Haven't watched this movie yet but i noticed that Jonathan Pryce plays Herod in this movie. He played in 2 religious movies i really like: as King Saul in "David" (1997) and as Luther in "Martin Luther: Heretic" (1983). Both can be found on youtube. "Martin Luther: Heretic" i think is in a way better than "Luther" (2003), since it goes deeper into Martin Luthers theology and his personal afflictions and struggles with God, though its more of a low budget tv-movie.
So would I, there was something different about this movie, it was a human Jesus who laughed and played sports with his friends, very moving, I think its the closest to how I would film it. Nobody is going to get it perfect, I do however like Ben Hur, where you dont see the face of Jesus. It should be left to the imagination, like listening to a play on the radio, we have this idea of what the person behind the voice looks like. But when we break the pottery jar and slip away the first person I want to meet is Him, first question "Why me?"
Are you sure they aired this on CBS? You said here this is a lost TV movie. Not only that they aired this in the Philippines in 1993 on RPN 9 now CNN Philippines then they air this on SBN 21 now ETC. I hope this TV movie was already release on the dvd from Fox home Video
