They should make a movie about this character. Having a ressurected character from the 80s coming back in 2013 to enact some overdue vengeance would be awesum.
I think in the story of the album Teddy Boy (the character) worked as a chauffer in 1986 and one day while chauffering someone's Testarossa took it for a cruise and ended up crashing it, losing his life in the process.
@WardSennes When you buy the album the songs play as Kavinsky's character is his life before the crash. Wayfarer tells when the character got the Ferrari, Dead Cruiser tells about his girl friend, Flashback about a police chase the character had with his Ferrari, and finally Grand Canyon tells he had a crash with the Ferrari and his girl friend died but he survived. Since then he can't stop thinking about his girl friend and he drives and drives and drives forever.
All Kavinskys tracks are great. In fact Nightcall is the only track that wasn't produced entirely by Kavinsky himself (yes it's just one guy) it was produced by "Daft Punks" Guy-Manuel De Homem-Christo, mixed by electronic artist SebastiAn and features guest vocals by Lovefoxxx. And I've seen a lot of Kavinsky fans (the ones who've been listening to his music before "Drive") who refer to Nightcall as his weakest track.
I don't consider "Nightcall" a weak song in Kavinsky's repertoire. That song is unique because it is different from all the other songs that Kavinsky has made. And that's great.
2 weeks and ive got a matching coat to go with my gloves and hair,,,,,then iam setting fire to my life,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and smoking out the badness.
The thing i like about that classic ferrari it looks like the cheetah from gta vice city which the songs beats sounds like the 80s which the game takes place in
@syedsaim I just wish there were videos for all the songs on that cd that played back to back to tell the story. I know there are videos for Dead Cruiser and Testerossa Autodrive but it'd be sick to have a movie play through the album. If you are aware of such a thing... please direct me.
1:55 THE old school where Kevin lived his life, once a prominent place for an education, now in the aftermath of Crade, a dilapidated shell of its former glory. A ghost image or Sidney, a mirage, directs him toward the old football field to tell him what he had missed in 4 years. "4 years ago John Crade died, now he is leader of the underworld. He rules with an iron fist, and prevents any ghost from passing to heaven. Kevin, usurp him and set everyone free, and always remember that I love yo-"
who cares whether someone loved kavinsky before drive or not, the only thing that matters is that they're now exposed to him and now know who he is and like a lot of his music, i never even heard of him until drive and now because of that i checked out all his stuff and really dig him, i mean, isn't it a good thing that he's getting more exposure? even if it was just because of one song? geez get the fuck over it
Really???? He looked like 40 year old or something, I mean yeah in real life he is almost 50 But 20 years old only(it says on the grave)??? Whatever, the animation is sick af
I think this video takes place in 1986. The cop car looked like a 1970’s Dodge Superbee. I could be wrong however, as the high school is in rough shape, and appears to be abandoned

HE HAD A FERRARI TESTAROSSA AT AGE 20? DAMN THAT NIGGA LED A GOOD LIFE.
Or followed a bad death
I think in the story of the album Teddy Boy (the character) worked as a chauffer in 1986 and one day while chauffering someone's Testarossa took it for a cruise and ended up crashing it, losing his life in the process.
that was some damn good animation

Ah. The modern take on The Flying Dutchman.
His Ferrari Testarossa gives him some swag, but the jacket and glasses give him even more

@@tecz6635 I like that it's slower than the rest and gives a little breathing room in his album.
not weak.do not agree
Anyone else get a Full Throttle feel here? XD

2 weeks and ive got a matching coat to go with my gloves and hair,,,,,then iam setting fire to my life,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and smoking out the badness.
Kavinsky sampled: Serge Gainsbourg - Le Physique Et Le Figuré OST 1981, to make this track
really cool retro style...
1:30 The robbers are like " Prepare to die. " and Kavinsky's like " Bitch please. " .
Love it!! interesting that they went with a Kavinsky song to open Drive!
This was freaking awesome. I don't recall why I subscribed to you. But I know this music video makes me glad I did!
If there was ever a song that needed an extended version it would be this.
I was actually glad alot of people got to know about him
Tells when the character got himself some swag (swag x2)
this video is insanely epicly amazing i luv the fact you can just enjoy the music and vid without even knowing wat THE HELL IS GOING ON ! HAHA
Reminds me of The Wraith (1986)
He must know of it, for he seems to dig all things from the 80's
wow these videos were waaaaaaaaaay ahead of their time
Where can i find this in better quality? It's freaking amazing how detailed the animation is
That’s because it’s traced over recorded footage frame by frame
Bravo Merci

wow. beautiful.
cool, thanks for the info.
AWESOME!!!!!!
When he comes back to life.
The thing i like about that classic ferrari it looks like the cheetah from gta vice city which the songs beats sounds like the 80s which the game takes place in
boi that’s a testarossa
This reminds me of background music during Miami Vice. Shall we treat it as such?
they should make a cartoon series, i would totally watch it!
This guy has more swagg than me ;D
Neat rotoscoping!
Ferrari testarossa!
Ses musiques sont trop courtes !!

@syedsaim I just wish there were videos for all the songs on that cd that played back to back to tell the story. I know there are videos for Dead Cruiser and Testerossa Autodrive but it'd be sick to have a movie play through the album. If you are aware of such a thing... please direct me.

wahh had no idea this had a vid for it
how it feels to drive the project car after 3 blinkers
cool animation
he was 20yrs old according to the gravestone
I seriously hope he gets invited to top gear. He seems enough of a petrol head and i wonder how his lap times would compare.
Thi could be de opening of a mid 90's game
me wanna have a Testarossa now! :D
Hipsters hate when you steal their shine.
I uploaded a version of this video with improved quality. Check it out.
it would be cool if he made an animated series
The sky at 0:25, Isn't that one of Windows XP wallpapers?
epic Ferrari Testarossa!
someone went loco.
Also, dope is dope
Reminds me of the old anime Dark City.
i havent seen drive and literally just found him, this does not make me cooler nor less cool than anyone else. i totally agree
Kavinsky was awesome BEFORE Drive. Lol. And all his other music is much better anyway.
Dead Cruiser/Wayfarer
that's correct
At 00:25 -> Windows Xp's Wallpaper at the background
thinking of initial D
same
I could imagine Takumi turning into a zombie after some car accident and making the legend of the white ghost of Akina real
Clearly is resembling a Ferrari 355 Testarossa
@syedsaim really? in which order, ive only seen two of them
Anymore Kavinsky releasing in the near future ?
He's been posting stuff on his insta, teasing us about releasing something big this year...
Kavinsky release a album called reborn like 4-5 day ago

Where can I get more of this animation???
@syedsaim Thank you.

@syedsaim
How come in the beginning of the video the character stares his grave?
@syedsaim whoaw,was that true story ?
@syedsaim This remind me another band who did the same thing. Do you know Daft Punk? =)

Really????
He looked like 40 year old or something, I mean yeah in real life he is almost 50
But 20 years old only(it says on the grave)???
Whatever, the animation is sick af

You gotta love the hipster mentality. Things are only good when a few people know about it then its too mainstream and spoils all the fun. (sarcasm)
@Dadewd cuz main stream music rules the world.
@dplgta95 To the rest of the world he's dead and the reality is that his soul is alive.
@calebstoffel87 So you can put it in favorites with death metal friday and cannibal corpse lounge music. I can understand that.
