    Thank you so much, I have learned a lot from your techniques and methods...not that I would ever try this at home.
    I also have experience working with high voltage mainline electrical supply.
    You need really to know how dangerous this stuff is to fully respect it and stay safe!

      STOP doing wood burning!!!!!!! THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. DO NOT TRY THIS!!!!!!! Even if the steps in the video are followed, YOU WILL BE KILLED WITH JUST 1 SLIGHT MISTAKE!!!!!!! IT’S 2000 volts, 20 times electricity needed to kill you in an instant. ONE TOUCH to the surface of the wood/clip/table/equipment WILL KILL YOU. AGAIN, DO NOT DO THIS!!!!!

    I’m an artist, welder, sculptor etc. My dad’s a welder, firefighter and has many other trades under his belt and my grandpa was a master woodworker and built instruments too. So after seeing some bad injuries growing up, I have a healthy fear of engines, chainsaws, electric machines etc. I was always told to respect the tool!! My dad always says the machine doesn’t care if it cuts your finger off or injures you in other ways, it’s important keep safety as your number 1 priority!
    Often times using tools without paying attention to what you’re doing 110% is when you get hurt. Especially when working with fast moving parts or electricity.
    If there’s anything I’d suggest for your videos is to tell people to RESPECT THE TOOL and keep safety as your #1 priority. Thanks for sharing your videos! They’re neat to watch!

      @bruceburnswoodshop1620  Рік тому +2

      Well you’re absolutely right that the tool doesn’t care if it takes your finger. It’s just something you always have to pay attention to while working. I appreciate the feedback! Respect the tool!!🤘

      Be very careful if you try. I do not recommend it. Many people don't understand how high the transformer puts the voltage up to. They think they're dealing with your household 120v when it actually puts the voltage up to 2000v or more. That kind of thing will fuse your contacts to your cornea and burn you from the inside out from a single touch. Sometimes it can even jump gaps. It would be incredibly painful, but usually death is instant. Imo it is not at all worth it. Transformers are not something to mess with unless you know the exact science behind them. Especially step-up transformers.

    From Co Springs, I stumbled across this in my feed,. I'm a multimedia artist, and I found this Oh so tempting. you make it look easy, and you don't talk as fast as an auctioneer. Informative, not staged, and, (the worst) you make a 66 year old feel like, I can do this! Great wood working. I did notice the sound, speaking volumn , was inconsistent.

      Do not do the fractal wood burning. It can VERY easily kill you, and in the few cases you survive an accident it will maim you and likely start a very large fire. It is possible to do this without problems, but incredibly risky and extremely hard to make safe. All it would take is one mistaken touch

What advice would you have for someone starting out in wood working in being profitable? Is this a hobby or a business to you? Also an electrician, so this is definitely up my alley.

      Thank you! To be honest with you, I’ve gotten more efficient at making these pieces but it still takes around 5-7 hours depending on the piece.
      If you’re looking to make money , there’s many other things I would recommend before woodworking, it’s hard to make any significant money. It definitely depends on what you’re selling and for how much. But I will also say I don’t know if there’s anything that’s quite as enjoyable and satisfying as working with wood.

    I have built my own fractal burner and made several projects. I enjoy the process. I did, however, get bit by the burner on my first try. Thank God I had some friends there, too. Took about 18 months to get close to it again. I now have a foot switch and do one step at a time before stepping on that switch. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger or wiser. I'm much wiser today. Great videos.

These things have killed and injured many people. Watching this has given me a wish to do it again.

      If I did not press the the kill switch down nothing energises and it did not latch so I guess its a deadman switch too. One thing I did do which looking back was way more dangerous but gave nice effects was having one electrode attached to a Nylon rod about metre long which I used to touch the wood and do finer work. It is extremely dangerous with no room for error. Do it at your own risk. Before you do it ask yourself do I fully understand everything involved with this and do I accept the risks up to and including death. This project has killed trained electricians.
      After all of that If you decide to go ahead and do it you *MUST* always treat it like it's live and dangerous even if you swear it's unplugged. *DO* your own research until you fully understand every aspect of the project and safety measures to take. (be aware there is no way to fully eliminate the risks of death) Remember all it takes is the smallest mistakes to get a one way ticket to the afterlife.

    Great project! Love the video. Good pace and narration. I appreciate your words on safety with the wood burning but you really made me cringe with your hands so close to the table saw blade. Please get some push sticks to keep you hands out from between the blade and the fence.

      Thank you. This is really helpful feedback. I really do need to use the push stick more often. Sometimes you just get in the flow and don’t want to slow down but your right!

    If you charged $500 for this, you're underselling yourself. I would double your prices.

    No, nope, nada!! That wood burning equipment is not safe at all!! I'm glad you are knowledgeable in electricity. The majority of us are not as knowledgeable in it. This
    Is scary!

    Saw your video some time ago on your set up using one of those hard plastic cases for tools and I haven’t built one myself like that but I definitely still plan on it. I like the idea a lot better than having it just out in the open while using, Just an accident waiting to happen. I got recommended this video asking an AI for some inspiration on what I can do with my random assortment of boards I have burned and filled with epoxy and coated like yours. Really like the mountain idea and I think I’m gonna try it, I’ll be sure not to make it an exact replica or anything 😝(just a joke, because you know, fractal patterns lol)

      Come to think of it a fractal isn’t even a pattern anyways, is it?

      Dude knows his shit. I've been burning for like 10 years and it still scares me. Probly burned through 100 mots by now, but I built a case for my burner so it's safer, also surrounded on 5 sides with coy fans blowing full speed to keep cool. Seems to help so far

    • @Woodburnworks
      @Woodburnworks Рік тому

      @@seanweiss6729 what’s making you blow through them? you just holding down on it full blast letting it arc? jw, I’ve only had one or two blowout on me so far in the last couple years and those are off just random old microwaves. I always do my burns in “burst”, using a foot petal to tap it on and off sometimes to manage the heat buildup from continuous arcing, and a variac could be useful for you too, i have one but idk how i feel about it yet, wasn’t getting as much power throat as I wanted but there’s about 5 to 10 different factors that could’ve contributed to that instead of just the variac. Really wanting to get a neon sign transformer at some point, I heard those things work a lot better if you get a good one and can make better patterns because of the higher voltage, unless burning through material, charging it from just the raw heat of the high amps from mot.

      @seanweiss6729 Рік тому

      @@Woodburnworks I've got 4 neon sign transformers sitting. The mots worn better that the ones I have at least. They were from a local shopping center that got torn down, but they worked. . I think they are burning up from overuse... IDK. Usually doesn't take more than a day to get a new one... Free too.

      @@seanweiss6729 yea absolutely lol, mot are such coincidentally perfect objects for the job, and also extremely easy to get, often free, almost anywhere lol.
      also do you know the voltage and amps the neon sign transformers are rated for?

    Badass pieces. Fractal wood burning is scary. I've been doing electrical work for 15 years or so mainly on the dc automotive side but still understand how dangerous it is.
    What are the mountains being used for? The one thing I was curious about was if they are using them as wall pieces they may be rough to hang with the way you lobbed off the peaks on your backing. Couldn't you have just used luan as the backing and it would've been easier to form to the mountains? Either way, kick ass job!!!

    • @bruceburnswoodshop1620
      @bruceburnswoodshop1620  Рік тому

      Yup super dangerous!
      It’s being used as a wall art piece, I used a string tied to 2 equally spaced screws in the back. This method makes it really easy to get it balanced perfectly.
      And thank you very much!! 😁

    As a lineman, usually you should be using Ag TO cable on your connections. That will handle that type of voltage in a very ometer doesn't hurt either
