Thank you for the latest update. Very sorry for the mishap. Your reaction as shown in the video is a good example why it is such a pleasure to share your trip and "spend some time" with such a delightful couple.
guys you are doing what I should have done years ago ,Ilove your intro but in reading your blog I.m thrilled for you,yes I follow a lot of sailing sights but I must say i'll be following the boat for as long as you are on cheers fergus
Another day in paradise! I enjoyed the video, like others before it. Good thing that Porta Bote had the seats in place to provide some crush resistance for the collision.
Ha ha ha, "...While Jamie took in the view..." (14:26) (Of the Southern end of a North-bound model in little more than a swimsuit!) ;-) Fantastic Vlog guys! Really professional look to it! I've subscribed and will become a patreon when I can afford to! (Impoverished student ATM) Very unpleasant story about the trials and tribulations of being a yachtie in a foreign country. I certainly hope there's a satisfactory (And painless) conclusion to the collision. Looking forward to seeing the next episode and finding out what happened! Kind regards, Mike
+Michel Dawes [Liz] Great to hear from you, Mike, thanks for taking the trouble to comment. As you progress through the series, you'll see some changes in style and content--we've had a good reaction to the last few vlogs. Peace and fair winds!
As a retired expat and a 'greenie sailor' living in Bangkok for the past 5-yrs, I'm anxious to see how this turns out...I've heard stories that after an 'accident' --- car/boat/whatever, you have to pay the police 'upfront' to even investigate but don't know if that's accurate. You're VERY fortunate to know Jia at PSS and glad that they would put you in front of the line for more repairs...If you were 't-boned' it would have sunk Esper, I think....Beautiful sunsets!!
+sm6wet [Liz] Great to have you with us, and thank you for commenting! We're now bringing out videos weekly, so when you have a moment do check out the "Sailing Vlog" playlist to catch up with us in real time. Peace and fair winds! 🙏😸⛵
+Faoin Spéir Exactly! It really is terrifying! I was down below, twiddling about (as I do) probably humming a tune and playing with Millie, blissfully unaware in the silence and general loveliness of everything that there was any kind of imminent danger. Then BANG! CRASH! JUDDER! JUDDER! I thought we were going down. Still, the Portabote and stainless steel fender in the form of our brand new davits saved us from any major structural damage. Phew. Thanks for your kind comment. Keep watching for the follow-up... :)
The real killer is that we re-mortgaged the flat, maxed out our credit cards and spent every last penny to get Esper back to her beautiful self. There were many sleepless nights worrying about how we would pay to get her fixed. Makes me shudder just thinking about it. :(
I'm a new subscriber and very happy to have found you! I'm following a lot of sailors' vlogs, but your's is by far the best! I'd like to be a patrion, but I am heavily into rebuilding and equipping my own little sailboat, so I'm cutting costs on all levels to make my own dreams come true. I'm sorry and a bit shocked to hear about the collision, but I'm sure things will be ok somehow. After all, a mishap like that is small compared to the hazards you may encounter at sea, even if the costs of this mishap are money I'm sure you'd like to spend otherwise. I'm curious to know if the barge captain accepts any economical responsibilities.. although I'm having doubts about it... Anyways, wishing you ll the best, and thankyou again for making vids that are a pleasure to watch! S/V Tiger Lily, Norway
Dear +Uffen. I'm sorry we've only just got back to you on this message, it slipped us by and we normally like to reply to everyone. Apologies for that. We understand the cost-cutting thing, it's hard for everyone at the moment. As you'll have seen in the following episodes the barge captain did admit responsibility. It came to a positive conclusion, we're happy to report. Good luck with the renovations on Tiger Lily and fair winds to you. Cheers, Jamie, Liz (and Milie)
+Uffen S/V Tiger Lily We wish you the very best of luck and all things good with your plans. EXCITING! No worries about supporting us on Patreon, it's just great to know that you are following and enjoying our output. We love making the videos and are thrilled that people are watching them. Fair winds! Calm seas! ⛵🐬👌
Hi +mobiltec, thanks for the kind comment. We missed them last time by a few days but if they return this way we'll definitely catch up. We'll even get them on followtheboat channel for a chat.
I have seen a few boats hit other boats and just leave the scene...luckily the times I witness these incidents I was able to get the boat information before they left and on at least two occasions I know the offenders were tracked down and made to pay up. At least you had a great sunset to end the day. :)
+LifeisLikeSailing - Vancouver, BC Yep, and that was just the beginning of our (relative) good fortune. Next few episodes demonstrate the honesty and kindness of some people.
+LifeisLikeSailing - Vancouver, BC I bet that happens all the time. Great that you were able to help on occasion. Watch the next couple of episodes and you might be surprised how it turns out. We were. Thanks for watching and fair winds to you! x
Liz Cleere Yes it felt good to help for the incidents I witnessed as the offenders were not honest or kind and would have just kept on going. Glad to hear that your situation may have a better ending. :) Fair winds to you both as well...love the videos! :)
Hi Jamie and Liz hope you sort things out as I know you could do without that. Looking forward to the next episode to find out the latest and hoping it is better news. Take care Dave
[Jamie] I do hope it's a bit more upbeat than the Archers, +MrDsKitchen! You know that's where most of our internet connection goes, don't you? Liz keeping up with the Archers. And I thought I'd escaped all that!
Porta bote is still selling - might they be interested in how your porta bote dingy was so strong that it protected your boat in the collision, with only the seats bent? AM I right that the only damage to the dingy was to the seats, and the dingy protected your stern?
Actually, the Portabote did sustain more damage than we thought. It developed a small leak in one of the joins. I think it would be possible to fix but would mean taking it apart and re-riveting it.
+Ashraff Khan So glad you enjoy the videos, that's what they are there for! Kind of you to write such a positive comment, really appreciate it. Thanks!
+Liz Cleere Hey Liz I've become such a fan, I got to know you guys from SV Delos, and started to follow the boat. I totally love the style of videos you guys put out and cant wait for more. I've mat up with SV Delos and her crew and hopefully one day we could meet up too :-)
45 second intro, ah wow. In some ways you are really lucky that the damage was all very superficial and did not breach the hull. Repair will certainly be a pain in the butt.
+madogblue [Liz] After such a small amount of time back in the water since being in the boatyard for a year, it was a little annoying. But also nice to see our old friends again 😊
Not nice to see Esper getting crunched like that - so sorry, but hoping for good news with the next instalment! At least the views did much to cheer Jamie up ;)
I hope there are more views for Jamie to view, that I can view Jamie viewing in the next video I'll be viewing. sorry about the ramming of Esper. although, it caused damage, it could have been much worse.
Hehe. In all seriousness though, Alicia is one cool gal +offplanetevent. You are right, it could have been a lot worse. If the dinghy or the davits weren't there, that lovely paintwork would have taken the hit.
Hi +dmsmoreira. In this clip we were using the Olympus OM-D EM5. We're planning to do an FTB Extra on our camera equipment because it's a question that gets asked a lot. We hope to be putting that out in the next month.
the human way to kill a fish, any fish. Really. is to hold it by its tail and pour 90 proof (or more) alcohol in its gills that can be reused time and time again and it is alcohol I would not dare to drink in the first place. Be kind to the creatures you harvests from mother earth.
Thank you for the latest update. Very sorry for the mishap. Your reaction as shown in the video is a good example why it is such a pleasure to share your trip and "spend some time" with such a delightful couple.
Don't know why I haven't come across your channel before this. The video production is top notch. I'll be tuning in from now on.
Nice to have you on board, Ed. We hope to keep you entertained so enjoy the ride.

Thanks for the kind comment, +MrFergus53. Stay with us, we have plenty more coming. Fair winds to you.
Another day in paradise! I enjoyed the video, like others before it. Good thing that Porta Bote had the seats in place to provide some crush resistance for the collision.
+Steadman Uhlich Yes, that boat saved us. In fact you'll see how she fared in the next few episodes when we take a closer look at the damage.
Sorry to learn of the damage but the portabote , the davits and the push pit did a jolly good job of absorbing the energy and protecting the hull.
+Norman Boyes Indeed. The irony, of course, is that the Portabote is a folding dinghy. Just wasn't supposed to fold that way!

Jamie admired the view 😉
Sorry, +Craig Davies. Did you mean "Jamie admired the view" or "Jamie, admired the view"? I suspect it's the latter ;)
+followtheboat 14:30 on your video... While Jamie took in the view... Just thought that was perfect commentary and timing
;) +Craig Davies

We were as surprised as you were, +donjvalley, but wait till you see what happens next...
Jamie took in the view lol. ;)
[Jamie] I do like a good view, +Myles Savage
Very nice show and narrative.
I enjoyed, have subscribed and will watch you other episodes.
Cheers from Sweden

OK will do
So sorry this happened, guys.
Something terrifying about hearing that crunch, wondering how is this going to end!!?? Glad you guys are ok :-)

That sounds ominous, as in,"...you cannot be serious" type of situation!!!
+donjvalley Certainly was. But more WTF? than YCBS! Thanks for watching and commenting. :)
great video, but bad news about esper, good luck guys!
Thanks, +Phong Do
I like your channel. I see SV Delos is one of your patreons. How cool. Have you ever met them in person?
Hi +mobiltec, thanks for the kind comment. We missed them last time by a few days but if they return this way we'll definitely catch up. We'll even get them on followtheboat channel for a chat.

Without giving too much away, it works out quite well, all things considered. +MrDsKitchen
+followtheboat Can't wait...... it is all a bit like The Archers but in Thailand.
[Jamie] I do hope it's a bit more upbeat than the Archers, +MrDsKitchen! You know that's where most of our internet connection goes, don't you? Liz keeping up with the Archers. And I thought I'd escaped all that!

+Ashraff Khan That's so great to hear! I hope we do meet up one day. Stay in touch, and keep following! Thanks for the lovely comments. 👌😸⛵☺
I love your taste in music .... Id love to know what you listen to.
All sorts, Tracy. We love our dance from disco to techno and anything in between, but big on jazz, rock, and bluegrass too.

Repairs all sorted now, and the intro to our weekly vlog is no more than 15 seconds (and different each week) :)
Not nice to see Esper getting crunched like that - so sorry, but hoping for good news with the next instalment! At least the views did much to cheer Jamie up ;)
+Piper McDermot Ahem! Yes, it was well timed bumping into Alicia and American. They helped calm our nerves.
I hope there are more views for Jamie to view, that I can view Jamie viewing in the next video I'll be viewing.
sorry about the ramming of Esper. although, it caused damage, it could have been much worse.

What camera you use?

Big surprise , there are pirates/criminal everywhere. Beware or be victim!
Why is there a distinction with the police between tourists and yachties? People who visit for longer terms get better service?
wow what a shame
Very unfortunate
nice videos it is beautiful there. friendly american
Wait a minute, is that American McGee the games developer?
+adventureicecream The very same! He's a cool cat...
Oh yes, +adventureicecream, the very man.
+followtheboat wow small world.
Rammed at anchor in broad daylight with no wind. That is awful.
Do others report similar "accidents"?
Alisha is hot!
+dehdeh55 [Liz] I'm not aware of this happening to anyone else...I think we were in the wrong place at the wrong time. 😔
Thanks
She's a model? That's a stretch.
[Liz] That's an unkind comment.
seems like they did it on purpose
I'm really surprised to see cheap ass shots on this channel. If I wanted that I would watch La Vagabond
Which shots are you referring to?
14:30 I'm not offended by it or anything I was just surprised and it seemed out of place for your mellow and informative style.
+The Quizzle [Liz] Combining my voiceover with Jamie's camera work was our attempt at humour. Maybe it fell a bit flat with you...
I found your pictures of Alicia both artistic and inspiring.
+dehdeh55 [Liz] 😄😎🙃
at least $10,000 in damages...

[Liz] Yes, it's so important to kill them as quickly as possible. :(
Alicia is a hottie
thats not a boat its a reef looking for a home soon :-/ what a moron.
this is boring, whats with all the graphics?
