  • The 3rd Combat Engineer Regiments explosive detection dogs (EDD) and their handlers are an integral specialist capability within the 3rd Brigade, prepared to provide support in the detection of any form of explosive devices the team can deploy with anywhere from a section level to a battlegroup. Deploying on out field on exercise and operation is a key role of the EDD team.
Ongoing training for the EDD comprises of odour recognition and agility training in controlled environments at the kennels on Lavarack Barracks, progressing to serials at different civilian venues within the Townsville region to acclimate the dogs and their handlers at working in busy and confusing environments.
