LOL funny you mention that. I was actually tough to get it to tie wrong. I didn't know any ways to tie it wrong. I appreciate the view and glad it will help out someone out there.
Your instructions were really clear and the whole video was very nice and professional, if I would practice jiu jitsu I'd be so happy because of your videos :D I tie my belt for aikido almost the same way as you did in the last one!
It's not a must however it is a common enough thing that everyone does it. Usually the patches are put on the left so if you have the left is on the bottom, it will cover the patch. They're some practitioners who use it with left under the right. I believe bibiano fernandes wore it like that a couple of times. Thanks for the view and question.
this presentation makes a lot of sense! i also like to keep my property clean/scented, neat, well presented & respectful. thank u for sending info i really appreciated, cheers!
the striped don't have to be necessarily on the left however that's one way I was able to get the belt company logo to be read right side up. Thanks for your question and view.
BJJ is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. To be honest it all came from Japan. Brazil modernized it to be used for the street (Gracie Family). Ju Jitsu is Japanees Jiu Jitsu. Ju = Gentle Jitsu = Art/technique
Thanks for the comment! I see your concern. I will tell you in the years of training I have seen the stripes on both sides of practitioners. I picked my stripes to be to my left and I tie my belt for that way for 4 years+. Royler Gracie for example used his belt with his stripes on the left and other times to the right. Compact yourself books "Gracie submissions" and "Brazilian jiujitsu theory and technique". There is no "right" way. Hope this helps James. Thanks for the view and comment!
before you put the logo end on your hip, make sure the logo is right side up, and facing your hip. That's where you are most likely going wrong. Let me know how it turns out. If it still does not come out right side up, shoot me a message and we will email you a separate video with more detail. Thanks for the question and view
I understand that the left over right lapel applies to right handed practitioners. Dating back to drawing your sword out from your kimono. But is there correlation between dominant side and the side your stripes are hanging? I've noticed some black belts will always have their stripes on their right side, but I've also noticed Helio never showed consistency on which side the stripes of his red belt hung to. Sometimes they were on the right. Sometimes they were on the left. Consistency please?
the Left over right or right over left thing comes from Japan and the Kimono days... right over left is only for funeral kimono that the dead are dressed in. Considered bad luck/bad manners to wear it that way in Judo, but this i BJJ... so guess anything goes...
I have a question and I know I’m going to get hammered for it: I’ve spent many years practicing taekwondo and am a 2nd Dan. Only been taking BJJ for a few months and I’m loving it! My problem: When I tie my (white) belt, it looks pretty much like yours in the video however.....to me it FEELS so dang short! I’m used to it hanging down an extra 5-6 inches on each side of my belt. It just doesn’t feel correct. I know this is just in my head. Should I just try to ignore it or buy a longer belt and risk looking like a doofus? I don’t see many longer belts in jujitsu.... thoughts?
Thanks for your feedback! In responds to your question, I have made 2 video's on how to tie/carry your gi. One of them is backpack edition. Hope you enjoy. Thanks for the view. you can find those videos on my channel.
I am her because i bet my belt fell of once every minut while roling today, and it annoyed me and I think my partner got anoyed to. Gotta try this out for my next time.
I really appreciate your feedback. Thank a lot and I appreciate you sharing this video with teammates.

the striped don't have to be necessarily on the left however that's one way I was able to get the belt company logo to be read right side up. Thanks for your question and view.
This is the clearest belt tying video I have ever seen so far! 2min 30sec and I have it, and running the video at normal speed too!
Thank you for your comment!

Good info Adrian! Thanks for sharing. I was not aware of this
Is the 2nd way the style that gives the appearance of both belt end facing up when finished? I like that one the best
So what side should the black strip be where the striped go on?
No problem! Glad this was some help

How hard was it to tie your belt improperly for the video?
So the stripes always go on your left?

Thanks for the view and the comment.

Is it just a coincidence that everyone does it or is the left lapel supposed to be in the front?
which part of the last one gets you paused? Perhaps i can help

I don’t see many longer belts in jujitsu.... thoughts?
Thanks for your view and question. I would ignore it. You could go one size bigger but you may also drop.some weight while training jiu jitsu.
You should make a video talking about cups in bjj?
Hi. whats the size of your belt ? A1 or A2 ?
Iam 181cm ,i like not so long, what you recommend ?
Tab left I suppose... I see it left here I believe and have been wearing it tab left.
Hey mate, how’s the quality on the Koral belts?
Is BJJ different to Ju-Jitsu belt tie?
There is no correct way however usually it's seen on the left side. You will be good on either side = )
OSS thanks for watching and the feedback!
thx
Thanks for your feedback! In responds to your question, I have made 2 video's on how to tie/carry your gi. One of them is backpack edition. Hope you enjoy. Thanks for the view. you can find those videos on my channel.
Thank you for the view!

Thats how i tie it but it still just comes loose when we roll.. so IDK.. lololololol
i found this not helpful try to do different ways
I am her because i bet my belt fell of once every minut while roling today, and it annoyed me and I think my partner got anoyed to. Gotta try this out for my next time.
I figured out a way that your belt will NEVER fall when rolling its called nogi Jiu Jitsu but I'm not a hater Gi or No Gi Jiu Jitsu is great
Im yellow belt in Brazilian jui jitsu
