    We just go back a few weeks ago and that is exactly what happened to us, also this was our first trip over 30 days so my wife had to ask for the balikbayan visa. Everything we read said to have your marriage licence, her birth cert, proof of this and that. The officer didn't ask for a single thing from my wife(US passport) or me. He just stamped the year-long visa and said enjoy your time here.

    hello.. glad to see you travelling the world, just to mention that the Philippines is not alone in "not checking what is technically required". Same here in USA. But when you go to German speaking countries ... the likelihood of getting checked on what is required is much higher.

    Being senior is different treatment in the Philippines, you don't have to fall in line, and no luggage inspection or going thru the scanner or baggage xray.

    That's interesting. Let me explain the opposite side of that Etravel. My wife flew into Cebu on EVA Air yesterday. We did the Etravel for immigration and she (as well as the entire EVA flight) were given Customs Declaration cards and the customs in Cebu would not accept them and forced everyone to log into their Etravel and complete the customs form on the app! Nobody knew there was a customs section because any info you find just says to fill out the immigration and use the UPC code given. My wife said it was a mess because there is no wi-fi in the airport! If you travel folks, fill out the customs section of Etravel as well!

    Grandpa vlogger, we went thru customs last week also having filled out the latest version of e-travel. They scanned my backpack and waived us on, which I appreciate. We don't have illegal items, nor do we have commercial quantities of goods. You must remember, the job of customs is to detect illegal items, plants and contraband etc. I'm sure customs over the years have developed techniques to identify individuals who they should perform a more in-depth inspection. I hope you will not be complaining if you were selected for a more detailed inspection.

      I understand that fully. But at least they should not ask passengers to fill out forms that they don't even collect.

    Out of all the bloggers about the Philippines, you are the only one I respect. I would get rid of JRC Consulting, though (Delete the video of your site). They owe me about 1000.00 US dollars, which they haven't paid back, and they really make your solid integrity look bad. Truly, enjoy your retirement.

    I forgot to do the fill out the Etravel when I went in February, I don’t know why I forgot about it but they asked for it and made me go fill it out. After I did it they didn’t check it the next time I went through the line.

    • @johnlacey3857
      @johnlacey3857 6 місяців тому +1

      @@vloggergrandpa2707 Agreed, but the disclosure is usually on the customs form (“Are you bringing more than USD 10,000 in cash and/or negotiable securities?”), and if you reply YES on the form but they ignore the form... you will have followed correct procedures and yet authorities will have dropped the ball. But then I guess money laundering is nothing new in the Philippines.

    You are opening up a can of worms and may lead to misunderstandings between the government and travelers. Your bags went through multiple inspections from your embarkation point to Philippine ports of entry. They’ve been x-rayed, dogs sniffed and eye-balled. If your customs declaration does not match what they find in all inspections, then you will be interviewed and required to explain. To avoid any confrontation at the port of entry, just follow the rules.
