Hi, thanks for your feedback. In my opinion now is a good time to start thinking about what research areas he likes to work on and aligns with his research experience. He can start writing to supervisors in the last semester of his final year. Sometimes it can take sometime to find a supervisor with funding to hire graduate students. So it doesn’t Hurt to start early. Specially if he can compete his English language exams and obtain a provisional degree certificate (final year results pending). He can include the unofficial transcript or the provisional degree certificate in the email when he write to potential supervisors. He can also start to work with some local academics to try and get some abstracts published or ideally research papers published in local and international journals and conferences (international ones could be harder but even the local ones count a lot when you apply for a masters). Most research supervisors prefer to hire students with previous research experience in the field that they are working on. So these two semesters are a good time for Him to build that skill set while identifying universities and supervisors to write to. I did a video on tips to finding a research supervisor, I suggest you watch that so you can get a better idea on finding a supervisor faster!

Hi, there are no age restrictions to apply to Canadian colleges or universities as long as you meet the admissions requirements. However if you have a study gap (in your case due to employment) you have to justify it in your SoP for your university/ college admission and your visa application. You’d have to make sure everything else in your application is on point because there is a tendency to reject visas of mature students if you are not able to show your genuine intent to study. You can apply for PR if have Canadian work experience and if you can gain enough points to apply through the skilled immigration path, or you have a job offer and can apply through one of the provincial nominee programs. If you have a masters you will get higher points for the skilled immigration program. But it is not essential.

Hi, there are no age restrictions to apply to Canadian colleges or universities as long as you meet the admissions requirements. However if you have a study gap (in your case due to employment) you have to justify it in your SoP for your university/ college admission and your visa application. You’d have to make sure everything else in your application is on point because there is a tendency to reject visas of mature students if you are not able to show your genuine intent to study.
