      What do the numbers in blue before the colours denote? And should I wait for 24 hours after each layer? I usually wait for 10 to 12 hours. Your work is marvellous

    • @ResinAsYouWish
      @ResinAsYouWish  4 роки тому +1

      @@chilkakanika1456 if you click the numbers in blue it takes you to that part of the video. This way you can skip through without having to watch the whole thing. I only wait for the resin to be hard enough to tap on before I do the next layer - usually that’s 12 hours, but all resin doesn’t cure at the same pace. Thank you for the compliment

    • @ResinAsYouWish
      @ResinAsYouWish  4 роки тому +1

      Pam Miller one thing I should say about the silicone oil is that you should wipe it off before you add the next layer (I use rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle) the silicone oil sits in the top of the resin, if you pour fresh resin on it puts craters in it -right away. The effect of the oil on the resin is extreme 😀

I don't know what each item is & what it is for. And did you add the colors to the clear resin, or you just poured out some from the bottle that has color & resin in it into each cup? This resin domes doesn't it?

    Mix you in this layer 4 oz clear with Carbon black and for all other colors ( white,Grass Green,Apple Green,Gold,Kiwi ) only 4 oz with clear Resin too ??
    Sorry for the many questions but I realy like your work
    because if I let the white run together with the green and go with the hot pistol on it, it becomes a silver

    • @ResinAsYouWish
      @ResinAsYouWish  4 роки тому +1

      If you use a fine grit sandpaper when you put the final clear coat on, it's utterly gorgeous. Actually it's almost exactly like getting your nails done, they sand your nails and the final clear coat takes all the filing marks off and leaves a perfect finish. Aside from the glossy finish, the other reason I sand them is to take the rough edges ingot a rounded dome and it makes such a huge difference in the final outcome. Here is my video on it

    How much resin to use for each layer as 4 layers seem allot to fit in a mold?

    • @ResinAsYouWish
      @ResinAsYouWish  3 роки тому +1

      Typically when I mix resin, I'm working on more than project, if you watch my video on cells: ua-cam.com/video/K4VrQLZQLYY/v-deo.html
      at the beginning of this video about 45 seconds in, I show how thin each layer is in the mold. These molds are 5.5 inches, and the layer does not come even half way up the coaster mold. So they must be thin in order to not end up with a heavy bulky coaster. Let me know if that helps to answer your question :-)

    A few questions...
    1.) do you mix all your colors at once so everything is prepared?
    2.) do you have to use a black bottom if you want to be able to use both sides of the coaster and see the beautiful colors
    3.) what do you mean when you say wait 24 hours before each layer?

    • @ResinAsYouWish
      @ResinAsYouWish  4 роки тому

      Hi, I do mix every color before I start. The black bottom is just how I did it, you can do whatever you want with the bottom layer, in this particular coaster the black is transparent and you can see through it on the back, but clear would also be really cool looking. Because epoxy is meant to be set down in thin layers a coaster by contrast is thick. I wait 12 - 24 hours between each later because if I rush the layers it will cause a slight ripple effect across the top when fully cured (very slight) the final layer has to be a full 24 hours or the resin isn't hard enough for me to sand. All of this being said based on the resin I'm using . the resin used in this video has a 3 day cure time - but is hard enough to tap on at about 12 hours

    Could you use silicone oil to create cells in waves? Why do you need to wipe it after it's cure what happens? Thanks

    • @ResinAsYouWish
      @ResinAsYouWish  3 роки тому

      Silicone oil drops stay on the surface of resin (they don't mix in) so the next day the oil drop is sitting on the top and if you pour resin on top of it, it does the reverse effect, it causes a divot under the fresh resin that comes up to the surface, and the effect is actually quite a bit larger circle and when cured leaves a dent on the surface. I have never tried making waves with silicone but I'm working on a Tips and tricks video on how to use it, it acts fast, makes a big impact and you can never be assured of the results. I will do some experiments for people to see

    You are amazing. I've bought silicone oil to test this. When I drip oil to my resin, it just stays as it is. İt doesn't spread not does it create cells. Any idea why?

    • @ResinAsYouWish
      @ResinAsYouWish  4 роки тому +1

      The longer you wait , after pouring and heating the resin, the less the silicone reacts. Once your resin starts to set it changes the reaction from big to smaller - to the resin being too thick to be moved by the silicone, this is me guessing since I can’t see it 😄

      it is resin mixed with mica powder (green apple) resin mixed with acrylic ink (grass green) and castincraft white mixed with resin - no alcohol inks in this one, I have linked everything I used in the comments if you want to take a closer look - thank you for watching!

    I'm having trouble with the bubbles. Even tho there's not a lot, ANY are too many right ! I warm my resin while mixing. I torch a little, for about as long as you do in this video or less. And your video is sped up a bit too. That's how short. Heat gun the same, so brief. And yet it ruins my mold. the resin sticks to the mold. I don't get it. And quite discouraged. Any other ideas of how to pop the bubbles?

    • @ResinAsYouWish
      @ResinAsYouWish  4 роки тому +1

      Hi, I am going to work on a video about bubbles in resin, I don't think it's necessary for them all to be completely gone in every project, but it can be a challenge. If you watch this video: ua-cam.com/video/K4VrQLZQLYYv/v-deo.html in the beginning I pour resin into two coaster molds, then show how thick the resin is poured (using a measuring stick) the coaster on the right, has more resin in it, and if you watch this video, you will notice that every time I show this coaster on camera again, there is constantly more bubbles migrating to the top of the resin. So for me that was a key finding, if the resin is poured thick, there are a lot of bubbles that want to migrate to the top and eventually the resin sets with microbubbles in it. When it comes to the molds getting destroyed, I have definitely had that happen to me. I find that if you fill a resin coaster all the way to the top, it always either ruins the mold or damages it. This is a good idea for me to work on a video for

    • @ResinAsYouWish
      @ResinAsYouWish  4 роки тому +1

      deboraition I only use it for the effect it has in the design. I think it looks neat. Also, I did fail to mention on this tutorial that once you use silicone oil on a layer, you should clean the cured resin before you do another layer on top. Any oil sitting on the surface will affect your design the next day- I spray it with alcohol and wipe it with a paper towel or use an alcohol wipe
