People that never lived in Cali have no idea how amazing it was back in my day. (80s and 90s Bay Area) It really had a special energy and excitement no matter what we went thru. I hate being tribal, but Dems totally ruined it.
Why do you all keep voting them back in???????????.....

I’m a builder and I call BS on “31% more to rebuild than in 2019”. Folks it’s way over 50% more in labor and materials to build any house than it was pre-Covid…. Idk where they got those numbers but I have been building homes for 2 decades and know the numbers.
If you can even find the labor!!
You cannot believe ANY numbers from the government. Not one
Usually insurers have to negotiate rates with insurance commisioners. So while they would want a %50 rate increase, they will gladly take 30% to try to stem their losses
Yup same here in New Mexico. I remember buying 2X4's for $2 just 5 years ago, now than doubled since
Build in California?
I’m a Californian all my life and for the life of me I cannot understand why and how Gavin Newsom is still in office when we all cannot deny he’s destroyed California!

As a California home owner, our original insurance company was charging about $750 per year pre pandemic, then went up to $1,600 and then went up again to $6,500 to renew the policy. We have a home owners insurance crisis in California. This is real.
It’s happening in Houston too
The crisis was directly caused by the Calif government. It is their fault and no one else.

It's happening everywhere. They raised it exponentially in Iowa since 12 months ago.

I'm a Californian and I don't know anyone who likes Newsome. I have no idea how he was elected ...and survived the recall. His policies is destroying our amazing state.

The recall HAD to be rigged. There’s no way he wasn’t recalled.
Clearly the democrats cheat. They did on TV the night of the election. I'm in the central valley of California. The democrats harvesting votes is a legal way to cheat.
Election fraud. People in Venuezuela kept wondering who was voting for Chavez. It took them a while to figure out their elections were totally rigged. Gavin Newsom knows he doesn't need real votes to win elections which is why he doesn't care about pissing off voters. That's why he's still eying becoming president even though his track record is trash. Performace doesn't matter when elections are rigged. Pissing voters off doesn't matter if elections are rigged.
It's called vote fraud. It's real.
I lose my home insurance but Gavin Gruesome's career ruining California comes to an end. Definitely want to thank State Farm.
ya but his female POC replacement will be worse.

I lived in CA for almost 40 years. The increase in forest fires went hand in hand with environmental laws not allowing land owners to clear brush and dead trees from their property. I'm pretty sure that massive forest fires kill more animals than chopping down dead trees.
Someone starts the fires I bet you. I don’t remember seeing so much fire in the 70’s
We did have these fires, but back then grazing anamils,
" goats." were used extensively and ranchers were allowed to lease land for cattle grazing. They made fire breaks 600' feet wide on all the ridges. Now their only 20'.
Lived there 54 years evacuated 3 times in 11 years at my last home. Why I left 14 years ago. The state is disfuntional because of invironmental lawyers.@janiceserrano1259
I honestly can find no laws that do not allow home owners to clear their property. Part of the problem has to do with California's interaction with the Federal Government. The Feds manage about 58% of the land in California. I have seen requirements from the state to safely remove dead trees but not laws. I do not know what are the requirements of the Federal gov't. I lived on the Central Coast of California and the city I lived in had pretty strict laws concerning trees. I know the coastal oaks are protected.
Goes to show. No one in California truly cares about animals. Or fish.

I bought my house in CA in 1987 for $117,000. It’s now appraised at $1,187,000. 37 years and the cost of housing has jumped that much. It’s just an average 3 bedroom home, 1,178 square feet with a 2 car garage. Nothing extravagant. I don’t see how the younger generation can afford to live here.
And, how much have your property taxes gone up? Mine have gone up, that I am nearing the point of not being able to afford my home any longer.
They can't. Gen X can't afford it and some of them are grandparents
Plus high rates make it interest paying 3 million 4 million $$ plus taxes every year and that’s net so 7-8 mill gross $$
Why not move? My cousin moved from CA and their "average" house sold for enough money to allow them to buy 40 acres and a custom home built in TN with cash left over. I know it's not that easy but is easier when your home is worth 7-8 times more than the average home in the country.
Sell and buy a mansion in another state.

I lived in the forest 8 miles out of Chester, CA, back in the 70s & and 80s. I know for a fact forest maintenance was alive and well. I saw it every year. It was as common as snow removal in winter. Many of us would scater for the leftover wood they would pile up after taking the bulk of trees away...it was free, and we spoke to the logers about the next area to be cleared. Then, clearing old forest growth stopped. In 2018, I walked away from the sale of a house in Paradise, CA. 2 weeks before it burnt down. After looking at 3 homes, I told my wife,
" Let's get out of here,"
When asked why, I told her, " This place is a fire waiting to happen." The area was full of downed dead trees, dead bushes, leaves as deep as my knees, it was a mess. Some places you could even see the creeks that ran through it. This state has been managed right into the ground, and part of the blame sits on bad voting practices.
You nailed it !
That what I’m saying why tf we need dry bushes and trees up for like come on in cities or by houses and apartments waiting to be burn.
Controlled demolition
They changed their forest maintenance so it would look like global warming. They care nothing for the environment. No one who truly cares about the wilderness could support them.
You said, "even see the creeks that ran through it." What's wrong with being able to see the creek?
Father of two in the Navy here in San Diego. After my contract, my wife and I are leaving California. Dont worry, I won't vote blue.

I work in underwriting at State Farm headquarters here in Bloomington, IL. No one likes to work in CA. The laws and unmitigated risk make it a nightmare. People should understand the more laws your state has that impact insurance, the more difficult and expensive it is to do business there. Same goes for Michigan.
Thanks for the explanation
So go after the STATE, not the PEOPLE WHO PAY YOU. I know, ur not the CEO.
AKA, it’s harder to run an insurance racket.

David, In the mountain areas the goat herders were once allowed to drive their herds to a stockyard. The busybodies had a law passed to prevent this from happening in the mid to late 70s. This resulted in the vast overgrowth of scrub brush and consequent increased fire damage.
I suggested to Cal Fire 20 years ago to have goats on the mountain to eat the growth, they laughed at me at the town hall meeting. And here we are today, a mess.
Air quality boards. They rarely issue multi-day burns and when they do the air quality boards close the permits after day 1.
Natives still do prescribed burns and have none of the same issues because they know whats up.
I left Commiefornia around 10 years ago. I don’t even go to visit my extended family OR my sister. Hate that state.
Which state do you live now?
Remember when Arnold was the governor and diverted substantial funds into forest management? Everyone complained because it wasn't spent on social programs, but had a significant affect on "wild fire" reduction. He had some flaws, but he is the last decent governor that I can remember for Cal.
And the bonus was a great accent, lol.
Do you understand there is practically no management at all? Look at the budget. The state is burning because of it. Nature burns to control the forest. Forest fires are only bad because we like green and they tend to burn our houses but the fire is trying to fix our fckups.
When I was little, I was upset when Arnold promised changed, but ended up taking out huge loans to balance the debt. Passing the buck to future me. Turns out that was probably the right move. However, the outrageous spending just continued. The cycle needs to get broken.
And now Arnold does State Farm commercials....wild

We lived in San Diego area for several years, and heard from multiple lifelong California residents how shitty the state has become over the last 20 or so years. Corrupt policies, corrupt politicians and endless regulations and laws that target the middle class have made it almost impossible to live there unless you're making over a six figure income every year with multiple sources of revenue. Glad to be back home in Texas.

I miss the clean beaches, Sea World, Pier Point Landing, the Japanese Garden and feeding the animals, the Wax Museum. The air was actually fresh and sweet smelling. Knott's Berry Farm still had the farmer's market and only one big ride. I grew up in the 50's and lived there until 1990. So sad about now.
Yep, liberal woke policies created through voter fraud has ruined CA for at least the next 30 years. Glad I got the hell out!
I have lived in California my entire 65 years and California used to be a great place to live. I purchased my first house in Huntington Beach when I was 20 for $89k. It was 1500 sq ft. Today that same house with no upgrades other than paint is worth $1.1 million. I purchased several homes, all within Orange County from 1980-2000 for $147k to $325k. Today they are worth. $1.1 mil to 2.2 mil. My property taxes were about 1 to 1.2% of the purchase price. Today, I can’t afford to buy any of my prior houses again and the property taxes have almost doubled on new construction. When I purchase my current house in 2007, my homeowners insurance was $500/month. Today it’s more than doubled. Everything is far more expensive in California and our problems are far worse. Crime has skyrocketed, homelessness has skyrocketed, illegals here have skyrocketed and California has one of the highest gas prices in America because they have the highest gas tax. The major reason California has gone from a great place to live to a place people can’t afford and don’t want to live is because of liberal policies. The media and celebrities have become far more outspoken against conservatives and the things that are right and good. Outspoken about the police, jail and the justice system. Every decision made by politicians and liberals have been bad for California and especially the taxpayers of California. In my city, you see tons of houses and businesses decorated at Christmas, but you rarely see the American flag on homes or businesses, even on the 4th of July! We are no longer a state of patriotic Americans that put our country and the US citizens first. If there was a major military operation such as after 9/11, do you think there would be the same number of people volunteering to sign up for the military? After Pearl Harbor, every available boy from the ages of 16 wanted to fight for this country. They even found a way to join after they were classified as not fit. How many do you think would be willing to fight and die for this country today if we were attacked? It’s not just California, patriotism is a problem throughout the country, with a large blame going to the educators, media and parents. It saddens me that people don’t believe in the ideals which made this country great and, that states like California have become so anti-America. I only hope people wise up and realize the current path is not good for our future.
Patriotism is down because America was overtaken by the Military Industrial Complex. Our country was seized in ‘63 by a cabal that just wants to use us. Few wish to fight for something already dead.
Where was the Greatest Generation when we were overtaken from within? Did they forget to fight all enemies, foreign AND domestic? How these warriors all became obedient sheep is astonishing to me.
Don’t blame the people for a lack of conviction towards an illegitimate corporation acting as if it were the authentic America.
Well said I agree

I'm a P&C insurance agent and 90% of my business is California Home and Auto. All day long I get calls from panicked people who are getting dropped from their carrier and can't find coverage because insurers are either pausing business or leaving the state altogether. These are people who have not had any claims, who pay their bills, and have sometimes been with their carrier for 10-20 years or more. It's absolutely heartbreaking and it blows my mind that more people aren't talking about it. Other states are having issues too because of inflation and replacement cost like you mentioned, but California is on another level entirely here.
This has been a developing crisis since the Dems installed Ricardo Lara as the CA Insurance Commissioner back in 2019. He has done nothing but play politics since taking office and he's placed absurd restrictions on carriers to avoid "discriminating" against their policyholders, despite insurance literally being a business of calculating and assigning risk to people. They have also caused the CA FAIR Plan (a state underwritten insurance program meant for high fire risk homes) to become dangerously bloated in both risk and premium cost, because major insurers can't take any more wildfire risk in the state. There is a good chance the FAIR plan will collapse soon and a federal bailout will be in the works because of the situation California is in. I applaud you guys for talking about this, people in my industry are extremely nervous about it and fear the worst for California.
This informed post should be pinned at the top.
Californians need to sue the insurance companies as well. They've paid so much money for years. The insurance companies are just ponzy schemes! Completely corrupt. A scam from A-Z.
Not to mention, if the homeowner owns their home outright, then it's Unconstitutional
Fair Plan premiums are insane, plus you have to carry an additional policy. We pay about 5k between the 2 policies on a 60 year old brick house. Just a few years ago we paid $800. It also makes getting a mortgage for buyers even more of a challenge on top of the high interest rates. If they do away with prop 13 on top of all this, and the crazy proposed landlord restrictions pass, the housing market in CA would be in free fall. But sometimes I think that's the idea.
It's not talked about because the MSM covers up all demoncrat blunders.
Apparently they do not have a Trumpian scapegoat they can lie about.
I am also a licensed P&C agent in CA. Many of the insurance carriers have simply been reading the tea leaves when they decided to either restrict all new business or leave CA completely. You can't really blame the insurance companies. It would be like betting on a horse that just injured its ankle less than a week ago. The issues in CA are NOT acts of God, they are a direct result of horrible decisions by DEI leaders that ignore reality and lack any critical thinking. Then, when everything turns to sh*t, they act like a bunch of teenagers looking for others to blame when they are the ones that doomed CA. I'm still waiting for someone from Sacramento to admit their policies are a failure and talk about how they have at least a dozen locations picked out for new reservoirs. But we probably aren't going to get any solutions like that from the clowns running this state.

Lack of transmission line forestry maintenance has been the #1 reason for the fire issues in California. It's been that way for decades and they only have the ridicules environmental extremists to blame. California State government who is responsible for the well being of their citizens are totally at fault.
The Left wants the world to burn.
In the 70's I worked for a tree company that had the contract to clear trees from high voltage lines. I can't tell you how many times we were called off jobs because of environmental extremists preventing us from cutting the trees. PG&E has it's faults but they are not entirely responsible for fires.
It's not just transmission lines, it's also bark beetle infestations. For both these metrics, the environmental lobby successfully enjoins remedies; so now trees are dying, but the beetles get to spread because you cannot do what's necessary to stop them; and power lines spark fires, because you cannot trim around them. Stupid is as stupid does; there's nothing quite like a politician to forget the lessons they learned last year.
No, the environmentalists in the state of California government prevented logging and taking care of the forest is the reason for the wildfires really for being extreme.

@@victor.b.8412 There were a number of publications from about 2012-2019 talking about environmentalist stopping them from clearing brush and cutting back trees. Search it and you'll find a number of articles over the years. One of the more recent ones I specifically recall was about activists in Santa Cruz around 2018. These activists make it time consuming and costly for companies to get in and do what they need to do. They are required to keep overgrowth clear by the State (now at least as of 2021) yet there are many regulations that hinder their ability to access specific areas. That can all be found on CA .gov websites that talk about laws and regulation. Now I will also say that PG&E has honestly not tried very hard to push past these hurdles. They are most definitely more concerned with their bottom dollar and when being hindered by Activists or regulations, they don't spend enough time pushing back to get things done because... obviously money. So its basically F*#%ed no matter what way you look at it. @@victor.b.8412 I can verify thats accurate.
