Wish that they made the brackets stronger. Every year I am welding and bending them back straight. I have had to do this 4 times so far. Besides that it works decent. Also had to weld on plow where the largest pin goes. The welds on these plows is like a six year old did it.
I have been looking at this plow kit. Great video and has definitely made me want this even more! I noticed that going by the manufacturer pictures that the black blade strip goes on top of the white wear strip.
Expecting.the plow to arrive this week. Planning on replacing the foot pedal with a Harbor Freight winch mounted on the forward side of the vertical post and a mounting plate fabbed up by my welding shop. $150 upgrade.
@@johnquinn3899 I got the drawing done in CAD for the welding shop. It's not much work for them at all. I'll detail it for everyone when done. Just curious, Is everyone having good traction without chains.
Hey Curtis,’just getting stuff together, Fun Corner has made a good presentation & your suggestion will help me greatly as I have some physical issues.
@@johnquinn3899 Corner did an excellent job. Home Depot has me scheduled for delivery this week. (I figured getting it from HD it could be easily returned if it was a disaster) I will add details to the upgrades ASAP. Aside from the winch, a light bar and broadcast salt spreader are in the plan for a total solution.
i JUST installed a Ohio Steel Snow Plow. It went beautifully. I even found how easy it is to remove the plow. The only question I have is how to best adjust the foot pedal so that I don't have to use both feet to lift the plow up? And how to get the 13 lbs of pressure to lift it. I know it is geometry with the angle vs distance and such.
Just bought a Greenworks 80 volt 42 inch Zero Turn mower and thinking about getting this in the future but the blade is too wide to fit in the door opening for the shed where this is going to be stored, but I saw on Amazon they sell a 48 inch version which I can only fit this while the Zero Turn is in our shed (we do not have a garage), which has a 56 inch door opening, so the 60 inch is too wide, but I assume I could get the blade separate to install outside of the shed once the frame attachment is on (honestly would just go with the 48 inch one in the end). I believe the plates for the caster bars might fit onto the Greenworks but I don't have the mower yet, but its coming in the next week and a half. Do you know off hand the measurements of the mounting plates for the caster bars were to attach this on?
OMG I have the same Ariens zero turn I have to ask how is the snow plow working for you? Do you like it does the zero turn perform well with it on are you having any issues with it? Would you do anything different because I'm looking to buy one for my Ariens turn like I said I have the same mower you do. Do you think it works good thanks
I'm satisfied with it. I put some chains on mine just to help it from sliding. I'm sure it doesn't compare to a 4 wheeler but definitely getting the job done for me.
Can you take a pic of where you put the chains at for me please I have the same zero turn exact model you have can you tell me how it is performing when your doing the snow. @@funcorner328
Can you tell me which chains you used and where you got them from please. I also wanted to know how you like it does it perform well with the snow plow. I have the same model Ariens. @@funcorner328
I'm curious how this worked out after a couple seasons. Is the Ariens frame strong enough ? And is the frame behind the castor arms fill box tube or is is 'C' channel. I have the Oil Steel plow but unfortunately the front end has suspension and isn't strong enough to support the plow. Thanks for the great vid.
The front pivot axle on zero turn mowers is held in place by one bolt and bushing in most cases. Why they designed this plow to mount on that axle is hard to fathom! After using it for a while it surely will loosen the fit of the bolt in the bushing and elongate the hole. It would be so much better to mount that plow to the rigid frame of the mower so the forces go to the rear drive wheels and not thru a single pivot point. Some machines have wear pads to keep the pivot bushing from side elongation but why put strain on those? I’ll be mounting any attachment to my frame.
Just rewatched your great video. I have an Ariens 48 in Apex and last season I contacted my dealer and the Ariens company about using this plow. Both sources told me NOT to install the plow saying it would damage the hydros and zer0 turns were not designed for this application. After using the plow on your Ariens, what are your thoughts/experience. Thanks
I've used it for one winter with moderate snow. Haven't noticed any issues with the zero turn last summer. This is just a temporary fix till I'm able to get a 4wheeler with a plow. (Maybe 2 more years)
Yes, I wish my blade was bigger, because the mower portion collects snow. As far as mounting, youll need to cut out some of the sheet metal to make it fit like I did.
Loved the content. I was thinking of getting a snow blower at first. But now I’m thinking of outfitting my 61”Scag zero turn. Thanks for posting.
Glad I was able to help you make your decision.
A BIG THANK YOU for doing this video!!! Now I can do this with confidence!!! WOOHOO!!
Happy to help
I do want to know if I need to take off the mower deck in order to use the snow blade?

I always wondered if they had something like that. I would've ordered one for work, but I retired a week ago. Lol. 👍🏼
Congrats on retirement 👏

It does, having it behind does no good at all and if he keeps it like this, it will eventually rip thru the bold heads.
Looks good. Pretty handy and affordable I would imagine. It sure beats shoveling. I will look for your video on it plowing
I'm planning on making a video once we get more snow. Looking at getting rubber "chains" to give it some traction.
Excellent video thank you
Glad you enjoyed it.

Steel strip goes over plastic strip on the outside of blade.

I don't know the size. I also got chains for the mower to help with traction while plowing.
What did you use to cut out the notch on sheet metal at 2:25? Thanks!
Saws all with a fine tooth metal blade. Used a file to clean up the edges

11:16... Where's black steel plate that goes over vinyl?
I installed them backwards. I put it behind.

The frame has held up. Traction was the biggest problem for me. I ended up getting chains and that helped solve the issue.
@@funcorner328 Yes I used chains too and left the skids off the bottom of the plow, using just the plastic wear bar. Thanks.

Will work on making an update video.
Would this fit on a bobcat zt2000
Not sure. Might need to fabricate a way to attach it.
Does NYONE KNOW IF I NEED TO REMOVE THE MOWER DECK TO ATTACH THE OHIO STEEL PLOW?
no you do not
I didn't remove my deck.
The only thing missing is how much does it take to remove the plow so you can cut grass in the spring? Otherwise good show.
Appreciate the question. Ill add that to my update video
@@funcorner328 Thanks for the response. One other thing is it a must to remove the mower to use the plow? I hate having to remove the deck
I didn't remove it this year. Ill check to see of there's any damage from water/ice in the spring.
Would it fit a aries 52 inch

I don't like how blade doesn't lock back... Strange.
Little bit of a foot workout...
Thanks for only showing 5 seconds of operating the plow in your 12 min video of blabbing. I like how it was in fast forward too.
Sorry about that. Ill try getting an update video.
If you didn't like the video why did you watch it for 12 minutes, move on ahole
those are R clips not cotter pins, and your installing them incorrectly if there all the way to the loop.
otherwise a nice clear informational video... good job
Thank you. I appreciate the feedback 👍🏻
No thanks. I'm not cutting up my brand new zero turn.
