Good honest review. I had hopes that this might be something, but so far my hope has been dashed. I'll take your advice to heart and give this a hard pass.
I tried it...actually, I'm sipping some right now......it's good, not great, but I love rum finished whiskey and it's not Teeling, but I like it....Cheers to one and all.
No wonder it hasn't been selling well... People who have tried the regular Tullamore are probably scratching their heads about why anyone would mess with the original.
I actually liked this one. Funny enough, a little more than the standard Tullamore DEW. A couple of things to know though: I seem to skew toward light whiskies anyway. Irish and lighter Speysides for me. Most bourbons to me taste kind of the same. And I also only had about a half ounce. I was trying with another whisky, and I don't drink much at a time. I thought this was a bit sweeter than the standard in a nice, dessert sort of way. I could totally just chill on the couch with this while playing video games. I'm still pretty young in my whiskey journey, so notes aren't even really a thing for me yet. Mostly just yum or yuck still. ;P Take that for what it is.
Yum or yuck is how I taste things the first time... you never get over that. Eventually it'll turn into "yum because... it tastes like something" but that takes a lot of practice
@@TheWhiskeyDictionary That's what I've gathered from watching Rex on #WhiskeyVault. He started out with, let's be honest, mostly just yum. ;D But he has also learned to start giving actual notes as well. I'll get there too.
Oh yes... When I get on a subject, I tend to geek out a bit... I watch Ralfy a lot, but not necessarily is order or as he releases. He easy to just jump into. AqvaVite (is that how he spells that one?) is fun. I like his recycle reviews. And I've watched some of It's Bourbon Night, Scotch 4 Dummies, Scotch Test Dummies (I think that ones right), and a few others maybe, but you, the Vault and Ralfy tend to be my gotos. :) No one I've watched quite seems to be quite as into the lighter, Irish stuff like I am. Most seem to be like, "That was good, but this Scotch(or bourbon) over here is amazing." Scotch has a lot going on, so I get that perspective. I'm just not there, and some that others like are a bit funky or gross to me. Like Dalmore 12 and Johnnie Walker Black. Both of those have some kind of funk that I can't quite place... I don't hunk it's a peat thing (maybe it is,), because I've tried Connemara Irish and I like that, but the peat is more... 9V battery flavored... Or metallic... But I like it... Does that make sense? (I like Glenlivet though and Glenmorangie) I find it hard to get too excited about most different bourbons because they seem to be kind of samey to me. Like I had Jim Beam and Evan Williams side by side and they were damn near identical to me. I do like Elijah Craig though. I don't know if it was much different though. I had it much more recently than the others. Memory ties it to maybe tasting like Bulleit or Woodford Reserve. I don't know if I could pick them out as different... Sound alike I need to try bourbon again. 😜 I started there, so I probably need to swing back around.
Please get your hands on Santa Teresa 1796 and a bottle of Zafra...both rums. Beautiful rums. I enjoy the breathe of Tullamore Dew, but they aren't capturing rum at its finest. BTW...I can't find Zafra since I tried it
The Whiskey Dic If you are overflowing, then overflow of those 2 Rums. I’m a whisky guy introduced by Islay and most recently by Irish like Redbreast and Green Spot ... just a discoverer. Rum, like the ones mentioned above, can be crazy fun too. HINT...there aren’t any great rum channels!
I personally think Tullamore DEW whiskeys are garbage to begin with no matter if its the standard one, 12 or the 18. They all have the same ending/taste "i wish there was more to it" kind of feeling.

It's a good call.
Thanks for this review! This expression hasn’t reached South Africa yet, but I’m glad I know what it’s like before it gets here. Cheers 👌🎥!
Still not there, Gustav? We got it to Finland 1-2 weeks ago. Haven't tried it yet..
I just bought this bc there was no jameison...its not bad at all, maybe to someone who has tried them all but to me its fantastic
I have been drinking four roses and for 17 bucks you get a decent whiskey Tellamore Doe I always thought was very weak tasting but very easy to drink

My wife loves it!
For me Its ok, don't wow me. I do like the regular D.E.W
Its wimpy.
crazy I like it more than the original
More power to you!
What do you think of the new Thumbnail style?
That works very well! Just like I envisioned.
I like both but this one looks clean!
The nosing and tadting wete 100% your idea.
LOVED the production Bill. Now up the whisky. LOL
Hah! I think I'll do an Ardbeg this week
What a bummer! I was excited for it, being an ex rum lover. Was hoping to get a little rum flavored whiskey. I stillwant to try!
You may enjoy it, but if you havent you should try the balvenie Caribbean rum cask
Like the new format. Interesting review.
Thanks !
interesting... I had the Teeling Rum Cask and found it very nice. Thanks for the heads up! So many other whiskeys out there to enjoy.
Yea, I generally like when distilleries mix it up, but this one just fell flat for me

I'm glad you watch both of our channels. Have you checked out some of the other UA-camrs too?

Price?
Near me, mid $20 range
Is it true what they say: „This is Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde in a glass!“...sounds interesting ✔️😅

I love rum but I have this terrible curse... I'm OVERFLOWING with whiskey. :)

I've considered "The Rum Runner" as a channel. Problem is time... I don't have enough.
You don't have to create a channel. If you find them, give them a try. Especially if you are relaxing in a tropical undisclosed location :)
Man... I forget what vacations are like. I do love some good rum. I vacationed in the Caribbean a lot when I was younger
100th like
Nailed it!
Your intro says "80 Proof", but you say it's 43% ABV (86 Proof).
Damn it... I didn't edit that spot. That happens when you edit while exhausted!
'tis OK. I know how you strive for accuracy. I don't know what it would take to fix it.
Reuploading the video :(
Seriously, he says 43% lame..... it’s funny how there is always that one person.. Ralph Pecker, grow up and keep your opinion to yourself...
Thanks Knackers, but it's all good. He's not wrong. I just wish UA-cam let you update videos
