Holly didn’t want to wear those kinda things she always said she’d never wear kinda revealing things like Phoebe did. She was more conservative in what she wore as piper.
I just saw your video and I totally agree with you. I'm a huge fan of the OG Charmed, but decided to give this show a chance and watch it, but something wasn't clicking...and now that I have seen your review, it is the inconsistency of the storyline. So I've been struggling to keep watching the show. P. D. I also shipped Mel and Abby, and didn't understand why all of the sudden, Macy and Harry were in love...By the way, thanks a lot for this review💙
I didn't think I would with a majority of your review, since I disagreed about some of the things you pointed out with Mel's character, but I think you nailed a lot of issues the show has had. Simply said: the decision to change the season 1 show runners was, and has been, one of the worst decisions a tv show has made. If season 4 is the final season of the show, I'd say that Liz Kruger and Craig Shapiro are largely responsible with some of the decisions they decided was ok while they had the reigns of the show. I'll definitely try and avoid any of their works where they had as much power as they did with season 2 and 3 of Charmed. This show is really special and full of potential in ways the og Charmed wasn't, so it sucks seeing those two destroy or ignore a majority of what initially drew people in to the reboot throughout season 1. You are one of the very few people who calls out the season 2 flashback episode for what it is. That being the new show management being too lazy to understand the character(s) they inherited, and deciding to take an easy way out and retconning Macy to fit how they needed her. To me, that is when I knew the character of Macy that I grew to love in season 1, was gone. Not that Mel or Maggie escaped their own retcons, although Maggie manage to come out better overall through the recons that went on with Liz and Craig around. Through out season 2, I felt like they didn't know and didn't want to spend time trying to write for a gay woman character, and just gave all of Mel's screen time to the new sexy dark and brooding Harry. It's obvious that Liz and Craig knew there was a loud part of the fandom that wanted Harry and Macy to be together, and it really felt that the sisterhood's on screen moments suffered in favor of developing "Hacy". I personally shipped Mel and Abigael, and thought that it was an intended slow burn, because of a lot of coded moments since Abigael and Mel started to interact. Things like: Mel blowing a kiss Abigael's direction, Abigael slowly starting to see Mel as a powerful witch despite not having powers, Abigael letting Mel borrow or use one of the only things she has from her mother, Abigael choosing not to leave Mel behind, Mel being portrayed as one of the only ones out of the core characters that trusted Abigael, the other being Harry who we saw was portrayed as a love interest for Abigael, and the list can go on. However, since finding out that Liz, Craig, and Poppy decided to end Abigael's time after season 3 on the show, but seeing how they still used the potential of Abimel to draw in viewers I'm not so sure. This show somehow managed to Queerbait despite a main character being queer, and to me that is baffling. They baited us with the potential Abigael and Mel ship, while giving nothing to Mel and Ruby, yet expected fans to be ok with Mel and Ruby just working out as a couple with no time spent on them? Baffling. On the upside of Abigael being written off, at least we won't have to see a portion of the vocal fandom call the character Mel had the most chemistry with and potential as a compelling love interest a: racist, and a time sink. Despite season 2 and 3 spending so much time on Harry, because he's 1 half of the ship the new show runners decided should take center stage on the show. Rupert Evens is amazing, as was Madeleine Mantock, but the show was suppose to focus on the sisters. Josefina falls into the same mix bag that Abigael fell into: love by some, or hated or distrusted by some. I flip flop about her character a lot, I like her because of the view it gave us into Marisol, trans woman rep, but disliked how eager she was to get her powers. I am sort of glad they didn't use her as one to replace the missing spot left by Macy merging with the tree, since it would have felt predictable, for me. I think they will go with a non blood related witch to finish the power of three come season 4, and I'm ok with that if it happens. From what I've seen of Mr Falco's interactions with answering fans despite some snappy comments, I have some hope that he and his co workers can do something with the smoldering ashes the previous show runners left them to work with.
great review! I agree with everything and i think Josephina is meant to be the billy of the new version. I feel like you can connect every person and every storyline back to the original and i really which they would be more original...and go back to the monster per episode style like you said sisterhood is the premise but how much solo fight was involved???? love this!
I have been holding off on watching the reboot because I watched the original religiously all through HS and college. So I was afraid this would ruin that for me. But after listening to your review I'm going to give it a chance. It actually made me a little nostalgic for charmed!
I'm half way through season 2 and not sure if I want to continue. I may... just not binging. I loved season 1 and Macy was my favorite. The move to Seattle and the sisters going their own way was a bit of a mistake. And it loses something I agree I didn't see what's his name (Maggie bf) as the source of evil. He was too clean cut to be fighting with demonic energy. Mel got boring in season 2. The Niko storyline and the consequences of that spell needed to be addressed. Love to hear your take on season 4
Both coombs and milano were producers and had a say in their costuming. These women dresses themselves but that was the style back then. Coombs was dressed down but she was considered the "average one" You should check out allison preglers review on the charmed series.
I loved this video as I talked about charmed reboot in a more lately sense instead of videos from when it first aired but I wonder are you going to give your opinions on season 4 if you have watched a lot of people stopped due to Macy's death.
First season in reboot Mel’s power was different then Pipers she was an actual time witch and her power was temporal stasis. Season two to three Mel like a Maggie gains the OG counterparts witch powers of Molecular manipulation and premonition respectively. Piper and the rest of the halliwells were all molecular witches no actual time powers but the effect would be indistinguishable to the naked eye , especially when Melinda warren was using it in colonial times.
I didn't even bother with watching that garbage! I am a huge fan of charmed and the moment I heard they were going to make a remake I plain out refuse to watch it! Certain classic shows, and movies, Hollywood should just stay away from them.
The pacing of the Reboot after Episode 4 was insane! I felt like I was watching about 12 reboots in S1, alone! Then Hurricane Abigael waltzes in and hog screentime while being smug! Season 3 was the season of "Hi, I'm Trans/gay! Bye now!" I just summed up three seasons of nonsense!
I could tell this reboot was going to stink a mile away. At least it wasn't misandrist. Your review was detailed and somewhat impartial. I appreciate that. You should do more.

Yes! I've seen season four and I will be doing a review on it and the reboot as a whole!

it was the usual feminist, anti-white drivel that hollywood has been on
The Reboot is way better. As Billy Joel states " the good old day weren't always good, and tomorrow ain't as bad as it seems. Btw. Macy is the Bomb!
Season 1 was better than the original.
They had some good ideas and wish it continued and not the witchness protection program.
