Anyone who is thinking about adopting but feeling discouraged by comments and other people's experiences saying it was too difficult for them, DONT LET THAT STOP YOU FROM TRYING!! Be open-minded about the breed, and apply with various rescues! I adopted my 70 lb German Sheperd Lab mix as a 12-week old puppy while living in an apartment with a boyfriend and still got approved! You don't always need a fenced-in yard or have to own a home!
I have looked at countless medium size dogs on petfinder.com at shelters in Michigan. Most say you must have a fenced-in yard. Good to hear that this isn't always the case. I will be living in an apartment on my own in about 1 year from now. I am only considering apartments that are dog friendly and would want a puppy or adult dog that would be between 30 and 80 pounds when full grown.
Sarah Schneider I also experienced this in Minneapolis. I looked at every organization in MN and WI and SD to find the dog that was right for me and every time I was always turned away because I didn’t have a fenced yard. Then I found Midwest Animal Rescue who approved me for a dog but then had to surrender him because he attacked my boyfriend and his dog and they were so horrible about the whole thing :(
Many shelters aren’t as strict in person as they are online. I only rescue and they try to “scare” you just to make sure everything is best as possible, which is great. I agree, just keep trying and fighting! Also breeds shouldn’t matter (minus health concerns obviously). I have gone to the shelter before for one dog and came home with another! It’s all about the dogs personalities💛
I have a rescue husky mix with shepherd and he turned out to be so good. He is the sweetest dog ever (my bf didn’t have much hope for him at first but he loves him now) and we live in a small apartment and all we did was take turns to walk him 3 times a day for one hour each. If you take good care of your puppy, breed or rescue, he will turn out good! I had a lab and the rescue and never had problems with any of them! At the rescue they prefer if you have a garden but it’s understandable that not everyone has that, we explained it to them and what our plan was and they were convinced so don’t loose hope!
I think you addressed the issue between adoption / breeding perfect! I stand by adoption 100% but also recognize that first time dog owners, wanting to get a puppy, adoption can be very difficult. Thanks for donating to that puppy organization! I’m so happy for you and max to happy a fluffy ball of joy especially during this time 😊
I don’t mean this in a bad way but he literally looks like you guys his hair color is a mix of yours and Max’s and his eyes look like yours. He’s really your child!❤️
I have 2 dogs, the first one I got when I was 20 and he's from a rescue, he's an aussie border collie mix and such an amazing dog. I didn't want a puppy while I was in college and didn't want to deal with basic training, so I picked a dog that was 1-3 years old, he ended up being about 1 or just under, but he was already housetrained and basic command trained. He is 5 now and such an angel, however rescuing does come with issues that getting a puppy from a responsible breeder doesn't. He's very timid, fear reactive, and has horrible separation anxiety where he couldn't be left alone at home, he would break out of crates and hurt himself. My second puppy was to relieve the older one of his anxieties which has helped SO much. He was raised with puppy culture and ENS so he literally isn't afraid of anything. He has helped my other dog so much, I couldn't go through all of the issues I did with my older dog again and a responsible breeder that I had been in contact with for a couple of years was the better option for me. I can absolutely support buying a dog responsibly, because a lot of people can't deal with behavioral issues. He's adorable! Congrats!
I’ve been watching you for a long time but never comment on UA-cam, however I feel compelled to today! I’m really impressed by your disclosure at the beginning of the video about adoption vs ethical breeding. One thing that people don’t consider is that adopting a dog can be a considerably larger commitment than getting a reliably well tempered bred dog. Especially for younger people who have busier lives, getting a dog from a breeder may be the best choice to give a dog it’s best life. Especially considering the trauma that occurs if a rescue dog doesn’t work out, I believe it’s totally acceptable and a responsible decision for first time (as a couple) owners to go with a dog from an ethical breeder. That said, I’m also impressed by your donation to help other rescue animals. This is setting a good example for other potential dog owners as well as influencers.
Okay sure and I’m not here to hate on Gretchen either, I think it’s a perfectly respectable choice if you know exactly what kind of dog and what age of dog you want and Brody is so cute and such a perfect choice for them. However, just because you go through a breeder doesn’t mean a dog is reliably well tempered and just because you adopt doesn’t mean a dog will have behavioral issues. We adopted an Australian shepherd puppy, a generally sweet and loving breed, and she would have never hurt a fly. I think it’s important to find the right shelter, be educated about the type of dog you’re adopting and make sure that you can spend some time with the dog, maybe ask to take them for a walk or foster them for a few days so that you can get used to the dog’s temperament and personality, esp if you’re a first time dog owner. And if a shelter won’t let you do that then it isn’t the right shelter. Be open to shelter dogs having quirks too! Some of them have been through a lot and have walls up that come off as aggression just like people. Most shelter dogs just need a lil love and maybe some training classes
So happy for you!! We were able to rescue our golden retriever from a local rescue and even though I 100% love that we got to rescue her, I have now fallen in love with golden retrievers and know it’s soo hard to find one in a rescue even though I got so lucky! So happy you rescued from a well breeder!
I love that Gretchen is one of the few lifestyle and I guess more "beauty guru" you tubers I follow that really puts her money where her mouth is. I feel like with her announcing she wants to become more financially educated and focused, she seems to be making more, at least public, donations to tons of organizations. I think it's so cool that she recognizes the financial stability she has and uses it for the better rather than only flaunting it like so many other you tubers in her genre.
For anyone watching who is thinking of getting a dog/puppy- please PLEASE still consider adoption. Gretchen has the right to make her own decisions and I am not here to hate on her. I am just urging you that if you watch this and you feel that tug in your heart for a special furry friend, there are so many great animals waiting for a loving home at an adoption shelter. From personal experience, I promise your puppy from an adoption shelter can be just as amazing as from a breeder or store. Again no hate, this is just to anyone who feels influenced by this video.
Yeah but also talk about how most people don’t disclose a lot of info abt the dog and my mom got bit the first time she met a dog she wanted to adopt and they asked her to put the leash on him and he bit her... adopting is great as long they care about finding the perfect home rather than being careless..
@@albanianpurplegirl absolutely ! You need to be careful about what shelter you choose same as you would a breeder. Bred dogs can also behavior issues. The organization or breeder you will be getting your dog from is something that you have to consider carefully when you're deciding to bring a new pet into your home.
Yes! My family and I got out dog when she was 2 from a local shelter and had her til she passed away last year at 12. She was the cutest mutt ever and was such a sweet girl. Obviously if you're first time pet owners you want to be careful because not all shelters are great but we've gotten 3 of our last 5 pets from this specific shelter and they were always great.
my boyfriend and i were looking at rescues for about a year to try to adopt a young golden retriever but they’re just so far & few since they are such a lovable breed. we ended up going through a humane breeder and i was a bit hesitant with that but our little man is perfect and we can’t imagine not getting him. every puppy needs a home and every family deserves to get one without being judged for it! it’s a good thing to appreciate rescuing while also understanding it’s not always plausible!
love_nyc_ people get annoyed that adoptions have needs like most dogs need a fence, a stable home, a big yard, active people etc. and people give up and go to breeders that overwork mommy dogs and unfortunately those mom dogs end up with uterine cancer and organ damage from breeding. it makes me so sad people give up so easily.
as a former adoption tech i can’t tell you how many dogs die bc of someone giving up and going to a breeder because they didn’t want to fence in their yard or adapt to a different breed...
I’m always going to be a strong advocate for adoption and rescues, but I’m so happy and proud that you made an educated decision and did your research for your puppy! I think it’s also admirable that you donated to a rescue to offset the difference, though I really do hope and urge you to rescue your future dogs! I understand how difficult it must have been for you Gretchen to say all this to the public knowing the lash back that you may get, but you know what’s best for you, and the education, research, and effort you put in is incredible!❤️❤️
He is so beautiful! He will bring you more joy than you could ever imagine. My husband and I rescued dogs for years, one of the first ones we rescued was a Golden Retriever mix as I’d always wanted a Golden Retriever. We finally decided to get a purebred Golden and we felt guilty about it and some people judged us. After owning a purebred Golden, I never want to live without one, we also adopted another dog since we got Toby, our Golden ( He’s now 11 and battling cancer). I can relate to your experience with trying to adopt a Golden Retriever, we also had a bad a terrible experience and after waiting for months and months and still not getting being matched with a dog we decided to find an ethical breeder. I don’t think anyone should be punished and looked down on because they happen to love purebred Goldens. I highly recommend you look into health insurance for him as Goldens do have some health problems. We’ve been able to provide the best possible care during Toby’s cancer journey because we have the insurance, it’s still costly, but without the insurance we would never been able to do this. I also recommend “Golden Hearts”, UA-cam channel, there are so many excellent videos on caring for your Golden and recommendations for products for your Golden. Enjoy this beautiful journey with Brodie!
yayyyyy so happy for you g!!! i’ve never clicked on a video faster. don’t feel guilty about getting him from a breeder, adoption is so so hard. can’t wait to see the amazing memories you and max have with this adorable boy💋
So very happy for the 3 of you! Anyone who can look that cute little face and the joy of you and Max and say something negative you don't need or want to as a subscriber. Grew up with several goldens in my family, they are the best!
With so much sadness in the world, thank you for sharing your special day. Brody is very lucky to have you and Max as parents. The love in this video melts our hearts...so beautiful. Congrats... :-)
Hi, I’ve watched you for 3 or 4 years now and you have inspired me so much that I can’t even explain it! I grew up with golden retrievers because my grandparents breed them and gave them to homes for free so that kids like me could have a friend for life. On my first birthday I was given a golden retriever boy named Toby that was the son of two of my grandparents dogs that they kept. Growing up we had at least 3 to 5 goldens in the home at all times until eventually it was just me and Toby. He passed at the age of 14 and I was 15. This video made me cry but out of love for what you guys are about to experience! Brody will forever love you guys and you will forever love him(I can just tell)! Also pro tip for potty training, put a small bell on a string at the door where you let him out and train him to ring the bell when he needs to go! THAT SAVED US WITH POTTY TRAINING THE PUPPYS! I wish you guys all the luck in the world along with all the happiness! I love you guys so much! ENJOY WHILE HE IS TINY, THEY GROW SO FAST❤️❤️ love you Brody welcome to the family
I have done many rescues and you could always add a rescue in addition to your new pup. I have pedigrees too but always have a rescue. Always remember goldens are high maintenance and will shed alot. I vacuum several times a day in order to keep a very clean home. OWNING A PET IS A LIFETIME COMMITMENT....
Awwww!!! I am so excited for y'all!! Y'all are going to be the best doggy parents in the world!! I can't wait for all the fun puppy vlogs! Don't let anyones negative comments interrupt this happy time! I have had experiences with both rescuing and breeding and at the end of the day you are still providing a loving home for a sweet puppy!
Also if anyone is a first time dog owner -aka no experience with dogs- I highly recommend going to your local shelter & getting an older dog!! They are great to help you learn & are usually trained!
I am so happy to have found your page! I’m going to be taking home my goldendoodle pup, R2, in 5 days. After trying to go through a rescue/humane society, and being part of various adoption/rehoming Facebook groups and not being able to get one because I do not have a fenced backyard (I live in an apartment) or the fact that I’m a college student I decided to go through a highly recommended and ethics Breeder. A big part of me getting a dog was for the pup to be an ESA. My family has rescued/adopted our other dogs and since I developed various allergies two years I went a hypoallergenic doggo. I am happy to have made the best decision for me! I can’t wait to see your pup grow, definitely gained a follow from me!
SO happy for y'all! This is such a difficult time for everybody, and this is just going to be such a light in y'all's life, and I cant wait to be along for the ride!
You have just made the best decision of your life! You won't regret getting a Golden. They are unbelievable! My Gilly girl will be 10 yo in a couple months. She has brought us more joy than we could possibly imagine. Happy for you!
This is so exciting!!! I've been subscribed to you since you graduated high school, I feel like I've watched you go through so much. I'm so happy for you guys, enjoy every moment with your new puppy! Thank you for always posting the sweetest videos and keeping me entertained over all these years.
SO cute love puppy content!! All puppies deserve good homes!!! Good for you for making an effort and finding an ethical breeder! Thanks for showing us how its done!!!
Omg I cried seeing his little face! Goldens have such sweet personalities and it makes so much sense that you’re his mommy bc of your sweet, happy personality💕
IM CURRENTLY MID WORKOUT AND I SAW THIS JUST POST AND BREAK INTO TEARS!!!! OMG GRETCHEN AND MAX THIS IS THE BEST SURPRISE EVER!!! brody welcome to the best parents ever!!!!!!!
I had a feeling this was the surprise from last vlog!! I SCREAMED WHEN I SAW THE THUMBNAIL IM SO HAPPY FOR YOU GUYS!! He’s soo cutee omgg, congrats!! What a perfect addition to complete your little family!! So much love for all of you❤️❤️
If people make the effort to rescue and do their research, that’s all I can possibly ask for. We got really lucky in Colorado because we get SO many rescue pups from surrounding states and didn’t have a breed in mind. You did everything right babe, so happy for you!
it's so sad that you have to defend your position so much in regards to using an ethical breeder vs a rescue. anyone who knows you and max knows that you'd never support animal cruelty and that you would do your research and due diligence in finding your new puppy. you are entitled to do what you would like as long as it's ethical :) he is absolutely adorable and I'm so incredibly happy for the 2 of you! you inspire me to be positive, aware and grateful and I wish we could be true close friends. wishing you all love, light, and lots of puppy snugs:):):)
breeding perpetuates the idea that making money off a an animals back is ok and it is not ok. go to any shelter and you will see that this has serious consequences for animals.
@@jamie615 Only unethical breeding (puppy mills, backyard breeders, etc.) creating "serious" consequences. Ethical breeders require that you sign a contract that says, among other things, that you return your puppy to them in the case that you can no longer care for them; therefore, puppies coming from responsible breeders almost NEVER end up in shelters. Ethical breeders also health test their dogs and will, as much as they can with the research that's been done, breed away from genetic diseases. Responsible breeding is often called "preservation" breeding because the goal is to preserve the history, integrity, and purpose of the breed. For example, German Shorthaired Pointer breeders should ensure their dogs are sound enough to perform their original task: hunting. In order for them to be able to perform this task well, they have to be physically and mentally bred for it. If even a few generations of a breed are not actively performing their original task (herding is a great example), the line will lose it's natural instinct to do so. Dogs from shelters make perfect companions for MANY people... but there are also MANY people who have specific needs that only specific breeds can meet. If you live on a farm and need a dog to guard your livestock, you will need to pick a breed that will instinctually protect your livestock from predators. A mixed breed from a shelter will likely not have that instinct. If you need a therapy dog, you will pick an affectionate, obedient breed - not an aloof, independent breed. How can you know if your dog will be aloof or not if you adopt them? Of course, not everything is predictable... dogs within breeds do vary... but there are some things you can predict. If breeding was outlawed, say goodbye to service dogs, hunting companions, police dogs, herding dogs, livestock guardians, personal protection dogs, sled dogs, etc.
jamie Jamie Ethical breeders aren’t breeding to make money; they are breeding to preserve the breed. A lot of reputable, responsible breeders actually LOSE money with a litter. The amount of money that goes into health testing, proving the parents in their field (shows, hunting, working trials, etc.), the cost of reproduction, and the cost of raising the litter really adds up! Health testing isn’t just annual exams at the vet, it’s OFA tests on hips, elbows, eye testing, thyroid, etc. (each breed has recommended tests) - that is roughly $500+ minimum. I fully support adoption, but I also support purchasing from a responsible breeder. I own a rare breed and without the breeders of them they wouldn’t even be around!
@@kelseycooke911 bs they charge over 2 or 3k for the dog and the mother dog is always losing the babies and kept pregnant! they develope prolapsed uteruses and it causes the mother alot of pain to be always producing puppies. its terrible! get outta here! "its not for money" bull shit! we dont need to preserve breeds when their are millions of beautiful dogs big and small who need homes in shelters. give me a break!
Yay!! I am so happy for you guys!! Getting a golden retriever was the best thing that has ever happened to me. I cannot wait for all of the puppy content! 😄💕
So precious! You 100% have the right to make the choice that’s best for you. I’ve been struggling with this decision for a while, so I know how hard it can be. The most important thing is that Brody has the most loving parents! Also the end of this video made me tear up... :’)
the way he was getting more comfortable with y’all and smiling and playing throughout the drive🥺🥺 im sooooo excited you have to record everything he’s perfect and y’all are going to be amazing dog parents❤️
omg SO happy for you!!! i called this on your last vlog and i'm so excited for you guys! i'm bringing home my maltipoo from a breeder next month - i had the same experience trying to rescue. i applied for SO many dogs and never got any responses and it was so upsetting. i totally understand why you are going through an ethical breeder!
Gretchen, I’m so happy for u and Brody and max. U deserve this. U are so loved and Brody is going to love you so much. He’s only a part of your life, but to Brody, your his whole life. 🥺❤️
Honestly, as long as people go through an ethical breeder and do their research I have no issues with getting a puppy from a breeder. Congrats on the new addition to your family i wish you both nothing but the best, I can't wait for all the puppy content to come!
I’ve literally watched this video like 5 times lol. Whenever I’m feeling not in the best mood, just seeing the joy you guys had getting your puppy makes me so happy. Thank you for sharing this super awesome moment with us!
just because someone does their life different doesn’t mean they should get hate or make them feel shitty. I want a golden retriever named tucker and i’m sure I will not be able to find that breed through a place. I love you, and your puppy. Such a great day!
I needed a doodle mix because of the hypoallergenic nature of their fur and I was in 100% the same situation. Those puppies just don’t end up in animal shelters almost ever so I had to get one from a breeder. Choosing an ethical and responsible breeder is still a great way to support all the puppers out their! Your donation is also amazing!
Congratulations! Thank you for sharing your experience with responsible breeders, in the end what is best for every dog is that they go to the right family and are the right match for that family. Rescuing a dog who isn't right for you just for the sake of rescuing isn't fair to the dog either, so I'm a huge believer in encouraging people to do their research and look into their options, choosing what's best for them and their family. Because ultimately, that's how dogs end up in happy, loving homes for the rest of their lives
I’m so happy for you both!! Especially you and losing your dad, little Brodey will be the best thing for you. After I lost my boyfriend, I got my puppy (he’s almost 2 now) and he changed my life forever. Cherish the puppy days because they go by so quick!
I am so happy for yall! That is gonna be one spoiled pup 🥰 Having him will be so good for you whenever you feel sad or anxious. Dog cuddles make everything better ❤
So happy for you guys!!!! Just a little tip: constantly take him on car rides as he gets bigger to get him use to the car so you can take him wherever!:)
the last part really got me. I am SO excited for you and Max wow I can't explain. This is such a big step and you guys are for sure ready for it. You will be able to look back at that montage for years to come. Thank you for this vlog, i couldn't stop smiling.
AAAAH I'm so excited for you guys! So happy that you guys got to welcome this new member of your family. I look forward to watching Brody as he grows! :)
Just snagged our cream English Retreiver in May. Shes 4 months and already big! Amazing temperament and super loving and playful (even with teeth, but she isn’t aggressive). We love our Bella
Keep an open mind to breeds!! I happened upon a mangy looking mutt on petfinder in the middle of the night 12 years ago, but I felt I should check her out, as they said she was the sweetest thing. Well, 12 years later we CANNOT imagine life without her. She is EVERYTHING. How anyone could have abandoned her on a busy highway is beyond us. All she needed was a good haircut and love- she is ADORABLE! PLEASE don't be snobby with breeds, as each dog has their own personality. Also, our medium sized mostly poodle has had no health problems and she is solidly a senior that acts like a puppy- having just gone on a 15 mile hike with us just this last weekend. No judgment if you go elsewhere, but there are SOO many dogs needing homes. Please consider first. Good luck!
It isn't about being snobby. You may not regret your mutt for a second, but most purebred owners also do not regret their choice for a second either. Not all dogs are right for every person's lifestyle and many people pick a specific breed to fit that lifestyle. If you don't know what dog you are getting it is impossible to prepare for it and may work out, but sometimes it doesn't. Husky mixes are one of the worst offenders because people pick them up cause their so cute, but soon find out that anything with a smidge of husky in it probably isn't suited for an apartment.
@@katiest.vincent4283 No need to get offended. It is a fact that many people don't look for a dog at the pound or a rescue before they look to breeders. There are responsible breeders and then too many that breed for demand and are unethical. Some people straight up buy from stores that get their dogs from horrific puppy mills. There are many many dogs put down every year that would make an amazing family pet. Most rescue organizations are incredibly responsible about being forthcoming on the dog's personality and needs so it is a good fit. Again, every dog has its own personality and the potential owner should also be aware of what kind of dog they are choosing- but that is true if they are adopting or buying. I simply said one should be open to look for a rescue dog (many are pure breeds that owners gave up), but if they buy from a responsible breeder- no judgements. Also, help control the pet population- have your pets spayed or neutered.
Omg Gretchen I’m so happy for you!!! I remember seeing how heartbroken you were a few months ago when adoption rescues fell through/dealing with scammers. What a nugget, you’ll be the best dog mom
I'm so happy you finally got a puppy! Dogs are the best :) I just saw your instagram post and got so excited when I saw your video in my sub box! So happy for you guys!!!
what a munchkin!!!!!!!!!! he's literally the perfect size, I want a lil golden that would stay that size forever! wanna see teddy meet his new pupper brother!!!!!!!
we really found Zack George books and youtube helped with us learning basic training for our puppy, also making sure you touch him always on his ears and feet so he's used to it, even with nail clipping buy clippers and just tap them on his paws so he gets used to the feeling. This is the cuuuuuuuutest vlog
You guys are going to be the best parents! He is the cutest!!! I remember when we brought our golden home who is now 5 and she still acts like a puppy! She had a little white spot on her forehead too which went away as she grew :( I am so happy for you guys.
All dogs need homes!! My boyfriend and I have always had Great Danes and our old girl passed a few months ago. It’s almost impossible to rescue a Dane pup. I’m SO excited to say that we just put a deposit down for a 5 week old GD pup last night! I can’t wait to meet our baby boy in a few weeks!! Congrats and good luck with Brody!💙
you should film him for a second everyday to capture his growth! kristin johns did it with her goldens and it was the cutest video ever

yeah I was thinking the same thing! His eyes remind me of gretchens so much! He’s so cute

so emotional thinking how they’re gonna have him for so long like they’re kids are gonna play w brody 🥺

Congrats!
I immediately looked up at my boyfriend and I said “Gretchen and Max got a puppy can we please get a puppyyyyy” 😭❤️
Me too!!!!!
I DID THE SAME THING
did the exact same thing
typing these words to my bf now lmaooo
Same hahahaha we have been looking to get a puppy but it’s so hard
I am a big advocate for rescuing dogs, but I have so much respect for you donating. I'm so happy for you and Brody is adorable!!
Totally agree. Not to mention, some people just really need specific breeds to fit in with their lifestyle that sometimes you just can't adopt them.
So happy for you!! We were able to rescue our golden retriever from a local rescue and even though I 100% love that we got to rescue her, I have now fallen in love with golden retrievers and know it’s soo hard to find one in a rescue even though I got so lucky! So happy you rescued from a well breeder!
Have puppy pads on the back seat with a big beach towel, and plenty of baby wipes with aloe. Aloe is good for the skin.
❤️
Yeah but also talk about how most people don’t disclose a lot of info abt the dog and my mom got bit the first time she met a dog she wanted to adopt and they asked her to put the leash on him and he bit her... adopting is great as long they care about finding the perfect home rather than being careless..
@@albanianpurplegirl absolutely ! You need to be careful about what shelter you choose same as you would a breeder. Bred dogs can also behavior issues. The organization or breeder you will be getting your dog from is something that you have to consider carefully when you're deciding to bring a new pet into your home.
💛💛💛💛🙏🙏
Yes! My family and I got out dog when she was 2 from a local shelter and had her til she passed away last year at 12. She was the cutest mutt ever and was such a sweet girl. Obviously if you're first time pet owners you want to be careful because not all shelters are great but we've gotten 3 of our last 5 pets from this specific shelter and they were always great.
my boyfriend and i were looking at rescues for about a year to try to adopt a young golden retriever but they’re just so far & few since they are such a lovable breed. we ended up going through a humane breeder and i was a bit hesitant with that but our little man is perfect and we can’t imagine not getting him. every puppy needs a home and every family deserves to get one without being judged for it! it’s a good thing to appreciate rescuing while also understanding it’s not always plausible!
the montage at the end IM LEGIT SOBBING 🥺🥺😭
same😭
We love the puppy content and I’m so grateful that you didn’t support a puppy mill & connected with an ethical breeder! Great job Gretchen!
The words ethical and breeder don’t go together.
No such thing as ethical breeder, it’s the term selfish people use to make themselves feel better.
love_nyc_ ik it’s annoying
love_nyc_ people get annoyed that adoptions have needs like most dogs need a fence, a stable home, a big yard, active people etc. and people give up and go to breeders that overwork mommy dogs and unfortunately those mom dogs end up with uterine cancer and organ damage from breeding. it makes me so sad people give up so easily.
as a former adoption tech i can’t tell you how many dogs die bc of someone giving up and going to a breeder because they didn’t want to fence in their yard or adapt to a different breed...
I KNEW IT!! YAY I am so happy for yall this puppy has the best parents everrrrr:))
I'm holding back tears he is so adorable. I have a 14 year old Golden and that brought me back to when she was a puppy. Be prepared for energy!!!!
You’re allowed to get a puppy wherever your heart desires!! So excited for you two! Enjoy every second!
Youre so sweet,i Wish people would protect animals the way you do 😊
With so much sadness in the world, thank you for sharing your special day.
OH MY GOSH GRETCHEN!!! So happy for you 🥺🥺♥️ you’ll be the best dog momma in the world!! 💗💗💗
OMG I KNEW IT!!!! IM DYING. CUTEST DOG PARENTS EVER
Thank you for donating to the rescue despite not rescuing yourself. You are kind hearted and I wish you the very best with your new fur-baby!
OMG THAT PUP IST LITERALLY THE CUTEST THING EVER!! SO HAPPY FOR U ALL
I am so happy to have found your page! I can’t wait to see your pup grow, definitely gained a follow from me!
omg when i TELL YOU I HAVE NEVER CLICKED SO FAST AHHH i’m so excited to watch i LOVE YOU
SO happy for y'all! This is such a difficult time for everybody, and this is just going to be such a light in y'all's life, and I cant wait to be along for the ride!
I literally could NOT stop SMILINGGGG this whole video!! I’m so happy for you guys!! 💗💗
You have to film a 1 second a day video of your puppy growing up!
I’m glad I’m not the only one that happy cries for people when I’m excited for them 😂💕
Brody’s smile made me melt!! So excited for you to be a family of 3!! You deserve all the puppy cuddles, kisses and smiles in the world!
I had a feeling this was the surprise from last vlog!! I SCREAMED WHEN I SAW THE THUMBNAIL IM SO HAPPY FOR YOU GUYS!! He’s soo cutee omgg, congrats!! What a perfect addition to complete your little family!! So much love for all of you❤️❤️
omg so happy for you guys raising a puppy together is hard work but you both will form a special bond with Brody he is so loved as he should be:)
The excitement in Max's voice when he said Brody was gonna be a daddy's boy 😭😭😭❤
If people make the effort to rescue and do their research, that’s all I can possibly ask for. We got really lucky in Colorado because we get SO many rescue pups from surrounding states and didn’t have a breed in mind. You did everything right babe, so happy for you!
Golden retrievers are the cutest, I’m so excited for this video!! ❤️
Congratulations!!! Best day ever! We got our golden last year. Can’t imagine life without him. Love the name Brody!!! Can’t wait to see him grow.
who else LOVES gretchen? she inspires me so much❤️🥺
I’m so happy for the 2 of you and Brody - he is going to bring you endless joy!!! Congrats!
God bless lil Brody. So adorable
I can’t stop crying 🥺😭I love you and max and NOW BRODY! What a sweet baby boy
it's so sad that you have to defend your position so much in regards to using an ethical breeder vs a rescue. anyone who knows you and max knows that you'd never support animal cruelty and that you would do your research and due diligence in finding your new puppy. you are entitled to do what you would like as long as it's ethical :) he is absolutely adorable and I'm so incredibly happy for the 2 of you! you inspire me to be positive, aware and grateful and I wish we could be true close friends. wishing you all love, light, and lots of puppy snugs:):):)
breeding perpetuates the idea that making money off a an animals back is ok and it is not ok. go to any shelter and you will see that this has serious consequences for animals.
She does support animal cruelty though. She literally wears canada goose jackets that kill stray dogs.
Congrats Gretchen and Max!!! You are going to give this little guy a great life.
I look forward to the first “I ate mommy’s shoe” vlog. Congratulations! Master crate training. It will save your life!
😂
the way he was getting more comfortable with y’all and smiling and playing throughout the drive🥺🥺 im sooooo excited you have to record everything he’s perfect and y’all are going to be amazing dog parents❤️
omg SO happy for you!!! i called this on your last vlog and i'm so excited for you guys! i'm bringing home my maltipoo from a breeder next month - i had the same experience trying to rescue. i applied for SO many dogs and never got any responses and it was so upsetting. i totally understand why you are going through an ethical breeder!
Wow Gretchen, your donation to that rescue foundation is SO generous and sweet. You guys are the best and Brody is SUCH a cute little nugget!!!!! xoxo
Leaving a positive comment to counter any negative comment :) good for u and super happy for u !!!
Thank you for sharing this super awesome moment with us!
i think i had a smile on my face watching the whole vlog omg i’m obsessed
G I am SOOOOO excited for y’all!!!! Cannot wait to watch you and Max spoil Brody through life and watch y’all continue to grow together!
just because someone does their life different doesn’t mean they should get hate or make them feel shitty. I want a golden retriever named tucker and i’m sure I will not be able to find that breed through a place. I love you, and your puppy. Such a great day!
Tucker is a cute name
I needed a doodle mix because of the hypoallergenic nature of their fur and I was in 100% the same situation. Those puppies just don’t end up in animal shelters almost ever so I had to get one from a breeder. Choosing an ethical and responsible breeder is still a great way to support all the puppers out their! Your donation is also amazing!
why am i crying at the ending of this video its all SO CUTE!! i couldn't stop smiling throughout the whole video 🥺🥺💗💗
crying at the end too omg
Congratulations! Thank you for sharing your experience with responsible breeders, in the end what is best for every dog is that they go to the right family and are the right match for that family. Rescuing a dog who isn't right for you just for the sake of rescuing isn't fair to the dog either, so I'm a huge believer in encouraging people to do their research and look into their options, choosing what's best for them and their family. Because ultimately, that's how dogs end up in happy, loving homes for the rest of their lives
I’m so so excited you’re finally getting a golden and can’t wait to see all the videos in the future with him ❤️
I’m so happy for you both!! Especially you and losing your dad, little Brodey will be the best thing for you. After I lost my boyfriend, I got my puppy (he’s almost 2 now) and he changed my life forever. Cherish the puppy days because they go by so quick!
AHHHHHHH I literally screamed when I got this notification IM SO EXCITED
Lol people like what they like, they’ll get whatever dog they want
Omg Gretchen I’m so happy for you!!! I remember seeing how heartbroken you were a few months ago when adoption rescues fell through/dealing with scammers. What a nugget, you’ll be the best dog mom
OMG YES IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS CONGRATS I GOT A PUPPY A COUPLE MONTHS AGO AND ITS BEEN THE BEST THING ever 🤩🤩💜💜I’m so happy for you and max🥺🥺
can’t even lie to you i had tears and goose bumps the whole time!!! sooo happy for you guys

we really found Zack George books and youtube helped with us learning basic training for our puppy, also making sure you touch him always on his ears and feet so he's used to it, even with nail clipping buy clippers and just tap them on his paws so he gets used to the feeling. This is the cuuuuuuuutest vlog
Gretchen: Dunkin breakfast sandwiches are really good
Me: She knows wassup!🥐🥓🍳🧀
You guys are going to be the best parents! He is the cutest!!! I remember when we brought our golden home who is now 5 and she still acts like a puppy! She had a little white spot on her forehead too which went away as she grew :( I am so happy for you guys.
The first thing I thought of when you mentioned his white spot was "oh thats a forehead kiss from heaven". Congrats on the new fluffer!!
