- 2 weeks before our second Century began, Stampede Park was among the many places in Southern Alberta ravaged by the 2013 floods. This is the story of the 14 days before Stampede 101 and the race to ensure that The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth would go on.
This will remain a testimony to the spirit of Calgarians, of Albertans, who have arms of steel and hearts of gold; who aspire to great things, build upon successes and rebuild to greater heights. Thank you Calgary for setting the example of unbeatable spirit to us all.

Thank you to everyone who helped the Stampede go on, come hell or high water - because it's true, if the Stampede had been cancelled, it would have been like the flood won. It did go on and I think the fact that so many people came together to make the Stampede happen, as well as to help out the affected Calgary communities (and those affected communities outside of the city) says a lot about our character. It proves that even when bad things happen, together people can make things better.
Seeing how resilient Calgary was after the floods last year made me proud to be Albertan.
