1 Not much happening on Melita this week, came home with the lurgy last Thursday!! Feeling a bit better now, but not got the energy or enthusiasm to get on at the moment. Keep the page to ourselves at the moment, maybe later in the year when the re-building starts it might be more interesting.
HI 👋👋just a real quick note here, I can't watch this vlog at the moment but wanted to let you guys know, your last vlog you replied to my comment and I in turned replied back to you with a little story of my German/Michigan winters and of an hopefully interesting experience on the beach at my house, if you have 2 moments of down time I hope you can check it out, either way hello, getting ready to head off to my doctor visit. I will check this vlog out this evening. "Keep pushing on"💪
Thanks we will check out your message. Just so you know what happens in UA-cam Studio is we get notified of all NEW/FIRST TIME messages but only sporadically replies to our replies if that makes sense? So, if we send you a reply (we always will) and you comment back there is a good chance we won’t get notified of that reply. Don’t know why or how to fix it but there you go. We’ll try and find your other message 👍
Hi guys... Sorry Sue but conkers do not keep the spiders away. I was told this few years ago I had conkers every corner of the room and hanging but had just as many big hairy spiders too 😅. Lovely video now that would be fab place to visit if some where close by, bit of a way to travel there for myself. Looks good kayaking water 💧 is it possible to kayak it looked to me like it had a dead end. Really nice nice nice houses there bet they cost couple million. Love the video twas a good one this week.. 😮 kev the Brinklow kayaker...
Thanks for that Kev. We did try conkers when we first got JOSH and they didn’t work at all 🤣🤣 At least it wasn’t just us then! You could potentially kayak there but I suspect you might get in some trouble because we think it’s closed to all water traffic and not just boats. 👍
Yeah, I’m not talking to Sue because she has annoyed me. Maybe by Summer I’ll forgive her and we’ll get back on speaking terms? Seriously though we are glad you enjoyed it Dawn. 😍
Thanks you two. There’s often a balance to be found with these things so glad it was both 👍 We’re doing well thanks - hope it’s the same for you guys? 😍
Just watched your vlog it was really interesting to know all the info and the village looks a lovely little place. Spooky part is and if you want to know any further information other than what you have portrayed. I watch another channel called Paul Whitewick and following your video he was talking about the Navvies that worked on the canal to begin with the stretch that you were talking about. James Brindley etc and then went onto the Basingstoke canal and Staffs and Worcs. He covers a lot of disused canals. Also as interesting as your stories. Just for info, and again thanks for yours xx
Oh that’s cool Sandra. He sounds like he would be right our street so he might well just be our viewing entertainment at some point this week 👍 Thanks for the tip off 😍

The letters were sad for sure but part of life back then we suppose 😬😬
Well that's embarrassing, it was me winding the boat very badly 😂

Thank you guys. Great video.
Take care and stay safe.
Thanks Yvonne 😍
I hope you enjoy it he does a lot on disused canals occasional restorations and disused tunnels!
Sounds superb 👍
Great vlog. Thank you for all the history. Fascinating.
Thanks Mishka 😍

That sounds perfectly plausible doesn’t it Julie. If you have a tight site it would really help! 👍
My local bit of the canal network! we go for walks there most Sundays, the underground mine working extend for miles
What a lovely local area you have Dave!!!
Wouldn’t it be AMAZING to get inside the network and have a nosey?!

They looked superb Mic.
Thanks for the kind words 👍👍
Grsat video and history lesson, very interesting and informative
Thanks for that 👍
Well done again you two, I'm fairly sure the houses are 'mock Tudor style' or 'Tudor Revival architecture'. Have a good week, Kevin
