  • Here are some tips on how to inflate and set up the Backwoods UltraLight Kayaks.
The inflation order is listed at the valves.
The tubes use a standard Boston Valve. Test to make sure the valve collar is tight.
When using the included ultralight foot pump, install the Boston Valve adapters to both ends of the hose. Insert one end into the Boston Valve on the pump, and open the air intake valve cap.
Unscrew the cap of the valve on the kayak. Hold onto the valve with one hand and then insert Boston Valve adapter, pressing in firmly until the adapter is seated. The adapter should stay in the valve when you let go.
(pro tip- if the adapter is not staying in valve, lightly sand the adapter tip)
Inflate the tube to the recommended pressure.
As an ultralight option, the multi-use bag can be used to inflate the kayak. First, unscrew the valve cap on the kayak, then remove the valve body from the bag, and screw the bag to the kayak valve. Trap air in the bag by closing the roll top. Compress the bag, forcing the air into the kayak. Repeat until fully inflated. Remove the bag and reinstall the valve body to make it a watertight drybag.
Once inflated firmly screw the cap on, the tubes should be firm to the touch but have some give when you press on them.
The inflatable seat uses a standard twist valve. Twist the cap to open and inflate by blowing air into seat. Once inflated, simply twist to close.
If you are inflating on a hot day in the sun, it may get soft when you launch if the water is cold. Float the kayak in the cold water and splash the tubes to cool them down. Then do a final top off.
Any time you are leaving your kayak on shore in the sun for more than a few minutes, the heat may expand the air in the kayak. Make sure to release some air so they do not over inflate and get damaged. Before heading back out, re-inflate to the correct PSI.
