Bill gates is the only billionaire who laughs like a nerd, rather than how Jim Carrey said rich people would.

How cool is UA-cam that we can go back in time and watch these interviews. Bill gates didn't explain email well. No mention about shopping on the internet either.

    B. Gates said they're trying to make the computers think, that was in 1995, this is the "vertual entelgintelligence" of today and tomorrow. That's the future, unbelievable how the things happen

It's astounding to see how far we've come today with computing. Here's Letterman wondering how to possibly even utilize computer to keep up with baseball games (15:35). Today, the "computer" can do all that and much more all in the package that can fit into our pockets.

Lmao at the beginning of the quiz machine, letterman keeps blocking bill from the camera view. That was awkward to watch xD

Don Giller And how ironic that it was displaying a blue screen saying “Windows” when it crashed.

The funny thing is that it was actually just a bunch of green screens that they superimposed the text on. A laughably primitive prop. But yes, it was amusing that it crapped out when displaying Windows 95. Par for the course.

look how ahead of his time he was.
he was explaining some of his visions of a computer to the world,
and now humans need to learn to work with his vision in schools as vital information to live in this era.

It's amazing how quickly things moved in just 10 years, between 1995 - 2005, and then again, between 2005 - 2015. A lot of smaller - yet crucial - developments have taken place since 2015. But we're probably at the beginning of another massive leap (I hesitate to say forward), as AI etc. transforms the internet again - what will the internet of 2034 be like?

Gates was kinda stuck here because at the time, people typically connected to the internet via 56k dialup. The infrastructure to support high speed broadband into every home nationwide or indeed worldwide was not yet built out, and wouldn't be really until the 2000s. This meant that things that we take for granted now (downloading and live streaming of movies, TV shows etc.) weren't practical. So he couldn't say "you can stream everything" because at the time you couldn't, yet. Also social media didn't exist... there was no _technical_ reason in 1995 why a site like Facebook or even UA-cam couldn't exist, but nobody had thought of them or their business model yet. We had to let people use the internet for a decade or so before they really started figuring out what it would be popularly used for, what areas of life it would transform. And when you're sitting in 1995 stabbing in the dark at it, it's easy for a host like Letterman to take the piss out of you and make you sound stupid.

Some of the terms he said... like virtual... I thought was very futuristic and telling. The one thing he left out about the internet is the e-commerce part that I think Mr. Amazon was working on at the time. But to think at that time he already amassed 10's and 10's and 10's of billions of dollars... but you wouldn't know that by his demeanor. Very cool video... I love it... UA-cam the great time machine.
