    For question 1: By assessing the skin first, can't you see pallor or cyanosis which would indicate poor circulation as well?

      Hello! Good question- looking at skin around the cast itself would not be the best indicator of perfusion that’s more to look for skin breakdown or infection. We usually look for early signs of perfusion problems like new/worsening pain or pain that is not relieved by medications, paresthesias, or tightness around cast. This question is really trying to get you to see your next step is a peripheral neurovascular assessment. I see why you may confused because pallor is a part of that (that’s a LATE sign of a perfusion problem)- however, answer choice D was more talking about a skin integrity assessment rather than skin color- I apologize for the confusion. Let me know if this makes sense 😊

      Think "compartment syndrome" is the biggest concern with fractures and casts, so the best would be to do an intervention to rule out that largest concern.
