Pretty sure "they" for singular is only correct when the person is of unknown gender. In this case, we knew it was a man, which makes for a "he". Furthermore, calling vip102777 a dipshit for emphasising that it's understandable that the lone developer would use stock sounds, is rude at best.
Even if "they" were correct even if gender is known, that wouldn't change the fact that this use of the word is quite reserved to more "formal" language. OP obviously wasn't using their most proper English in this comment, which in turn, once again lets us know that OP was almost certainly unaware of this being a one-man show.
