As an alumni, this man is the worst President Michigan has ever seen. He has insulted the rich legacy of peaceful protest at the University of Michigan. Michigan student movements have been on the right side of history during every major civil and human rights movement in our country. There has never been a university President or Board at Michigan who have been less connected to their students, parents, faculty, and alumni. This video is empty words, and President Ono could not care less about the mental health or safety of students. If he did, he could not deploy police to attack entirely peaceful student protestors, insulting the liberal legacy of Michigan and putting those students at risk for exercising their constitutional right. I live in Ann Arbor. These students have been peaceful, and consistently resisted outside agitators trying to escalate. Michigan should be proud of them and supporting them. Shame on him and on the University for posting this tone deaf, and blatantly hypocritical video while openly attacking students.
