Animated Bucky is either a happy teen or an angry screaming dude. While live action Bucky is a soldier with PTSD and really gives us a reason to see him as a threat. xD
Rejoice, What if...? Will bridge the gap and bring angsty Bucky to animated glory. With Sebastian Stan voicing (shortest recording session in history?)!
Thing is live action Bucky is more scary when he's quiet. My eyes snapped when he whispered to Zemo that he was gonna kill him when he caught him snooping in his notebook. People think you have to be the loudest person in the room to dominate but Bucky proves this isn't true. I wonder how much they pulled from Sebastian Stan's personality since he's also an introvert.
True but it was just the composer who screamed into the mic to give that sensation of.someone being trapped inside of an deadly assassin's. So yeah but I like bucky scream better
it always makes me laugh, buddy, youre ass jumped out of the sky onto his head with NO QUESTIONS ASKED and tried to rip his throat out. wtf you think he ran?
Fun fact: The MCU Winter Soldier theme is a heavily edited sample of Bucky’s scream as he fell down the mountain Edit: It’s actually the composer screaming, but it has been interpreted as Bucky’s scream as he fell
Sebastian Stan was Iconic as Bucky. I always remember that one interview video, when they were looking for castings for the First Avenger movie. Basically what i remembered was how Stan wanted to audition for Captain America instead. But apparently, the woman running the cast finding saw a “brooding darkness” within Stan. So she gave the next best thing, the role of Bucky to him instead. Perfect.
It would make a really good violent animated film in line with some of the Netflix animation or from an anime studio. Start with a reiteration of the train sequence from The First Avenger: the train barreling toward camera around the mountainside. A zip line enters from frame left and Bucky and Steve decend. We see them fight their way through like in the first film. Then the scene of Bucky falling from the train but reverse shot. Instead of from Steve's perspective watching Bucky fall we see Bucky's perspective: Steve, hand out reaching; calling his name. The camera pulls back and only the white star on Steve's chest is left as the background darkens around it. Bucky's scream becomes more and more distorted as the Winter Soldier's theme begins and the white star begins to bleed and becomes red... Cue torture montage of creating the Winter Soldier. The Russin code words being spoken over the score: the Soldier is being prepped for a mission. Smash cut to giant white date (a la Civil War): some time in the 70's, height of the cold war, Moscow. An explosion rocks the Kremlin and St. Peter's square... Would make an excellent political action thriller in the vein of The Jackal.
I seem to remember a cartoon version where they got separated when they were in the air and Bucky's foot got stuck on a ladder, or a rocket, or something like that and Cap having nightmares about it. Does that ring a bell for anyone else? Also, Rocket's "I'll get that arm" always cracks me up.
I keep telling anyone who will listen on the internet or IRL that a mature, violent animated Winter Soldier film set during the Cold War is the way to go. Netflix has produced some good original animated content for a mature audience that doesn't hold back on the violence or gore. MARVEL should get on that wagon. The What if...? Series is not exactly for "kids" but neither does it go all in with the level of maturity that is required with The Winter Soldier. A gritty political assassination thriller in the vein of The Jackal is what is needed.

@@ichigokurosaki7505 Not quite. Winter Soldier debuted in Jan 2005. Red Hood debuted in Feb 2005. That is not enough time to copy a character especially for what were big stories for both titles.
