How I wish I can visit Santorini before I die😍

Santorini has a special place in my heart, I have been to Santorini 3 times, Sept 2009, Jan 2014 (cold & rain) and April 2016 all by ferry, and I still wish to visit again. Lately I started to expand my love to Crete & Rhodes, all 3 islands are just picture perfect. During summer months, you can easily hop from 1 island to another with the frequent ferries. In July 2019, I took the 90 min speed ferry from Fethiye, Turkey to Rhodes Island, it has a small custom terminal since it's consider an international arrival. Except during winter, on any given day, there will be wedding photo shoots at the most beautiful Oia, they took forever to shoot, so it can be annoying because everyone wants the same photo spots. Just like her, I tried to hike the trail from Fira, where all the cruise ships dock, to Oia. I only hiked 1/4 way, because I met a mother/daughter during my hike, they invited me to their rented Vila for tea, we then chatted over many drinks for 4 hours :) and end up in a cave bar further down.

I was there in '94 (lived and worked in Athens for three years) ... Santorini was calm, beautiful... and cheap. You could walk the many stairs of Thera alone... I'm not sure if I would go today, at least not during the summer. It's wonderful to see the "other" rural parts of the island. Props to the photographers!

I was there during that era too, 3 months in 93, and I went back several times, people I knew some lived there 8-10 years or more - all gone now. It's still beautiful, at least it didn't go the really tacky tourist route, but no one will experience it like we did or understand that place as we did.

I was astonished to see how quiet and rural Therasia stayed, and that just opposite one of the islands - Santorini - where tourism went too far ... The people of Therasia should be credited for protecting their island. Thank you for this beautiful documentary, you made me long for Greece.

Santorini. My favorite island in Greece is Santorini..
Mykonos. The best nightlife and clubbing in Greece is found on Mykonos.
Crete. The largest Greek island and rich with beaches, historical sights, hikes, and small cities.

Fava beans one of my favorite dishes !!! Some olive oil, lemon, pepper accompanied by some raw thiny sliced red onion on top and you can eat fava hot or cold !!! Some people like to accompany fava with capers or olives as well !! Usually along with fava beans a salty fish like lakerda or satdines or ancovies is recomended and ofcourse ouzo or white wine or retsina !!! Caution Ouzo is to be enjoyed slowly and always accompanied with fingerfood (meze) as an appetizer !!!Ouzo is not a vodka shot !!

    P.S.
Pay attention in september, I've found myself in a hunting field not far of Emporio!

It's a great video, loved watching it! That dish esp...however it's made with Greek Fava which is yellow split peas and not Fava beans. Just wanted to point it out as it a 3,500 year old crop and lil nuances like this are important to pass on correctly to the audiences.

All of the hardships that the majority of Greeks have endured over the past 15 years whitewashed! I suppose travel programs are intended as a diversion for most people around the world who live in less attractive and less prosperous places. While the wild fennel might be great, I had a two foot plant that turned out to be a wild lettuce weed! When it was dug up it smelled terribly of strong perhaps rotten lettuce. So much for fantasy travel! At least I do not have to live with the possibility of an earthquake, volcano, excessive heat and drought along with the out of control wild fires now a feature of the Greek summer!

God loves you so much that He sent His Holy Son Jesus from heaven to earth, to be born of a virgin, to grow up and die on a cross for our sins, and to be put into a tomb 3 days and rise from the dead the third day, and He (Jesus) went back up to heaven. We must receive Sinless Jesus sincerely to be God's child(John 1:12).After we get saved by grace through faith in Christ, if we truly love the Lord Jesus Christ, then we will obey Jesus(John 14:15). Mark 1:15 "And saying, the time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: Repent ye, and believe the gospel." Jesus said in John 14:15 "If you love Me, keep My commandments. "There's a real hell. It says in Revelation 21:8 "But for the cowardly, and unbelieving, & abominable, and murderers, and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone..." Please sincerely receive Holy Jesus and put your true faith and trust in Him today and please repent.

May Allah forgive the males, for wanting to cover a woman’s body. Men need to find purity in their soul that woman are not objects of tainted desire that need to be covered, but a human just like you free to live the life that Allah gave her, the way she wants and pleases her.
Women can and will dress the way they wish, no man is going to control us anymore.
Stay in peace and find purity and less malicious desire In your soul!

A very pretty place but the air quality looks worse than LA.

    • @Ptolemy336VV
      @Ptolemy336VV 3 роки тому +10

I checked the air quality on one map where 100 is extremely bad, and everything below 20 is good air quality and with 0 being perfect. Many of the areas in Greece have an air quality of 3-7. The islands of the Cyclades (one island group where Santorini is part of) has a number of 5. So it's very good. Los Angeles has 3 values: 52, 56 and 72. So those are not good values at all. So in other words. Santorini is not only very pretty. But also very clean. And of course it is very clean. You can think of 10 reasons yourself why that is. First of all. Check how exceptionally wonderful the environmental factors are. 80% mountains, 16.000 km of the most crystal clear coastlines, and except for the cities, where 60% of the population lives, Greece has a lot of untouched nature, and a lot of untouched coastline, a lot of untouched mountains, meaning a lot of untouched and exceptional scenery. And they have the best air quality for sure. Because what is there on these mountains, valleys, sea and so on. Nothing but wonderful scenery, clear, serene
PS. There are 2 wonderful vlogger couples in Greece right now.
      - 1 couple from Germany who are on the Peloponnese who have like 8 wonderful videos who are called: "Lets get otter there" traveling 2 months or so.
      - The other couple are from Estonia who have like 20 videos of Greece traveling 3 months now. Called: "Wild Viking Travels"
If you love absolutely spectacular sceneries and want to find out how serene many areas look like, then check these out.

Comparing LA to this little island of Santorini?
I have been to Santorini 3 times, Sept 2009, Jan 2014 and April 2016, I never see traffic jam or experience bad air quality. Everything sit on the cliff, the buses run once per hour, the most frustrating part for visitors, there are rental cars but never causing traffic jam. A lot of tourist rented the ATV, restaurants & supermarkets are all walking distance from hotels. Can you explain how was your bad air quality experience come from?
