Best radio station EVER!
This is awesome!!! I totally agree that Vinyl sounds better then CD. CD;s are great for playing music in the car, but when I am playing music at home, I sometimes play a CD, but more often play records. That is where the REAL SOUND lies!!!!
WFMU=best radio station/music outlet on this entire stupid planet.
I heart Liz Berg!
What an amazing collection. WFMU Ichiban is the best.
Awesome collection. The only thing I hate is how radio stations write their name in black marker on the front on records. I understand why they do it...it just breaks my heart to see it lol.
Very cool to cover WFMU. Only station to play Beefheart, Andy Breckman, Michelle Lemay... and Arthur Lee of Love LIVE! All in the space of an hour!
This is indeed a goldmine!
used to listen to FMU in the early 80's . Them and WPRB . They were great . Still have a tape or 2 fm then .
I'll swap you for the Music Faucet and Slack!
Amazing....Also, I've looking for that Shop Assistants record for over 20 years now lol
I wish there is a LOVE button on this page!!
Nice shot of the British cutie with the swelling hips. I think I'll Pause here for a few minutes...I must say though - I was REALLY hoping I'd catch a glimpse of Jonesie & X-Ray Burns. Love those guys.
As an aside - CDs sound pretty good too. :)
I found out is in New York.
Wish we had something like this here in San Diego.
Cheers
Dudes complaining about WFMU's writing on the album covers is a fantastic example of dudes MISSING THE POINT ENTIRELY. This is a library to be used, not a collection to make cash off of.
I wish there was something like this in California.
Cheers
KEOL-FM La Grande, OR has just about that many LP's and CD's too--mainly from the 1975-1990 era....sad thing is that half the collection is between a local residence and in storage on the University campus simple because the collection has outgrown the little cottage the radio station is in.
Shop Assistants! Hell yes!
this must be heaven
Cool to see that much vinyl. Tho I have to say that this is way, way, waaaaay more than 30,000 LP's. I had a very nice collection that was close to 4,000 LP's. I have no way of knowing, save for closing my eyes & imagining shelf space, but I would say this is more like 120,000 LP's! If they paid me $10/hr I would gladly hang around and count every last 12" record, 7" & CD! I wouldn't even snatch the MISFITS & CLASH, & BLACK FLAG first pressings!
That Emergency Room at 3:15 though! Folks, that's highly recommendable killer punk from Canada that needs to be heard! You're welcome!
It's gratifying to see at least one of the records pulled in the video is in my collection. not saying which one, though.
Awesome!!!!
Thank you for the reply.
Great Collection
Ill tell you who im in love with all that vinyl omg heaven for me
I wish I worked there... awesome
@1:36 homegurl picked out Lee "Scratch" Perry Dub LP. Niceness
Liz, you bring the nerd out of me. Let's make beautiful music together!
Could you start one? If I had the dosh, I certainly would, especially since Jerry's is only about a 10 minute drive from here and he's got literally MILLIONS of records and sells them VERY cheap!!
Nice to see records being taken care of
Youll go flea markets and seeing records bending in the sun or soaking wet, i mean if you are a vendor take good care if your items, how can you sell somwrhing broken
I know it's an old cliche but OMIGOD those WFMU DJs look nothing like I pictured them!! Looks like they need a copy of the 2nd Human Sexual Response LP....
Cool video there
rad! Guinea Worms sighting at 2:35!
i believe that vinyl should've been continued and the cassette to have been replaced with the cd.also the 45 should've been continued too.
Cool...would like to send you a record which should be in your collection.....where can I send it to???
Film date April 30th, 2010.
saw "flight final", hey, i've got a copy. it was my parents.
30,000 vinyl + 30,000 CD's = 200 160GB iPods
Did they say where the station is located?
I must have missed it.
thanks
digitize it!!!
They're in New York in the Hudson Valley.
Is that Lee Scratch Perry at 1:38? & who made the Sun Ra 7" at 2:22?!
What is the song that starts at 4:20?
02:31 omar khorshid. cool stuff!
WHEN is the next WFMU RECORD FAIR!!!!?????? When, When!!!
Break out the heavy pop and click noise reduction unit, so we can hear that fine vinyl music!!! :)
How do they find everything?
I dont think they did if so then i missed it too!
im in love with EMMA
Ken's so hot!
ichaban is a cool show.
LONG LIVE ANALOG!!
did he say 30000!!
@SlimeTron5000 Well yeah..lol. That is the way it is with any collectable. I'm pretty sure people wouldn't have put Mickey Mantle rookie cards in bike spokes if they knew what they knew today lol. That still would destroy a collectors heart to see that. Know what I mean?
PIMANIA!!! 5:26
I think I have a few of your records.how I don't know
@mrhoffame - I was going to comment on that too. I have several albums in my collection from radio stations and the writing just destroys the look of the albums, especially the more artsy ones. Why do they do it? A sticker you might be able to remove with lighter fluid but black permanent marker is just that PERMANENT!
i prefer 1000 good vinyl records than 3000000 bads!
I love your vinyl collection, but as you yourselves stated, that you love the artistry of the covers, why then destroy them with permanent markers ?

Records are not better than CDs.
