      Unfortunately, lawfare and accountability use the same mechanism, so the Democrats will simply cry, "Lawfare" if accountability does happen. The only difference between lawfare and accountability is justification. One side will cry "accountability" the other will assert "Lawfare" no matter which side you are on. Unfortunately, I believe that if we seek accountability, it will result in an increase of lawfare and even more corrupt system. We stand a chance of eliminating lawfare if we simply move on and try to produce a successful administration. Lawfare has only really begun in an attempt to "get Trump". Since this is his last term, let's wait and see if we can produce a more united country after this administration. If the left continues to use lawfare with more Republican candidates, Republicans will eventual fight fire with fire and then our country is doomed.

      @@goldenarm2118 I think it's too late to expect redemption for the US. We're a dead nation walking, it took centuries for Rome to finally fall down after it went brain dead. 100% agree that these people need to be held accountable and their sentences should be ridiculously harsh. Not just fines or months of sentencing but decades. The problem is that when one side BREAKS the law and continuously gets away with it they will get more and more outrageous with every act. They charged Trump with misdemeanors and upgraded them to crimes by citing an underlying felony for which he was never convicted. That is wrong on so many levels. So the punishment for doing so needs to be so harsh that no one would even think of attempting such a ridiculous course of action again. It is essentially Giuliani's broken windows argument, when you make clear that you will enforce the small crimes and really drop the hammer on all crimes the criminals will think very long and hard about committing any crime at all.

    • @68Tboy
      @68Tboy 3 дні тому +10

      @goldenarm2118 While I understand your point I have to disagree. Lawfare is war through weaponization of the judicial system. Make no mistake this is a civil war just with limited violence. Much like the Cold War. No side ever won a war by ignoring the other side. In fact I would argue this started when Trump did not target Hillary even though he hinted he would. The left took this as a declaration of war. They looked at Trumps lack of a response not in a good way but as a weakness. Unfortunately, lawfare and the war we are in will not go away until many battles are fought, won, and lost. There is no going back now. I just hope it doesn’t last too long and I prey the effects are minimal.

Well, if people were perfect and the worst anyone did was to commit a social error, then yes, the best response would be to overlook it. But when people misuse their offices and abuse the law, there should be a punitive response. The high ground is for the punitive response to be slightly less, slightly milder, than the offense being punished.
