One important thing you need to do on ps2 games as I showed on my videos , on emulator need to change graphics settings- rendering to vulcan and second emulation settings- ee cycle skipping to maximum underclock then ratchet and clank is going on 60fps and many other ps2 games runing smooth , ive checked 40 ps2 games and even GOW is smooth , your welcome
Another awesome video by one of my all time favorite UA-camrs... Thank you, Retro Dodo, for keeping up the work even when you're still working your way up! Your videos make my day, and having you in the Retro Gaming community is a blessing. Keep up the good work, guys! By the way, I love those SMG4 thumbnails, LOL!
I would buy the Retroid Pocket 3+ over this BUT I really don't like Android as an emulation frontend (tried all the apps like Pegasus, Dig, Dajisho etc). I much prefer a Linux (EmulationStation, Jelos etc) experience.
Seems like this is basically a rehash of the Hardkernel ODROID Go Ultra, right down to the chipset and weird broken functionality. I hope it gets fixed someday. The D-pad centric OS design and bigger screen are just what I want.
I really like my powkiddy x55. Too bad they made it less ergonomic. The side by side shoulder buttons is weird. The x55 was great shape strange they got rid of that. I do like the OS on the powkiddies.
Although, what do you recommend for an out of the box system that runs ps2 and original xbox? Something i do t need to mess with other than to load up games.
i like Max3 Pro spec, but not comfort with the layout button.. should like Powkiddy X55 layout with non-simetris Analog + L1,L2,R1,R2 button.. this Max3 Pro layout & spec very similar with my Odroid Go Ultra..
I feel with the rk3588s on the way out now. I think powkiddy might swing for a home run this next handheld. Or else I feel they might start to disappear lol.
The issue with most of those older games is that they're difficult, if not impossible, to find copies. And if they exist, they won't be cheap. Plus, how would you even extract roms from cartridges??
There's aftermarket dumpers out there, but tbh just download the roms lmao. I got a copy of my Pokemon Gold save that I dumped from my cartridge but that was for backup purposes :p
Powkiddy has good ideas, good specs, even good design, but it's the lack of quality that makes it a deal breaker. I would 100% buy the V90, but it just feels like a toy and not something worth anything like an anbernic device is.
I had a similar experience with this device - I bought it based on the reviews of some other UA-camrs who apparently got really good results with PS2 emulation but for me the majority of PS2 games were completely unplayable (to the extent that some wouldn't even run). In fact, I believe in my case, even some PSP games had noticeable lag (although most PSP ran fairly decently). This was quite a big disappointment and I am wondering if the differences in results is due to differences in reviewer test models.
I've got this and it is good fornthat price, psp x2,x3 upscaling with full speed , almost every ps2 games working, just need to change cycle rate on options and is working fine mostly
I brought 1 and love it... especially old school mame...galaga...donkey Kong, galaxian... etc in Tate mode IE .vertical play..👍🏻 Dreamcast ,psp plays flawless and n64 PS2..full screen not 4:3 for me...£130 with SD card I'm happy gamer
Device and screen are way too small for me. All of those 3.5" screen devices are not even a consideration to me. 5" or above only. I dont need hand cramp after 10 minutes of playing or squinting at a tiny 3" screen. Ill pass.
Powkiddy is just a reeeaally unreliable company like I recently bought a rgb10 series device and used it normally for 3 days and the device stopped powering on.I later found out a few years later that the sd cards they sell with the device are real crappy and will corrupt easily.
@@pleasuretokill the point of all theese 3 or 4 inches screens is that old consoles had very small resolution (NES 256x240, SNES 256x224, GB 160x144, GBA 240x160 and so on...) and when using new, big resolution screens, the games look stretched too much. so even thou they have like 4" with 640x480 the games are already like 3x or 4x times upscaled anyway, and they not supposed to be more, because then they look bad, to be honest.
@@adziup im 45 years old bro. I literally grew up with the NES, Master System, SNES ect. It has less to do with screen resolution than it does with aspect ratio and screen size. 4:3 content looks terrible on a 16:9 screen stretched. Still. My point stands that any screen under 5" is simply too small for my eyes. Maybe 4.5" if its 4:3... Either way, yeah man. What these kids call "retro" was literally my childhood. Playing on a 24" Panasonic CRT in 1988 was a luxury. Trust me.
ALL that space alon the sides and bottom of the device and they decided to "retroid pocket 2" the device and make a shorter screen and add buttons below it. RG405m THAT'S how you position a screen! Also, I feel like they were going to add a second SD card slot between the HDMI and USB-C but then decided to go Android and opted out of the idea. Wow! If you're not going to include WIFI or a touchscreen, why go with an Android OS?? =/ Good review, hard pass for me, my next handheld has to have solid Game Cube and PS2 emulation for less than $150. =)

Wait actually? Is it THAT powerful? also thank you.
My first Powkiddy is the RGB 30 which I love. The one here you are reviewing is one I would never pick up. Good review and thanks.

Same but android had better emulation for psp and up
Any chance jelos run on retroidpocket? jelos is really a great gaming os, simple and just works
I love how we all want simpler names and yet they're getting more convoluted 😅
Retroid is the only one I can ~sort of~ make sense of their model names but even that is getting hard
These model names are sound more and more like football offensive plays. "Here's the Powkitty Triple X Slot Raven Hook Sweep Mark 2 handheld".
Yep Can't wait for RBQX8675309BFG Pro minus+ 2

5:13 - I hear you, Baldie! ;DDD man, those shifty eyes made me laugh so hard
This handheld looks like a variant of the RGB30 when it comes to design.
I wonder why they abandoned the form factor of the 10Max2. Bummer.

Screen looks a little dark to me … but I don’t know what settings you had / have … Mega Drive Vectorman 2 is a good test!
On May 2024 Rocknix OS build....I have myself a pretty rock solid PSP and GameCube 😄
What happened to the original guy that was doing reviews on this channel?
Of 2 minds. 1. I like that it's a non android device. But, missing the wifi and features from the max2
I got one for about 92 dlls with free shipping and for that price theres nothing better, not even the S2 with the 3.5 inch screen
Although, what do you recommend for an out of the box system that runs ps2 and original xbox? Something i do t need to mess with other than to load up games.
did OTG slot can understand usb wi-fi card?
Is the Powkiddy RGB30 more powerful than a Miiyo Mini Plus? How do i know which PS1/N64 may run on the RGB 30?

I just wonder how much longer Powkiddy will go on for. Everything they put out there seems to have more negatives than positives
Yeah, it's a shame. Sometimes they release a good one... sometimes.

Does it come with games already or do I have to download them?
🎵🎶And they don't stop coming and they don't stop coming. 🎵🎶
They usually last 2 years and buttons will stick my Powkiddy RGB10 Max2 did that
Hi! What do you think between this one and rgb30? Thanks!
RGB30 for sure.
For someone who just wants a quick fix of PS2 PES6, this device (with the proper tweaks) is your bang for the buck.
If users can make the HDMI port work, there is zero excuse.
Any other horizontal Linux based handhelds that can run PS2?
You don't get to use the word "PRO" if your device doesn't have Wifi or Bluetooth and you have problems getting the Hdmi to work

It’s a no brainer to get the retroid pocket 2s (with 4 gigs ram and 128gb) instead of this with a better processor and android based.

This handheld is definitely not worth it, too buggy + as you mentioned another handheld can play the same games for cheaper. Good review!
