It got twisted into a political weapon during the 20th century to further the capitalist cause against socialism and look at the devastation that caused. Why? Because the vast majority of people don't care about politics, they just want to live their lives in peace and be able to flourish. When labels like Left and Right are used in the way they been over the last century, the people are dumbed down into a division between two teams, team Left and team Right. And when nations have multi-million dollar sports entertainment entrenched in their national identity, that tribalist mentality spills over into how people view politics. Every documented public history there is about Vivek shows him furthering his own financial gain, and public image. Nothing he has done has been for the sake of others. You used to be able to argue that running a pharmaceuticals company was a pursuit in the interest of others, but when his own board fought him in his efforts to increase medication costs, he just left. He wanted to make his products more expensive, and refused to work with those who resisted. He abandoned the company.
Their problem is that they can't just switch candidates. The campaign donations are not transferrable, but would have to be returned to donors.
