I can attest to how good this thing is. You have so much tonal control in this thing. The low boost is amazing! The mid enhance knob is extremely powerful, and there’s a ton of gain in it.
@@Jeff-jz5sf it is a pretty old pedal, new stuff can do what this pedal can, but then all the boosts can imitate eachother these days. The angry driver is definitely nuts though.
I have this pedal. I absolutely love it. I never cared for the low boost knob though I always keep it at classic. Maybe I need to fiddle around with it some more.
Awesome. I smell potential death metal song riffs. A typical example of the awesomeness of Rob, how he's always been a top player in the death metal genre and how he still has of potential still in him. Hails and Long Live.
I have one going to my dual rec, and I have another coming for my triple rec. They really are amazing totally transform your tone. I also use a MXR 10 band EQ. Bionic tone.
Both are Great. the Super Tube is more versatile and will add some more low end punch.. where the 808 is awesome but really just adds the mid hump.. So if you have a flubby amp with allot of lows you want to clean up and add more grit go with the 808. if you want more body and grit go with the ST-9 pro+
I was going to get a Maxon 808 for my Triple Rec but I think I'm going to try this out first! It gives your tube head more punch and bite and I love it!
What an awesome sound he has going on there ! I have been looking at this pedal for a while now..Gary Holt also uses one of these as an always on pedal in his rig.
No expert, but since he is using active pickups and an overdrive/boost on an amp with an already huge amount of distortion....i'd say there's quite a bit of clipping even in person (not on video)
They are similar, but the DX has a couple of different clipping options. The ST-9 Pro+ is basically an OD808 with a Midrange knob and the ability to run at 9 or 18 volts (internally). It also has the Low-Boost switch, which adds a nice punch to the pedal - I personally always wanted the TS9DX, and then we started distributing Maxon... :)
The Maxon st9 Pro Plus batmetal in particular will help could help me save me money not that there's anything wrong with modding the Boss Metal Zone to the Cannibal Corpse sound but it make more sense to buy the Maxon st9 Pro Plus and informal was the Boss Metal Zone and EMG pickups but since then their formula has changed over the years now their guitarists these days are using Fishman fluence pickups believe they are the modern ones if you have any idea what Fishman fluence they currently as of right now please send a reply. Thank you
amazing pedal but it gives you tons of feedback. i use a boss ns2 to try and hide the feedback on Max settings and still doesn't cut it. maybe I should invest in the decimator?
GodlykeInc Kevin, many thanks for this video. So, on the amp you can dime the gain and add the pedal on top of it? I'm not sure if I understood what Rob said. Maybe you can clarify that a little.
On the first 4 records they played in Eb, some songs on the Vile album are in C# Standard. They eventually started tuning to A# and G# which are the tunings they use now. (They skip the 6th string to play all the old stuff).

That guitar looks and sounds awesome!
Proof that you don't have to back off gain and bass in a guitar tone
they use noise gates and the pedals usually add more treble
For everyone asking about the tuning they use, @1:31 you can see the tuning written on the tuning pedal. :)
From this video, I bought the Maxon ST9+ and its my favorite OD pedal of all time, the low boost is fucking essential to many of my fave tone settings
How are the mids? Definitely important when it comes to amps like Rectifiers who aren't the mid heaviest amps.
That Maxon is a must have . Next band I sing for I'm going to insist my guitarist use that pedal even if I have buy it and have them borrow it .
You buy it and they have to pay rent to you! :D
To be fair, most of that sound is the mesa amp
