    Can we substitute water for lemon juice? (for both thinning it down, as well as when making the royal icing itself?) Thank you!

    • @BrittneeKay
      @BrittneeKay  2 роки тому

      Usually lemon juice is used to stabilize egg whites but if you’re looking to thin it down for a drip cake I am sure you could leave out the lemon 😀

    I love the three, but can royal icing drip be done on butter cream cake?

    • @BrittneeKay
      @BrittneeKay  4 роки тому

      Royal icing can definitely be used on a buttercream cake! The only thing is that it will dry hard, but it can just be broken off before slicing and eating. I prefer the look of royal icing over chocolate, but ganache tastes better! 😋

    I know this video was made awhile ago, but I was wanting to know if the particular silver highlighter dust you used to paint on the white drip is edible? I am wanting to use a shiny metallic silver on my cakes, but I’m worried about it being inedible and causing stomach upset. I appreciate any feedback!

    • @BrittneeKay
      @BrittneeKay  2 роки тому

      Yeah unfortunately that one is inedible! But I do review some edible gold and silver in this video: ua-cam.com/video/OyWfiyqKQX8/v-deo.html

    I would like to ask if I can use a chocolate drip on my royal icing cake? Planning to make a chocolate cake and the frosting is royal icing and some chocolate drip. Is it okay??

    • @BrittneeKay
      @BrittneeKay  2 роки тому +1

      I would not use royal icing to frost a full cake. Royal icing dries very hard and crunchy and is more for small decorations. You could use buttercream to frost the cake and then yes, you could use chocolate for the drip!

    • @darlenemartinez1004
      @darlenemartinez1004 2 роки тому +1

      Wow okay. I'm so glad I asked. But can I coat a full cake with sugar icing? Sugar icing is much more smoother right? If not I will use a buttercream.

    • @BrittneeKay
      @BrittneeKay  2 роки тому +1

      I'm not sure you'll be able to get a nice full coverage over a cake with a sugar glaze. I would definitely recommend buttercream! You can get it quite smooth with practice!

    • @BrittneeKay
      @BrittneeKay  4 роки тому

      Mmm, depends on if your whipped cream frosting is stabilized with gelatin. If it is, the royal icing still might be too heavy for the cream and cause it to collapse. I would recommend using buttercream rather than whipped cream frosting and chilling it before creating the drip!

    Hi just asking if it won’t melt if its refrigerated?

    • @BrittneeKay
      @BrittneeKay  3 роки тому

      Nope! Once royal icing dries it basically just stays hard as a rock! It shouldn't melt in the fridge, but i also can't say I've put it in the fridge once it's all dry. But I think you should be good!

    • @BrittneeKay
      @BrittneeKay  3 роки тому +1

      No I would not do that. Royal icing dries hard and really is meant just for decoration! :) I would still use buttercream

  • @mummycharm
    @mummycharm 2 роки тому +1

    Hi can you combine icing and cream for drip cake?

    • @BrittneeKay
      @BrittneeKay  2 роки тому

      I wouldn't recommend using a drip on a whipped icing because it would be too heavy, if that is what you're asking. If you are asking if you can add cream to frosting to make it thinner to drip...in theory you could, but because it is runny without an element that helps it dry I don't think it would work very well because there is nothing to stop it from dripping :)
      I think the best things to use for dripping are royal icing, ganache, or chocolate!

    • @BrittneeKay
      @BrittneeKay  3 роки тому

      It should be pretty dry within 1 hour, but be carefully because depending on how this the layer is it can be soft inside!

    • @BrittneeKay
      @BrittneeKay  4 роки тому

      It will just dry on it's own, you don't have to do anything except let it sit for a while. I'd say give it a few hours to become hard before painting or anything.

    • @BrittneeKay
      @BrittneeKay  3 роки тому

      You can use royal icing on a chilled buttercream cake if you'd like, it'll just have a crunchy texture when you cut into it. I would prefer to use a ganache drip on a buttercream cake or you can even just use melted chocolate!

    • @BrittneeKay
      @BrittneeKay  3 роки тому +2

      Hmmm good question. Honestly, I wouldn't. Unless it is stabilized whipped cream, but even then I think royal icing seems a bit heavy to put on top of whipped cream icing. The textures just don't go well together. In fact, I think drip on a whipped cream cake would be hard. Possibly a thin white chocolate ganache could work though.
