Hey again :) what's the name of your banjo and the string you use? Just want to know because I really like the sound of it, and I would like to try out the strings you use to see what they're sounds like on my own :)

It's a Brooks Banjo, made by Brooks Masten in Portland, Oregon.
You can check out his website at: BrooksBanjos.com
My banjo is a Spartan model with a 12" maple rim, walnut neck, skin head, and a standard brass tone ring.
I use guitar strings instead of banjo strings in order to get a slightly higher string tension than standard, commercially-available medium gauge string sets. I buy order individual D'addario brand strings online in order to accommodate this approach.

Awesome! the banjos they are making is beautiful and the one you have sounds stunning! good to know for future purchase :)
That's something I would never have thought about, about the stings I mean, really clever I will give that a try next time I restring my banjo but first I'm going to give the regular medium D'addario a try I actually bought a set of them yesterday and was planning to put them on this weekend so its encouraging to hear that you use the same brand :)
thank you so much for the thoughtful reply have an awesome day!

Yes, I would certainly start with the regular, medium gauge d'addarios and, before you try experimenting with heavier gauge (guitar) strings, be sure to check with your banjo maker/company to make sure that the neck is able to handle the extra tension.

You might want to mention left-hand fingernails.

Maybe so...they are certainly a hinderance if one wears them too long on the left hand.
