Robert Frost depicted realistic New England life through language and situations familiar to the common man. He won four Pulitzer Prizes for his work and spoke at John F. Kennedy's 1961 inauguration.
Nothing Gold Can Stay remains one of Frost's most beloved poems.
This should be the trend for all young men, not TikTok..
@lordryan100. You have spoken well
God bless for speaking wisdom my friend
India has destroyed ticktock
Amen brother
I hear you, LordRyan100.
In the poem, the speaker talks about the beauty of nature, the inevitability of change or decay, and its transience. In the cycle of nature, the seasons change, and the flowers and leaves wither. All beautiful things in nature will eventually fade away. Likewise, all beautiful and valuable things in life last for so long and will soon disappear.
Therefore, we should fully recognize and appreciate the beauty and preciousness of things, people, and moments around us while there are still with us.
Wonderful interpretation. Thankyou !
Happiness is appreciating what you already have. Likewise, life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain.
Thank you

I don't understand how anyone could dislike such poetry. So DEEP. 👏🏾
Every simple....some minds cannot comprehend words so deep. They are accustomed to base animal needs and desires.
You don't understand it. They did not dislike the poetry. They disliked the idea of the presence of only the like button in youtube and no button to express a feeling of more than like!
@@drsaumyasingh4941 oh so that's why u hit the dislike button
Harjinder Saini such a pity to those kind.
Saumya Singh 😂 smart one. Really smart.
Who else remembers being introduced to this poem by the book/movie The Outsiders.
Stay gold Ponyboy!
Yess stay gold ponyboy!
I love that poem because of the outsiders. My favorite book still to this day. I loved the movie too. Still a haunting and powerful story, simple but true. Dally's last stand, suicide by cops, still gets me
Tattooed stay gold on my belly lol
I'm 46 and I still feel like an outsider some days. Ponyboy was a poet at heart. He saw all the beauty, pain and madness in the world and felt things deeply. He saw things other people couldn't see, there's a beauty in that but it can also be a very lonely place. There's a time in every young man's life when he has a vision of what life could be and then the cold cruel world comes crashing in and shatters his bucolic dream. He has to find hope, inspiration and a reason for living despite the harsh realities of the world and all its problems and demands. He cannot live in that dream world but if he loses his gold than all the magic in the world is gone and life becomes grey and meaningless.
Nothing that is truly beautiful lasts forever.
More no thing alone may last but the whole will always be.
Attachment is the root of all suffering 🙏
And there is where it's beauty resides.

🌿yeah
This poem is about death. Everything beautiful will pass. It's a beautiful poem.
Nothing more perfectly describes that familiar yet indescribable joy mixed with sorrow, that is the bitter sweet experience of life!
*"Are you looking for gold, friend? Look around you; anything useful to you is pure gold, pure silver!"*

LOVE THIS ONE
To Earthward
Love at the lips was touch
As sweet as I could bear;
And once that seemed too much;
I lived on air
That crossed me from sweet things,
The flow of-was it musk
From hidden grapevine springs
Downhill at dusk?
I had the swirl and ache
From sprays of honeysuckle
That when they're gathered shake
Dew on the knuckle.
I craved strong sweets, but those
Seemed strong when I was young;
The petal of the rose
It was that stung.
Now no joy but lacks salt,
That is not dashed with pain
And weariness and fault;
I crave the stain
Of tears, the aftermark
Of almost too much love,
The sweet of bitter bark
And burning clove.
When stiff and sore and scarred
I take away my hand
From leaning on it hard
In grass and sand,
The hurt is not enough:
I long for weight and strength
To feel the earth as rough
To all my length.
Wow. Is that Robert Frost as well?
@@nevermind6716 yup
In high school in the early 60's, Robert Frost was America's poet laureate. After hearing and watching the words I now can see why. Then in my teens I did not have life's experience to appreciate Frost. My English teacher, who is long gone, is thinking better late than never.

"Dawn also becomes a sunset ,leaves die, & just so the gold also doesn't stay " that is the bitter but truthful exprience & all humanity around the world should without mitigation face it.
But that still doesn't dim the value and beauty of dawn while it stays even if for a short while.
To face the passing of all things with dignity and grace.
To run the fading road,
The sun a waning gold,
As it sets upon an honoured race.
@@thebenjiguy you cannot use an before honoured since ' H ' is not a vowel.
@@anuradhainamdar8967 Ah ok. I wasn't sure because of the vowel sound in "honored". Learning everyday. Thanks for correcting me, genuinely. I hope you are well.
@@thebenjiguy Thanks, for your kind words.
One of my favorite poems. Nothing gold can stay: so sad, so true.
I could listen to this on repeat for a thousand years
I have reached 76 and had never heard of Robert Frost. A phrase, maybe. . . anyway, this is genius, and my day is made. Thanks.
You may love "The Road Not Taken." I reflected on it, now and then for 50 yrs.
It's never late to come across sublime poetry.
Even if so, it's better late than never 😊
No matter how strong you are, you will eventually commit mistake, fail and wither away. Life is not about the few moments of ecstasy, success and happiness. It is about learning to live with the failures, mistakes and regret.
I think that depends on your general outlook on life
True.
My mother got to listen to Robert Frost read his own poetry allowed at a library in 1961 (I think it was, it was before he died in '63.) She said he was a gruff and grumpy old dude, and he stopped his reading to ask a woman in the audience "Would you rather knit or listen to me?" because she was knitting while she was listening and that annoyed him. I've always been envious of her for that experiance.
This changed my mood for the better
Always improving🔥🤘
Like sleeping pills.!slepp for a dumb head
Beautifully as nature because the cycle of life and death shown through the four seasons provides imagery that many people can identify with; and in this poem, nature symbolizes the idea that all the good and beautiful things in life will eventually fade away. One of the most important messages to take from this poem is that once you recognize how we can take precious moments for granted and before you know it they are gone which makes appreciate this poem even more! When you think about in the Spring flowers grow up, but eventually will die, our kids grow up, lose their innocence and eventually all people die too! It may sound a bit morbid but it is a great poem and his poems surely have always made me think more!
I first learned it from the movie The Outsiders. Very beautiful and true.
Love this guys voice
It’s true. So many things in life are Gold, but sadly nothing gold can stay. Everybody out there, Stay Gold for as long as you can!
I am a 18 year old and I am really impressed by this channel and its depthness...it is just Memerising ❤😊
Excellent read, as much as I respect the author himself, but this narration is superior in so many ways that it's difficult to even describe in words. Bravo!
I first read this poem 15/20 years ago in 7th grade in the outsider and the words have stuck with me this entire time. I find myself reciting it at random times. My absolute favorite poem of all time
"lightning that mocks the night, brief even as bright. The flower that smiles today, tomorrow dies. All that we wish to stay, tempts and flies away" Shelly's poem as I remember.
Shane Morris's voice is mesmerising.
This hits my ❤ as it is relevant to our passing days and years of age. Nothing gold… can stay ⏳
Been on Google trying to understand why dogs don't live that long (we lost our dog in February) it somehow lead me to the saying "nothing gold can stay". Then it brought me to this poem. Hit me right in the feels man 😭 all good things must come to an end 😔
You should watch the outsiders movie you won't regret it
Shane Morris - your voice is utterly captivating and perfect for these poems. Smooth, rich, vibrant, deep, velvety. I could listen to it non stop.
A true poet. I was in eight grade when my teacher introduced me to his poetry. He will always be gold.
Kind of missing the point of the poem.... nothing gold can stay, got that.... pal??!

A deep profound poem about the life cycles of the season. It gripped my heart a different way and gave me a type of perspective that not too many look into unless you truly decided to. The cycle of birth of a new bud to leaf then a gold which means death then the cycle goes again. Some thing so common expressed in a real raw dreamy way.
Thank you...beautifiul.
Stay Gold!!
Wonderful heartfelt messages( readings) that have left me in tears. Thank you so much for your wonderful and heartfelt poems_ messages.

Yup, this is exactly where I first heard the poem recited by C Thomas Howell in the movie The Outsiders I instantly had teardrops flowing freely on how beautifully and magnificently and moving this poem meant to me
The inevitable turn of truth,
beauty and climax
Always turn and fades.
And always come back
Faded from Gold,
And back to Gold again……

They soon change form and fade into the past.

Reminds me of my literature class❤

Brilliant
That is an inspirational message?? Thank you God I am a Christian, and my gold stays into eternal life with You and every other believer in Christ.
Open Letters 😳 Why are you so exercised about this poem? If your religious beliefs are valid nothing will change them, including this poem. In passing, when did you become a Christian? Not at birth. No one is born into any religion, whatever religionists might claim. Also why is there such urgency to include an infant in a religious organisation, when said child cannot give consent to such behaviour? I suggest it concerns asserting authority and power over a population through a combination of promises and threats. Nothing civilised or humane about that. Delusions are highly dangerous; I prefer reality as the basis of my life.
Open Letters: Do not thank God for making you a Philistine. Open your ears, and your eyes.
Stay golden, Pony Boy.
