My parents are Iranian. I was just listening to CocoRosie when suddenly I hear my native tongue rising out of the ambient sounds and now I'm FREAKING out. Beautiful tune, well done CocoRosie, well done. Ya got me where it counts.
i love cocorosie .and the fact that they used such a diverse culture and language makes me even love them more. i love u cocorosie for recognizing my culture.
This was the opening song of the Rome concert (18-7-10), obviuosly I was there. Lights went down, Sierra started singing this song, with a kind of symphonic arrangement, and with a "thicker" voice, and for the following five minutes I felt in heaven. This song is beautiful, and the live version maybe is even better. I sure hope Cocorosie sooner or later will release a "live" album. I would be so proud in saying "I was there!" :-)
@n0nameee actually in the beginning she says "If we laugh, it's because this laughter has come from crying" and then "I have no more tears" just before Sierra starts singing. The stuff around 2:43 is harder to decipher. It made me so happy that they use such diverse cultural elements in their music. Ecclectic CocoRosie as always.
i felt like a i don't know, maybe like a sheep or something, butterfly, sth so really really wiiiiiiiiiild and free when i was listening to that for the first time. really really unforgettable morning i guess, when you're listening to that all night but you fall asleep before this song and you repeat it in the morning and it completely destroy you, seriously, you dont know what your name is and so on,but your bed is really nice and o o o oo o o oo o this song is so beautiful
@raezen completely agree with u. that version was absolutely beautiful and i do like it a bit more but that's only because the live versions of their songs are on another level
i think i came a little when i found out they made a fourth album. I cant wait till they blow the top off and we can find them anywhere. As it is its like you have to special order the shit from Paris.
@erfo experimental, folk, progressive, weird pop elements, electronic bases, folk instruments ...its a mix that for some people is dificult to eat (im spanish and i dont know the translation) :) i like it but not all the songs
can anyone tell me what the sound at 3.03 is? probably electronic, yet could not be next youtube would like me to listen to Chopin,Nocturne, opus 27#2, piano solo. sounds like a good follow-up
beyond what we can conceive? not quite i will admit this song is pretty cool. but i'm conceiving it all haha now if you listen to dan deacon...well....you wont be able to conceive his music. you wont. he's a genius
Persian is both the "race" and the language, just like Arabic, English, German, and most other names are used for both ethnicity and language... And there is just no way to think that Persian culture is mostly Arabic culture! That is an ignorant thing to say.
I'm split on CocoRosie, I like some songs by them but others I just can't listen to. They're definitely an acquired taste. It's pretentious to assume anyone only listens to them to be "different" though, more pretentious than the people some of you assume are the fanbase for the band. Then again, our culture teaches people that their opinion is the only one that ever matters so haters gone hate.
uhm well i think someone somewhere said that this music was beyond what we can conceive. but i think dan deacon is much more inconceivable than this guy ahaha
this whole cd is melt, die, and go to heaven material. I cant STOP listening.....

Absolutely beautiful. This is the most lovely thing CocoRosie has done, and that is saying something.
transcending into a new realm of understanding, cocorosie is so beyond what our minds can conceive. CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS ALBUM

Farsi (persian)
Persian is the correct english term. Farsi is from the arabic form of Parsi, so no.
disagreed. this album version is just way too wondefully produced.
