My Dad, who was not an Elvis fan, walked into my room while I was playing this song. He asked me who was singing. I said it was Elvis. With his voice choking, he said he had never heard it sung so beautifully. My Dad was born in Wales, Great Britain. “Danny Boy”, is like an anthem over there. I had it played at his, and my son’s funerals. My will states for it to be played at mine. Thank you for sharing!
Damn! Why didn’t I listen longer before commenting? Why disrespect a beautiful, almost religious, song, and performance, with such crude sexual references?!!
@@tlbemanI prefer to focus on the soulful and haunting voice of Elvis singing this beautiful song. I would bawl my eyes and heart out if I heard EP sing this at a funeral, it's absolutely heartbreaking. God's instrument, indeed 💯⚡❤
I remember when I got the album, “From Elvis Presley Blvd”. I had never heard Elvis sing this way! Songs like, “Hurt”, “Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain”, and “The Last Farewell “, really hit me emotionally. He recorded these songs at Graceland, which has a whole story of it’s own. Thank you for sharing!
Man, made me cry. Beautisul rendition, such interpretation by a Master vocalist. Easily THE BEST version EVER! Peace and love from England. Enjoy your weekend.
The little girl on stage was a huge fan of Elvis she was in the front row. The little girl was blind Elvis stopped the concert brought her up on stage gave a scarf and then he paid for the operation to restore her sight. Elvis generous beyond belief this is why to this day we love him. TCB⚡️
Oh my goodness, if that voice doesn't move your soul, nothing will. Nothing I can say can compare to pure talent this man had. Thank you so much Joanie for this absolutely amazing request. Relvis I love seeing you get so moved when Elvis sings. I agree this song was made for Elvis. To me this has the absolutely best rendition I have ever heard.❤
that litle girl was blind and she said if she could touch his face because mom said he was beautiful but Elvis said your beautiful sweet heart touch your face that's what beautiful.
Elvis was what is known as a baritone-tenor. He worked some with J D Sumner on bass notes as well. Elvis had roughly a three octave range - unheard of. The little blind girl was placed on the stage while E was giving out scarves. When he saw her, he came over and spoke to her - keeping the microphone out of the way, so the conversation was private. He took a scarf, kissed it and touched it to each of her eyes before tying it around her neck. Nobody but Elvis. Miss Joanie, thank you for this request. Elvis could create such emotion with any song. Sigh.
Please please please, play , I remember you ! …. You would fall in love with him all over again , I guarantee you !! And he looks the best there ! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I’ve seen it a few times and like you said there are no words so I didn’t comment that’s pretty much all I’ll say. He was amazing beyond belief. There really are no words it does him justice
This man was born to sing ! Just imagine ... he was training to be an electrician but God had another plan for him ... and we all were blessed with his amazing talent ! TCB forever ! Thanks for this , Ray !
When God made Elvis he was showing off, then he realized He shouldn't have done that and this voice is too special for the Earth so he took him early to front that big choir in the sky. God apologized to Elvis for taking him so early but as a reward said his music and image would be forever remembered on the Earth and though many would try to copy him and others would try to ridicule him, but not to worry his greatest gift would always win the day, his love for his fans. Story time with John. Great reaction as always Ray God bless from Ireland.
😭😭😭😭😭😭❤❤❤❤❤ Miss Joanie and Ray....I sob every time I hear it. It breaks my heart and at the same time I love it so much. You are 100% right Ray ...this song was made for Elvis beautiful voice. Thank you for playing it and I send much love to you both...❤❤
I confess, I am very skeptical about Elvis' singing after 1975, I believe that his voice was very affected by health problems, but Denny boy is a masterpiece, and his voice has everything - strength, depth, deep feelings, I can't imagine better performance
Never tire of this amazing song, it’s almost like a hymn by now. The lyrics are incredible, it’s a standard that all artists should prove themselves by.
I always suggest this song to Elvis reactors. It is out of this world beautiful. The song was written in the 1800s and was called Londonderry Aire. It was retitled and new words written around WWI. It is a song sung by a father to his son who is going off to fight in the war. It literally brings tears to my eyes the way Elvis sings it, with such feeling that it almost tears your heart out. Elvis could do that with his amazing talent.
I so love this song the way he sings it but it truly makes me cry every time. It is a masterpiece and the words ring true about how he will always be there for us. We tread his sacred Graceland and bend to tell him how we love him still. We hope you are resting in peace. Your reaction is priceless and beautiful. Thank you, Joanie, for requesting this absolutely magnificent rendering of "Danny Boy". Incomparable and inimitable Elvis ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you, Ray. Your reaction to Elvis' rendition of this song is exactly how it makes me (and I'm sure many others) feel. He sings it beautifully and with such emotion, as only he could. Whenever he covered a song he always made it his own and, in my opinion, his version was always better than any of the others, including the original. The little girl you saw him with in the photo was blind. He saw her near the stage and went over to give her a scarf. He knelt down in front of her and then realised that she was blind. He moved the microphone away from his mouth and spoke to her; then he kissed the scarf and put it around her neck. Charlie Hodge, who was Elvis' right hand man on stage, was standing close by and could hear what was being said by both of them. Charlie has confirmed that the little girl asked Elvis if she could feel his face as her mother had told her that he was very handsome. Charlie said that he agreed to let her feel his face, but he also said to her that if she wanted to know what real beauty looks like then she only needed to feel her own face 🥰 He finished the show, but he couldn't stop thinking about this little girl. He wrote out a cheque for $50,000 and gave it to his road manager, Joe Esposito, with instructions for him to find out who she was and give this cheque to her family. He also told Joe to tell them that whenever and wherever they wanted to come to one of his concerts again there would be free tickets for them and he would also pay for any travel and accommodation they needed. As well as this being such a beautiful story. It is, again, just typical of Elvis that he didn't say any of this over the microphone so that it was a private conversation between him and the little girl and we only know what was said because Charlie was within earshot of them. Also, what happened afterwards was only made public knowledge later on because Joe has since told the story of what he did for this family. This is just one of many similar stories about what he did for others (mostly behind-the-scenes) during his all too short lifetime. He was a beautiful human being both inside and out ♥♥♥
Wow Ray, Oh Danny boy is like our national anthem in Ireland .It describes the Irish Diaspora to all the corners of the earth. Elvis is always the King. But please listen to Jackie Wilson's version of this. It will blow your mind. Elvis and Wilson was close friends. Elvis paid his medical bills for him.
I loved Jackie Wilson also and you are right about what he did. For people who don't know, he admired Jackie Wilson and Ivory Joe Hunter (Since I Met You Baby) and would go to their performances. He became friends with both of them. During a performance, Jackie suffered a heart attack that ended his career. Ivory developed cancer. Elvis helped pay both their medical bills. That's who he was.❤❤❤
Ray, man you have to check out this song by Elvis called My boy. One of my favorites and willing to bet will be one of yours.
