I have blocks where I can’t get a certain word or phrase out but when I tell someone that I can’t get it out I can say it without the blocks , it is a bit weird hah
I have the exact same thing, I don't repeat a certain sound like "m-m-m-may I.." but my words are instead blocked and 90% of the time it's always the first word of the first sentence, once I have started the sentence then it flows pretty good. I noticed that it helps to make some type of sound before I start a sentence like "hmm" or "uggh" etc, if that doesn't work then I try to think of a synonym for the word that I have gotten stuck on. If I have managed to beat a certain word that I got stuck on then I can say it over and over again without stuttering.
GZA yea me too I I don’t stutter at all when I speak but when I try to start a sentence with like do it’s like something is blocking my from saying “do” once I say it I can talk normal.
This is just superb, I been tryin to find out about "nervous stuttering treatment" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Rincaas Stammify Blocker - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my partner got cool success with it.
Thanks for the info. My stuttering is not as bad as it was when I was little, but it often kicks in at random times of the day. It gets worse when I'm nervous, but I have many "block" sounds, typically words that start with the hard g sound or d. And it all gets heavily amplified when I'm nervous. It's difficult to not say different words, especially since I'm a slow thinker, so it's hard for me to think of a replacement word I could say easier.
Thank you for sharing your experience. Stuttering is definitely a dynamic condition that can change in different situations and over the course of one's life so your experience is very common for people who stutter. Have you considering consulting a stuttering specialist to assist you?
my boyfriend has some sort of stutter to where he just pauses, alot of the time it's when he says "he" so like he'll say something like "well i thought he-.. ee said something about that"
Hey! I know ur comment is from a while ago, but I thought that I would add that this could also potentially be something that is called atypical disfluency. I sometimes say the ending of a word and then repeat the end again, in in a little more more clipped and quiet way, right after.
I’m 15 and I’ve recently started stuttering and it feels like it’s getting worse. People are now starting to notice and ofc tease me about it. I don’t get blocks, just repetition of certain sounds or words, or ill be saying something and my mouth automatically goes back to the beginning of a sentence several times, and I tend to say um, uh, and like extremely often. I heard stuttering is rare to develop at an older age like me (15) but I’ve never noticed it until now
Stuttering can change over time so it's possible that you didn't notice it before because it wasn't impacting you. It is also possible to have a stuttering onset in adolescence or adulthood and can occur for a number of reasons. It would be best to speak with your doctor and have a stuttering evaluation with a speech pathologist.
I'm 24 and I've always had a stutter but it became worse in my teen year, My advice advice to you is to pick up a hobby that will help you boost your confidence. For me it was martial arts , i still stutter today but i can teach a class of about 50 students with out stuttering . i wish you all the best
I think stuttering is caused by a traumatic event between the ages of 2-7. As a Clinical Hypnotherapist I have found the cause of 100% of my clients. anything from a dog barking in a child's face, to a child seeing some one get shot. i have a stutter block, sometimes when i’m really excited about something and i try to tell someone, sometimes i can’t say the simplest word, and the only way for me to get around it is to either stutter my way through or rephrase the word with a synonym word, works all the time
I found out that a stutter can be caused by restricted blood flow to an area in the frontal lobe. When I was young like 14 weeks old I hit my head on a pool table. since I could talk I've been stuttering and that could be a cause of it. I've had speech therapy and it didn't work for me, I've decided to stay stuttering for now as it has become a part of my character and personality and I embrace it.
Stuttering can have a neurogenic cause, such as from a head injury like the one you described. For more information on neurogenic stuttering, visit www.stutteringhelp.org/neurogenic-stuttering I'm sorry to hear that speech therapy didn't work for you. There are different approaches to stuttering therapy, which should be customized to each individual receiving treatment. I'm happy to hear that you have accepted your stuttering.

I'm 18 and I have a stutter. my blocks are usually s's like i say " the sssssssstatue" or the "the s-s-s-s-tatue." Ill also get stuck on random words where i can sound out the first and last sounds of the word but the middle of the word is gone. Such as "the st___ue" it would sound more like "stuuuuuuooo". I also have dyslexia so you can imagain that reading something outloud is very fun for me. Haha XD
Many thanks, I have been researching "why do people stutter when they are nervous" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Rincaas Stammify Blocker - (do a google search ) ? Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my mate got excellent results with it.
Najib Casa You're welcome. I've not heard of the blocker you mentioned. It's likely that this program has little to no scientific research behind you so I'd caution you to be careful. Good luck.
Winner of a video, been searching for "why do i stutter yahoo answers" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Rincaas Stammify Blocker - (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my colleague got amazing results with it.
I knew a guy years ago who had an odd and very different stutter. I was wondering if there was a name for it. Heres example of how he talked. If he wanted to say “I got a one of those new CD players” he would actually say something like “ On I on I over what is it go me one those new on new on Ceeee uhhh you know Deeee players” I’ve never heard anyone else talk like that. I felt bad for him because he was a really nice guy.
I came across this video to better understand my interview with a client. He was stuttering so much that I thought it was triggered by nervousness cause he maybe shy or could be a neurological issue. Thanks for this video, helps me better understand different types of stuttering.
I noticed that often times it comes down to an insane level of self-awareness. With friends I'm less likely to stutter, tho sometimes it happens, but during an exam, for instance, I am much more self-aware and my stuttering increases a lot. Same happens during a course, on the phone, talking to somebody new and anything else similar. I think it's psychological and it has a lot to do with self-esteem as well. It actually is so ridiculous that sometimes I don't use certain words because I become too self-aware of using them thinking, at the same time, what others think.
@1:40 the prolonged words.... My 2½yr old is doing this....I don't know if that's too early to even be watching for this but I notice it because she speaks so well for her age so it sticks out when she prolongs a word. It's just like you said...it's like the word is stuck in her throat. It's no particular words that I have been able notice but should we be monitoring this early?
I get stuck on certain words of sentences. Like when I say I don’t know, I can get stuck on “I don’t” and I’ll continuously repeat myself until I give up. Its like my brain and tongue aren’t co-operating.
I was diagnosed with Parkinsonism (unknown cause) at 35. At around 48 I suddenly started having trouble getting words out. Every time I talk, the muscles in the back of my neck seize up. I don’t slur my words but I get stopped after every word or two. I can keep talking but it is very broken up and gets much worse when I’m stressed-sometimes to where I can barely speak. I take Mirapex for the Parkinsonism and have had some improvement with Primidone. Before the tremors, I also had a hard time communicating things in an organized way. I joke that my conversations are like Tarantino films. All out of order. My concern is that my son is now showing neurological symptoms and I worry about a genetic factor. Are you familiar with anything like this? My doctors are stumped.
There is someone in my class who, while he speaks, he pauses. So hes just speaking and in the middle of a word he just pauses for a second and continues the word. He does this around 5 times per sentence. What is this?
BunBun it's commonly used by people who stutter, including myself. When they feel like they will stutter the word they're about to say, the pause is used.
Thank you but I dont think he has a stutter. He speaks very well and fluently but when he speaks in front of the class and gets nervous, he pauses for like 0.5 seconds between words. When i talk to him one on one, he doesnt pause at all. I might be wrong but im not sure
There are a variety of reasons a student could be doing this such as stuttering or word finding difficulties. It would be best for your student to be evaluated by a speech language pathologist.
I know this comment is a year old, but stuttering can happen at very different times. I talk normal around my family, but tend to have "blocks" talking to strangers and even good friends.
I have partial and tonic clinic seizures that affect my memory, language, and comprehension and whenever I block I snap my fingers really fast in my ear to make me remember what I was saying.
i started stuttering from the age of 5 when i first went to pre school, i would get bullied a lot and it made it worse. im 15 now and it kinda good a little bit better, i stutter at the beginning of a word its sorta like a block and i also stutter on vowels especially on short U’s A’s and O’s its like u-u-u-umbrella. Therapy never really helped but i learned to be more confident with my stutter😁
A few times a day I notice that my voice kinda just cuts out in the middle of a word and I have to swallow to get it back. I have no idea if this fits the definition of a stutter but I really have no idea what else to label it as.
If I get a block, I start at the beginning again, no matter how far along the sentence I made it... Which can get annoying, but I just _have_ to get it out perfectly.
Is there a way to know for sure if you have a stutter? Because I think I do but I'm not for sure and I don't want to disrespect people who do. I often get anxious before speaking and repeat words or randomly add f sounds before words, it's almost always an f sound. I also speak in mixed up sentences because I think of the proper words once I've already started talking. & I was the 1 thousandth like to the video :)
Am 35, i began stuttering from childhood.its so painful that am not able to explain myself clearly because many people dont take me seriously even some loose interest in listening to me, I will forever be grateful to Doctor isibor God will continue to Bless you sir more knowledge. You can also stop stuttering
Is it considered stuttering if instead of repeating the first sound/syllable of a word, you repeat the whole word? Like in a sentence, "The red white fox that that that jumped over the fence."
I don’t know what this is but I have some type of speech problem where when I talk about something for some reason I always talk really fast. Thus I also end up making no sense and jumbling up all my words causing an extremely awkward scenario where I can’t get words out of my mouth properly and can’t make eye contact at all, and even frequently move around a bit from nervousness. It appears to happen while talking to anybody indiscriminate of age or gender. I can calm myself down sometimes and talk slowly but most of the time I subconsciously talk really fast and don’t even notice until I see the person’s face who I’m talking to, realizing what I said made literally no sense. Furthermore due to this I end up looking like I’m genuinely dumb or have a mental condition (which I don’t) and it really puts me down.
Not sure if its a stutter, but sometimes Ill repeat a word twice if I feel the first time it didn't sound right, and then sometimes Ill end up mixing up the words, so like "Good Job" will end up being "Jood Gob". Speech is a strange thing sometimes
I don't think I stutter, but I don't talk fluently.... I have to pause in between words or phrases and I don't know how to say what I'm thinking and I talk like this: "Umm... So like she that we can do it tomorrow, like not tomorrow.... I mean, like when we can umm on every w days yeah" I say it in like 2-3 pauses ... And I talk in a low voice, everyone always asks to me talk louder too.... Idk what my problem is
i only have a very mild stutter like every 5-6 sentences i might stutter once. but for some reason i only stutter when im like nervous or worried or just want to say something quick but its not really saying something "quick" because i talk fast. sorry thats a lot but like what do i have?
To avoid my stutter, I use different accents when I speak, it makes me feel like a normal speaker. I thought it was a confidence problem with my stutter, it was sort of but then I took drama in school and it helped stop it. When I use my characters and accents, people would say oh I can tell he does drama, it sort of makes me laugh but it hurts a bit. I’ve used my accents so much that I hate my normal voice, I stutter a lot with my normal voice which I have to use but f I have to be formal.
Thank you for sharing for experience. There are many professional actors who stutter but don't when they are acting as a certain character. Have you been seen by a speech-language pathologist?
Yes but she said that I was different from her other encounters, she also said that I was confident so therefore there is a good chance that it will go away over time, she is right, I saw her 3 years ago and it is better. I was a presenter of a performance yesterday making people laugh and I didn’t stutter once. Pretending to be someone else makes my speaking very easy.
Mam plz i need help in speaking continusly .. iam not able to finish a sentance properly due to this problem .. i have tried many time .. what causes this problem
I have already talked to my parents abt that ...... .... I think they won't help ...... Please if your free message me in WhatsApps or Insta ....+918778957155 super_stupid07 ... Thanks
My 4.5 year old daughter has recently started shuttering. It's only the first letter on the sentence. Mainly the letter I and You. Remaining part of the sentence is just fine I really worried. What should I do? I have checked online which says that it is developmental stage which might go on its own. Its just a week now that she has started n I m worried. Please guide. Please
Im not sure if I have a stutter but sometimes I find it very hard to speak. I have repetitions sometimes, but more often the words just blank out and I can’t seems to grasp them or speak them. I say “ummm” and “like” a lot when this happens, or sometimes just pause because I’m having a hard time expressing myself. When this happens I blink and fidget, especially because it usually manifests when I’m anxious or having a high-speed conversation/debate. I always just assumed it was my ADHD, but I found out today there are different types of stuttering. Even if it isn’t a stutter, is there any exercises or things to help me communicate better?
Is word-final disfluency a type of stutter? My daughter is 5 and for 2 years has talked like this, "I want-ant-ant-ant to go to-oo-oo the park-k-k-k-k." She also stutters by repeating the beginning sounds of a word, and sometimes repeats whole words or phrases too. But stuttering on the ends of words has our SLP thinking it's just another form of saying "um" in between words. I think it sounds like it could be word-final disfluency... especially because she does it even when she's done with the sentence.
My stuttering is caused from my anxiety tics and dyslexia. My mouth twitches when speaking which sets it off. I always hold back to suppress words i know that I'll stumble on :/
I have a hard time with mouthing what I just said after I say it. That doesn't count as a stutter though, right? It just annoys people because each sentence would be in-between the mouthing of the previous phrase.
im trying to figure out if my son has a stutter so far i dont think he does but he repeats every other word when talking anyone else have a child that does this.
I have a mild stutter too and I get stutter blocks a few times. I also say the word uh a lot as well. I had a feeling it may be because of my stutter. I also agree stuttering is much more the just repeating your words. Recently I have been watching what I say and have come to realize that I don't just stutter, I pause, say uh a lot and among other things.
Thank you for sharing your experiences. We often think of stuttering as repeating sounds or words but it can be so much more than that. Using fillers like "uh" frequently can definitely be a part of stuttering.
I stuttered since I was like 4 or 5, I don’t know why or how but it was just one night when I just started stuttering for no reason. It just happened. I’ve been made fun of and called “Stuttering Stanley” from a family member, my name isn’t Stanley but anyone who’s watched the movie Sixth Sense knows what I’m talking about. It’s so embarrassing… very embarrassing, especially when I speak to a stranger. I hate to give off that first impression as a “stutterer”
I grew up English being my second language so I felt being always corrected made me develop this odd way of speaking that makes me sound odd and slurry? It sounds like stuttering but it's correcting my sentence mid conversation? Like if I'm trying to correct a "he" to "she" I say "hshe." I stutter on long words as well, and I feel like ppl don't take me serious in my profession.
I am 15, i have "blocks", sometimes i would say a word again but i would hit a long note in the first letter of that word till i give up and use a synonym of that word instead ,i would also stutter to the word "and", so when that happens i would say it again but it would be like "annnd", but currently, i have been trying to mask the stutter by saying "uhm/uh", "what's it called?" to make sure i will never relive the 9 years of bullying from stuttering again. So my advice if you have a stutter no matter how bad it is, take your time into forming a sentence in your head and memorise it before saying it out loud.
With mine, I get stuck on normal words because their hard for me to say. . . One time my parent was explaining agoraphobia and I asked: "How do people get a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-agoraphobia?" Is it just normal for a being to get stuck on a hard word like this, or not?
I get stuck on whole words and I just can’t say them, so I compensate by repeating the word before. It’s almost like I can’t stop repeating the word and then I’ll finally be able to get the word I wanted to say out. It’s frustrating
My son had delayed speech so he didn't start talking until he was about 5. Now he is very verbal but when he speaks, many times he tends to repeat parts of sentences over and over before he can finally say the entire sentence. His grand father stutters, although his stuttering is different than my son's I figured what my son does is stuttering as well. I'm trying to figure out if there is therapy or a way to cure it.
Liberty Speech Associates LLC How can I overcome from 'Prolongation ', 'block' & Repitation? You just have categorised stuttering. Please make a solution video. I have found it helpful as I can detect(identity) my issue.
Thank you for the feedback on the video. It would be difficult to make a solution video due to the variability of stuttering. A course of treatment would be best determined through a comprehensive speech and language evaluation by a licensed/ certified speech-language pathologist who specializes in stuttering.
Really helpful. I also have stuttering voice. Actually when I was a kid I don't stutter according to me cause no one has ever teased me before 13 but when I was in 8th 13 year old, one of my tuition teacher started teasing me about my voice alot and lot and from then I came to know that my voice is not normal as everyone my voice is strange. The worst feeling is when everyone says you dont have stuttering problem, but they dont know how HARD you are trying to hide it by giving long pauses or saying ummm uhhh, pretending you dont remember what you wanted to say only because you cant say the next word, or pretending you dont know something when you clearely know but you just cant say the word so you prefer to pretend that way to seem less awkward. How many times i changed the price of a service only because i couldnt say the number i was supposed to say... And when you finally open up yourself to someone because you are dying inside and you just want a bit sympthy they are like " oh... But come on you never stutter dont make it a big deal in your head!" Sometimes i wish my stuttering was more visible in my talking so atleast others who i open up to could believe my pain! I've reached to a point where im searching on youtube to see if do i really have a stuttering problem or am i just a weird person who can talk perfectly but likes to pretend he cant!
Thank you for sharing your story. I can sense your frustration and don't blame you for feeling that way. Unfortunately, the general public has a hard time recognizing and accepting disabilities or problems they can't actually see (or in this case, hear). The emotional piece to stuttering (how it makes you feel, situations you avoid etc) is as much about of stuttering as the actual act of stuttering, but because your internal feelings can't be seen by others, they're often dismissed. I assure you you aren't a weird person and you're certainly not alone. Have you looked at resources on the National Stuttering Foundation and/or have you considered joining a support group with others who stutter?
K1 I felt this on a different level dude, I always have to act like I dont know what I was going to say I completely understand how you feel and no one believes me either
my stutter was a lot worse when i was little, but nowadays it still flares up on some words where i repeat sounds or i cant think of a word so i just say gibberish or i just pause
I'm 21 and i recently started to notice myself stuttering. Its nothing too bad. Mostly just repeating the first syllable once or the first couple words of my sentence. Sometimes i get blocks but i can always get the word out, its just a bit delayed if that makes sense. I asked my mom about it and she said she hadn't noticed. So i'm not sure if i've always had a mild stutter and i'm just now noticing it, or if i just started stuttering out of nowhere. If that's the case should i be concerned? Like i said its super mild, maybe 10% of my words.
Stuttering is part external features (like repetitions) and internal feelings about it (stress, anxiety etc). If you are not bothered by the stuttering than there's not necessarily a need to do anything else. However if you did just recently begin stuttering as an adult I'd recommend consulting a doctor because there are a variable of factors that can cause adult onset stuttering
Thank you for the reply. I watched a tv show with a character who had a slight stutter and i was like "hey i think i do that" and thats when i started really noticing it. Which makes me think i've always had it and just didn't realize, and maybe my mom just hadn't noticed cause she's used to it? I don't know. I'm just worried i have a brain tumor or something lol
May you help me with something? My mother woke up one day with a speech impediment. She went to many doctors but they cant diagnose what caused it. Ive been trying to find a video or article where someone has the same speech impediment. She made a video and I was hoping maybe you could help me. Maybe you know more about the topic than i do about these types of things. Thank you. I you are willing to assist me just let me know, i can send you the link.

Hi! I’m 14 and this past yea I’ve been noticing that I have been doing many repetition and block stutters. It only happens when I’m in the phone tho and rarely in real life. I’m very confused.
Stuttering can happen at different times and in different circumstances depending on the person. It would be beneficial to consult a local Speech-Language Pathologist for an evaluation and/or therapy.
Blocks in group conversations are not fun, I find that I either just can't get my word in or I accidentally interrupt someone with a louder than normal word which makes me feel rude, as if I just butted in because I'm impatient or something. I find that y'know and or the person's name are easier to start a sentence with.
it takes me long pauses to say a sentence properly and sometimes i have to repeat myself to say a sentence properly or a word and i mispronounce it when i can pronounce it but it just happens and im not sure why like i would say a sentence wrong by accident when i can say it correctly but i dont know why it happens. i dont have the type of studdering like s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s or h-h-h-h-h-h but yeah im not sure why. i also cant explain easy things properly but im not sure if its just me growing up or just me not having studdering. but it does happen when i either talk too much or dont talk much but yeah it just makes it harder for me to speak and explain things to people. sorry if this didnt make sense i tried to explain it in as much detail as i could. but yeah i dont know if its a type of studder or its just me not knowing how to speak properly without repeating myself. i also say um and uhh a lot when i talk so yeah.
Very informative. Good video. But what do you call the condition where a person tends to speak really fast and often hesitates when it comes to pronouncing words. This is what I have, I can't seem to say words in a sentence without having to pause for a while and then say it. Almost like nervous speech or something.
Without conducting an evaluation, it would be difficult to say. Speaking really fast and having unusual pauses can be a sign of a condition called cluttering. www.stutteringhelp.org/cluttering
I have a stutter, I get serious blocks and sometimes it’s more like breathing, like I’ll say a word and I’ll either get blocked and can’t speak or I would say d d-ha ha ha down.. there. Most of the alphabet is letters of words I can’t say and get blocked and stuck on, but i have been to speech therapy and it’s genetic as my sister has it too, but she works fine with it now as she is self taught and never went to therapy. Again, I went speech therapy and I don’t now, only because I got taught everything she knew about it and I learnt to slow down my talking as I’m British and speak really fast. and also breath after saying 3 syllables and keep talking, it gets worse when I’m nervous which causes severe anxiety, it also gets worse when I go back to school and it’s bad at the moment, I’m not sure if it’s stress, but My stutter techniques don’t seem to work at the moment because it’s that bad. Its also that bad that I have a panic attack, which is why I tell all of my teachers when I started high school in grade 7, that I’m not comfortable in speaking infront of the class and that still occurs and I’m now in grade 8 nearly term 2. I’m glad I’m sharing this and I hope you guy understand what I’m going through at the moment, thanks for listening to my story. :) Any tips of what to do at the moment to help my stutter techniques get better, or new ones?
I do the um thing almost every sentence, what it is called if you stop in the middle of sentence and just resay the sentence? Like "The chromebook needs- the chromebook needs to be charged"
I was talking to my mom on the phone and I just couldn't get the words out anymore. I had to stop and gather myself again. I've noticed that Everytime I try to speak fast and sound normal like others I get stuck. I got so emotional and my mom told me I was Stuttering and that My dad and some of his brother used to stutter alot. 😢😭😭😢😢
Thank you for sharing your experience. Stuttering definitely has a genetic component. Have you seen a speech pathologist to help you cope with the stuttering?
I usually stutter when I say the words: "I" , "when" "if" and say "umm" usually when i cant get the word im trying to say out, while thinking about the right way of saying it without messing it up
1my stuttering is not bad at all it just happens when i mush my words and i have to say it again. 2when i am thinking what to say and decide what to actually say and i say what i was thinking to say in a conversation-that’s annoying. & 3when i say a word that i think is next when i’m reading and i’m wrong. i stutter when i talk for a while or when 2 happens.but i’m totally fine with it even though i would’ve liked to go to speech in elementary school.im 15🤷♀️
Thanks for sharing your experience. If the stutter isn't bothering you, that's a good thing. If at any point it does, it's never too late to see a speech pathologist
I'm 23 and I have stutter. I got the block stutter and the repetitive one, and I also talk fast that sometimes no one understand what I'm saying. They said I'm just eating my words that's why no one understands it, but for me I clearly understand though and more often I raise my voice to conquer my stutter
I kind of stutter like when I say a word I get stuck on the first letter so I’m like “m-m-m-my” or “b-b-b-bee” and I’ve been researching and the web says it’s mostly brain trauma or tumors but I’m pretty sure I don’t have those
How long have you been experiencing it? Has anyone else in your family ever stuttered? It would probably be beneficial to be seen by a speech-language pathologist to provide strategies to cope with the stutter.
Unfortunately, stuttering is not something that can be cured but there are strategies and therapies to reduce stuttering and improve confidence with stuttering. I'd recommend contacting a speech-language pathologist in your area.
I have blocks where I can’t get a certain word or phrase out but when I tell someone that I can’t get it out I can say it without the blocks , it is a bit weird hah
Have you looked into speech therapy?
Know your pain man, I have the same thing, I “block” on certains words but when I explain it, it works!
Im writing a character with a stutter and wanted to do it right. Thanks for the info!
You're welcome
Have you considering consulting a stuttering specialist to assist you?
my boyfriend has some sort of stutter to where he just pauses, alot of the time it's when he says "he" so like he'll say something like "well i thought he-.. ee said something about that"
Jewal Fire Thank you for sharing. The pausing could be potentially be a "block" type stutter.
Hey! I know ur comment is from a while ago, but I thought that I would add that this could also potentially be something that is called atypical disfluency. I sometimes say the ending of a word and then repeat the end again, in in a little more more clipped and quiet way, right after.
Mostly when i stutter i say: Uuuummmmm or aaaaaaaa or evne nothing. So u're right!

Wait i kinda do that and i thought it’s just nothing

i have a stutter block, sometimes when i’m really excited about something and i try to tell someone, sometimes i can’t say the simplest word, and the only way for me to get around it is to either stutter my way through or rephrase the word with a synonym word, works all the time

I too use synonyms for the words that I get blocked on
I always thought that having blocks was just me but thank you for this video. I'm slowly getting better and better
I have blocks with the word ''can'' so I replace it with ''I'll'' during certain situations lol
I have it with the letter p, i will block in every word that starts with p
So like I mean this all seriousness and genuine curiosity but does the stutter happen if you say it in your head or is just in the verbal sense?

I found out that a stutter can be caused by restricted blood flow to an area in the frontal lobe. When I was young like 14 weeks old I hit my head on a pool table. since I could talk I've been stuttering and that could be a cause of it. I've had speech therapy and it didn't work for me, I've decided to stay stuttering for now as it has become a part of my character and personality and I embrace it.
Stuttering can have a neurogenic cause, such as from a head injury like the one you described. For more information on neurogenic stuttering, visit www.stutteringhelp.org/neurogenic-stuttering
I'm sorry to hear that speech therapy didn't work for you. There are different approaches to stuttering therapy, which should be customized to each individual receiving treatment. I'm happy to hear that you have accepted your stuttering.

Ill also get stuck on random words where i can sound out the first and last sounds of the word but the middle of the word is gone. Such as "the st___ue" it would sound more like "stuuuuuuooo".
Based on what you're describing, it sounds like he was using interjections (AKA filler words/sounds), which is pretty common in stuttering.
I have all these types of stutter in one. My problem is low confidence so I go in a conversation already defeated
Anxiety doesn’t help too :,(
I 100 Percent Agree
I go in deflated talking most of the time, but also when I get excited I may have some impediment.
1:08 blocks,
1:40 prolongations,
1:55 interjections,
2:30 secondary behaviors
@1:40 the prolonged words....
This video needs to been seen by THe world . AMAZING VIDEO . Wow Thank you .
I get stuck on certain words of sentences. Like when I say I don’t know, I can get stuck on “I don’t” and I’ll continuously repeat myself until I give up. Its like my brain and tongue aren’t co-operating.
I stutter where like I would say the same thing or I will have to close my eyes and say it slow

Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm so happy to hear that you are feeling more confident.
Ahhh this is me ! I’ll be in a mist of a sentence or almost finishing one and start over because I messed up a word !
Hi, thx for this video it helped out a lot
Is there a way to know for sure if you have a stutter? Because I think I do but I'm not for sure and I don't want to disrespect people who do.
I often get anxious before speaking and repeat words or randomly add f sounds before words, it's almost always an f sound. I also speak in mixed up sentences because I think of the proper words once I've already started talking.
& I was the 1 thousandth like to the video :)
Awesome explanation!! I needed this for a class
Its called cluttering
Can someone have a prolonged stutter and a block stutter or is it just usually one class of stutter?
Not sure if its a stutter, but sometimes Ill repeat a word twice if I feel the first time it didn't sound right, and then sometimes Ill end up mixing up the words, so like "Good Job" will end up being "Jood Gob". Speech is a strange thing sometimes
I don't think I stutter, but I don't talk fluently.... I have to pause in between words or phrases and I don't know how to say what I'm thinking and I talk like this:
"Umm... So like she that we can do it tomorrow, like not tomorrow.... I mean, like when we can umm on every w days yeah"
I say it in like 2-3 pauses ...

My 4.5 year old daughter has recently started shuttering. It's only the first letter on the sentence. Mainly the letter I and You. Remaining part of the sentence is just fine I really worried. What should I do?

I always hold back to suppress words i know that I'll stumble on :/
Could a spinal injury be a reason why I stutter.?
What techniques are there to reduce stuttering in everyday life!??
I have problem with words that start with H; for example: hard, heavy, hexagon even hello or hi
Are word final disfluencies a type of stuttering?
I'm wondering the same thing!
Thanks. A coworker speaks like a prolongation stutter but she didnt say she had one so I was confused as hell as to why she talked like that
How about fix your camera so you dont have 100ft of Target curtain behind your head

My stutter is weird and makes me move my head a lot and have a lot of blocks
I do this thing where I go “ a, a, a, amazing “

it takes me long pauses to say a sentence properly and sometimes i have to repeat myself to say a sentence properly or a word and i mispronounce it when i can pronounce it but it just happens and im not sure why like i would say a sentence wrong by accident when i can say it correctly but i dont know why it happens.
i dont have the type of studdering like s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s or h-h-h-h-h-h but yeah im not sure why.
i also cant explain easy things properly but im not sure if its just me growing up or just me not having studdering.
but it does happen when i either talk too much or dont talk much but yeah it just makes it harder for me to speak and explain things to people.
sorry if this didnt make sense i tried to explain it in as much detail as i could.
but yeah i dont know if its a type of studder or its just me not knowing how to speak properly without repeating myself.
i also say um and uhh a lot when i talk so yeah.
Very informative. Good video. But what do you call the condition where a person tends to speak really fast and often hesitates when it comes to pronouncing words. This is what I have, I can't seem to say words in a sentence without having to pause for a while and then say it. Almost like nervous speech or something.

I edited the comment. Have you read it?
Without conducting an evaluation, it would be difficult to say. Speaking really fast and having unusual pauses can be a sign of a condition called cluttering. www.stutteringhelp.org/cluttering

Thank you very much.
Nice ..
Loves from India
I’ve found that my blocks are caused from being too nervous. When I’m not nervous I’m fine.
Great Video
I have a (mild) stutter where I repeat letters and words that's all
Thanks for sharing your stuttering experience!
How to fix the stuttering, I don't want to have this anymore
Have you studied interjective stuttering as being used for audience manipulation??
Im 11 and im stutter it feels so hard beacuse you cannot speak properly😢
Thank you for sharing your story. Do you work with a speech-language pathologist?
I do the um thing almost every sentence, what it is called if you stop in the middle of sentence and just resay the sentence? Like "The chromebook needs- the chromebook needs to be charged"
That would be a repetition. You can repeat sounds, words or phrases.
@@libertyspeechassociatesllc836 thanks!
I have a question. Can anxiety cause someone to develop a stutter?
Did you ever get an answer
@@EzekielGrim nope, lol. Still waiting, haha.
That's what it's called? A block??? I sometimes cant even say certain words
My mouth just wont process the word
I was talking to my mom on the phone and I just couldn't get the words out anymore. I had to stop and gather myself again. I've noticed that Everytime I try to speak fast and sound normal like others I get stuck. I got so emotional and my mom told me I was Stuttering and that My dad and some of his brother used to stutter alot. 😢😭😭😢😢
So I guess it's genetic sometimes 😢😢😢😭
Thank you for sharing your experience. It may be beneficial for you to see a local speech-language pathologist.
I’m 15 and when I talk to my friend I will sometimes be like heeeeey mark and it’s annoying
@@libertyspeechassociatesllc836 I’ve been experiencing it for a few months probably and no, none of my relatives ever had stuttering
Please suggest some methods by which i can rid of suttering
Unfortunately, stuttering is not something that can be cured but there are strategies and therapies to reduce stuttering and improve confidence with stuttering. I'd recommend contacting a speech-language pathologist in your area.
You can try joining Stammering Cure Centre run by Partha Bagchi. I have what you can call moderate stuttering and the classes are helping me a lot.
