For those of you whose Surtr can't deal enough damage, bring Tequila and someone to keep him alive. Deploy him when the wisps start to appear each wave and he should have his red level skill ready by the time the dragon comes back. Put him directly left-behind of Surtr so that you will still have the free tile to bait the dragon's sword.
I just did mine with Ch’alter, it works, I don’t have tequila so I’m gonna have to wait for the rumored rerun, also, I received my skin voucher today, it’s probably from kroos, should I use it on specter? Cause I saw her alter version, is it peler?

Since I've played long enough to have almost every 6* I tried brute force... wasn't really getting anywhere. Replaced Popukar with my maxed out Blaze, though and just never retreated her. Though I was stupid enough to bring 2 AOE Medics so only Perfumer's passive was doing anything ._. Still worked lol. Which just proves how good this guide is. (Eventually though I got smart and put a medic behind Ethan since you can out Ranged Ops on ground tiles in this mission. If I only I had found this brain sooner lol)

Oh wow, I never even considered using Ethan, I find it hilarious that the 'main' event gimmick can for the most part just be ignored by a single relatively-free 4-star unit (as he even can deal with the teapot summons), to the point that I even wonder if they forgot that Ethan s1 existed when thinking this up. Like, I thought I was being smart for bringing Ros with her 2/3-in-1 hits, but this is so much better.
This helped a lot, but the dragon kept failing the stage at the end before I could ever get Surtr back. Instead I swapped to 6 medics and a Saria to keep Surtr alive and do the last phase all in one go lol. Very scuffed but it worked.
Finally did everything exactly as told, and Surtr died a tiny sliver of the boss's healthbar at the end because the highest level Surtr in my friends list is lvl 70. Can confirm, level matters here.
this is a SAVING GRACE!!!! since the invitation to wine rerun is out now, ive been struggling on this boss.. i managed to beat it pretty easily by bringing surtr, mlynar and pozy and just using all 3 on the last phase to kill him quick.
At the last phase of the boss i just rushed with Amiya S3 and NTR S2 so the only enemies left are the wisps (the burned tiles are gone if sui Xiang dies). Anyway, thanks for the guide Kyo!
My Surtur was always dying while the boss had 10% HP. He killed her if I left her without good medic so for the end you also need medic who can buff defense or ATK of your Surtur (I used Warfarin). Pick a lot of another operators like 2-3 medics and defenders. Because sometimes you won’t have enough time for redeploy.
I just beat it. I followed your strategy and I beat it while also throwing THRM-EX at it at the end to insult it more. I spent 3 days farming to E2 May so I could borrow somebody else's Surtr just so I could beat this. I am so happy that it is over and I doubt that I will ever let this grudge I now have against May go. Thank you for your help, once again.
thank you!! Youve made arknights so much more enjoyable for the new revival event: i used mylnar instead, all the sames steps as sutr (dont kill at 2nd stage, retreat and wait for ethans redeployment). 3rd stage, place ethan and aoe guard one block to the right, place a strong defender infront of mylnar. finish off with another strong guard, silverash, lappland, etc
what a pain in the ass was this boss, i tried a "normal team" got rekt 1st stage, tried surtr, had hope of finishing it, damn obliteration ray that blocks everything. thanks for the video did that hold with gravel and everything went nicely, and as always I'm shocked by how easy you solve it
for anyone interested you can actually not use Kroos at all and still get the same results, Ethan can overwhelm the cups and fires and if you are worried for the damage of the boss killing surtr, use your medic skill to prolong her life, should be enough to match the damage on this video or if you healer is really buff, have Surtr do more damage on the boss befor it kills her and you have to redeploy
beat it even faster by using the same team. But, I ommited the time after 6:55 by adding Nightingale & Warfarin for additional heals along with hibiscus in the last phase AND Amiya with Chimera. Chimera does enough assist damage to compliment surtr that it will finish off the boss and you wont even need to put down gravel or worry about that middle section at the end. Just make full use of the bottom ranged section. I was also placing Myrtle behind ethan to get as much points as possible.
Was wrecking my brain trying to beat this with my m2 surtr. I used ifrit with her 2nd skill one block away from surtr and it ended up doing enough damage to beat the boss
Ugh, I've tried this twice, but I'm just a bit too slow around 7:15 putting Gravel down & keeping her alive to have the lane stay useable. Think I'll step away for a bit then come back again. Surtr *will* chop this dragon into pieces! *Update:* After a little troubleshooting & bringing both Thorns and Nearl Alter into the mix, I've successfully obliterated the dragon & shall never return to this stage again 😀
It's kind of annoying that you want to make fun of people complaining about your guides, but yet every single video of yours I watch it's like there's SOMETHING not being told that you kinda need to know to do the stage like how you do it (i.e., people in the comments clarifying that operator X needs skill level Y for the strategy to work, or operator A needs to be level B for it to work, etc.) I mean, I think the number of comments here from people attempting this strategy and commenting that's it not working is a testament to this. Because I tried this exact strategy, exactly like you did it, borrowing a level 90 Surtr with a fully upgraded S3 and she gets killed before this boss is even at half health. So, what the hell am I and every other single person here who also can't keep Surtr alive missing?
If you're struggling with this like I was and have Nightingale, her E2 summons count as blockers for the beams in Phase 3. I used them to keep a second lane open for extra dps on the boss. Otherwise my set up was more or less the same as Kyo's here
Do you not know that you can borrow friends units lol? He literally says in the video that if your friends dont have a surtr, ask around in his discord. Maybe pay attention to the video before acting like a smartass lol

Finally cleared this, only took like 8 attempts of bad timing and the boss doing the sword attack when it's not supposed to. This boss imo is up there with Frostnova and her bs rng for worst bosses
I have been searching for Surtr as my support unit for IW-9, but I couldn't find the Elite 2 Surtr with the relevant skills as you mentioned. One of my operator has just upgraded to Elite 2 for the sake of finding that right person, but I still couldn't find it...
Was able to brute force this stage with Sutr, Skadi S2 and Taxis Alt without needing to wait. Skadi can be use as a fast redeploy to easily finish off the boss each phases remaining HP, Alt Taxis can stall the boss, kill the fire and does damage.
Ugh i finally broke down i finally broke my rule to only level husbandos this dragon was just too much thorn could deal with the first two form but the last one nope had to level my own surtr i just can't do this anymore and rely on support surtr.
not me being cheeky and bringing eyjaf to suppliment sutrs dmg in phase 2 and then ethans redeployment time being still at 40s when the small mobs come
Wow thats funny i just barely beat this boss so wanted to see the strat for it but it was exactly what i did! Protect 1 lane for Surtr. I also was using a bunch of 6 stars to help but that flame attack at the end wiped everyone out. It timed out on me on my first time from not protecting the lane.
God, this is a horrible fight. I have Surtr at E2 lvl 90 but 'only' M2. It had a fraction of HP left, then did the explosion attack while I was waiting for operators to recharge -_- Just not enough damage output. Great guide, it's just ludicrous how demanding Arknights is for exact % and the like... Going to bring some backup apple pie for this one. Edit: It worked, just :D
for some reason I keep failing at the very end where you have to protect the lane from getting lasers on it. my operators keep dying too fast and the whole lane gets covered, and then the dragon explodes. but ive followed everything exactly step by step - only thing different is I don't have melantha leveled so I'm using a different guard ;;
I'm following the strat, and using a max level M3 Surtr, but I keep failing, with the Surtr somehow dealing noticeably less damage that yours. What am I doing wrong?

Ok, having a problem. At 8:04 or so in when I drop my first character to bait the sword there, for some reason he never hits them with the sword tail. He kills them with a single lightning roar type instead. Five times now, last time I dropped three baits before her and he just quick lightninged each of them in one shot before tailing her right after. Keep falling short like on the last 10% of it's health. Anyone else get this or know the reason for him picking different moves sometimes here? EDIT: Finally killed it, but had to bring in another three units to do the final battle in addition to the basics. Still seems like an issue with the current guide though if I can't replicate what he does in the tutorial, all works fine right up to that point, then I need to use a different method as at 8:04 area he just doesn't behave the same way as in the video. (playing on Android, US).

As someone who's not familiar with how Surtr works, I probably redid this map 20 times because I didn't know when to activate Surtr's skill and why just dies sometimes without lasting the full 8 seconds of immortality. I just assume that someone else needs to take dmg before her some something? idk anyways beating this map took me prob 2 hours but hey I did it.

yeah, this aint gonna happen for me. i just today got my first Elite 2 char (perfumer), but that still left support Surtr at skill lvl 7. so i cant one phase the first wave, since noone but surtr really deals any dmg to it. note that iw8 was super easy, even without support units. really i dont understand the game design behind this one. when that thing just globally kills all operators in 2 or 3 hits, tactics become meaningless. difficultywise iw8 is probably closer to 1-1 than to iw9.
Seems any big bad slow moving boss is just a punching bag for the Orange Trio (quadro? I don't have Surtr). Saria+Eyja+Ifrit S3 melted this overgrown lizard. It however had the audacity to laser Eyja in the face during her Volcano. I think I've been too lenient with him. Dude prob has never experienced something like the buff army in his thousand year inceldom.
Really sucks that the game pigeonholes you into specific ops or gives no breathing room for any sort of team diversity. Feels like 'If you don't bring op A, you either need op B or C. If people want super difficult content, that should be what the EX stages are for. Normal even stages should be more accessible. It takes me a bit longer to process information so stages like this are super disheartening.

Worked wonders for me, even though I had to take Ethan to SL4 (guessing that extra second was helpful to finish off the flamey things)

I had been using blue poison and skalter s3 to barely kill some of the enemies when I could've just used ethan lmfao
Shirayuki's and Podenco's S2s can also help out a bit in a pinch.

I did it backwards. Since Surtr can't finish last stage alone , I pulled in Chalter and Ejya to help with damage. Barely made it.

Strange, my Lv.88 Surtr with S3M3 and trust 74% manage to deals significant large damage like in the video. What trust level does your Surtr have?

Support units have half the trust when borrowed. The lender needs to have the unit at 200 Trust for the borrower to receive 100 Trust.

Keep falling short like on the last 10% of it's health. Anyone else get this or know the reason for him picking different moves sometimes here?
EDIT: Finally killed it, but had to bring in another three units to do the final battle in addition to the basics. Still seems like an issue with the current guide though if I can't replicate what he does in the tutorial, all works fine right up to that point, then I need to use a different method as at 8:04 area he just doesn't behave the same way as in the video. (playing on Android, US).
Are you waiting until the dragon is fully on the field? I had that problem by deploying too quickly once

a quick PSA:
if you don't have Surtr, you can bring Hui-Chieh. don't be ashamed, the whole boss fight is a DPS check.

As someone who's not familiar with how Surtr works, I probably redid this map 20 times because I didn't know when to activate Surtr's skill and why just dies sometimes without lasting the full 8 seconds of immortality. I just assume that someone else needs to take dmg before her some something? idk anyways beating this map took me prob 2 hours but hey I did it.
thanks so much Kyo!! Had less dps on my part so i would die at the end from the explosion but with amiya s3 i managed to kill second phase without waiting another Surtr cycle

yeah, this aint gonna happen for me. i just today got my first Elite 2 char (perfumer), but that still left support Surtr at skill lvl 7. so i cant one phase the first wave, since noone but surtr really deals any dmg to it. note that iw8 was super easy, even without support units. really i dont understand the game design behind this one. when that thing just globally kills all operators in 2 or 3 hits, tactics become meaningless. difficultywise iw8 is probably closer to 1-1 than to iw9.
Is there any alternative if you don't have surtr?
I've tried with amiya S3, but falls short.

Seems any big bad slow moving boss is just a punching bag for the Orange Trio (quadro? I don't have Surtr).
Saria+Eyja+Ifrit S3 melted this overgrown lizard. It however had the audacity to laser Eyja in the face during her Volcano. I think I've been too lenient with him. Dude prob has never experienced something like the buff army in his thousand year inceldom.
Really sucks that the game pigeonholes you into specific ops or gives no breathing room for any sort of team diversity. Feels like 'If you don't bring op A, you either need op B or C. If people want super difficult content, that should be what the EX stages are for. Normal even stages should be more accessible. It takes me a bit longer to process information so stages like this are super disheartening.

good guide, ethan can also be level 1 no promotions, with skill level 4, works the same
The passive on the skill does the work, stats are irrelevant, does same damage no matter what
