Dave Chang makes BEER CAN CHICKEN the wrong way (and it’s so good)

  • Two days after failing at his first ever BEER CAN CHICKEN attempt, Dave gets right back on the horse. He’s committed to getting it right, keeping it simple, and making the white meat as delicious as the dark. Plus: he demonstrates a lazy man's beer pan sauce that will make you question ever doing things the “right” way again.

Love the on the fly cooking. This isn’t highly edited where everything always magically works out.

I really appreciate the stark difference between chef/restaurateur David Chang and regular home cook David Chang. Glad that no fingers were lost in the process of making this video.

Depends on how you are basing the ranking. There are some chefs, not Chang, who have earned double digit michelin stars. Other Chefs have guided restaurants onto the San Pellegrino top 100, including multiple first place finishes. @@pl7868

Geez this was awesome to watch! My first thanksgiving (2011-2012?) I started cooking a 20lb turkey at about 3pm and it was done at 10pm! 😂 idk what I was doing, but it's now my favorite meal of the year! This video took me back to the (unexpected) test kitchen experience that was that day!! Hahaha! Thanks Chef!! 🤘

I *love* Dave & Chris using/promoting Athletic Brewing. I am always looking for products that give the taste of alcohol without the actual alcohol. Whether I'm cooking for/entertaining someone who can't have it or just don't want to have alcohol myself, it's nice to know what else can be used. Now if only they could find a good sub for red wine. 😂

Just marinade in a zip loc overnight in fridge. Then place on beer can leave at room temp for one hour. Bake in a preheated oven at 425° for 1 hour and 20 minutes (4 pound bird) . Rest for 20 minutes. I have this apparatus I bought from Amazon that holds the beer can and the chicken fits over it properly.

I've been making beercan chicken for years. I've never seen someone struggle so much before with this. Also, it's the best chicken because whites are so juicy it's amazing

@@majordomomedia I've been doing it in the grill and smoker recently, it's even better. Also, I rub butter under the skin with whatever seasoning I have on hand. It elevates the juiciness even more :-)

  • @nikogianakos3013

I’m glad Dave’s made it to this point. Messy, unapologetic, lifting chicken out of a 475 degree oven with kitchen rags AND sandals. No thermometer. But relaxed looking; content. So many chefs I know are fried by this age.

  • @Lawomenshoops

Water boils at 212 degrees F. Setting the oven at 400°F, will not get the beer to boiling, does creating steam.
If you’re going to make beer can chicken, dump the beer into a sauce pan and bring it to a boil. Then put it back into the can, then put the chicken on top of the can and into the oven.

Thats NOT how one does a beer can chicken. For starters, he needed a stand, specifically made for beer can cooking. Then, the neck cavity should have been covered. Lastly, beer can chicken is best done in the grill. Just my opinion...

You're not wrong! As noted in the title, this is absolutely the wrong way to make beer can chicken!
