A few years ago we decided to ditch our soul drenching, boring 'normal' life, leave our comfort zone and go adventuring and exploring! We started with selling our possessions and moving in a 30 year old motorhome! After two amazing trips around Europe, we returned to the UK where we continue to live on wheels. For now we both have seasonal campsite jobs and enjoy 4 months of free travel in winter! So campsite job works really well for us!
Sounds like a perfect way to live! Your story sounds incredibly similar to ours, though we haven't the motorhome nor done the European road trip just yet! It's a wonderful way of life, though Covid through a bit of a spanner into our plans recently!
Lovely to see your happy 😃 face, your book and illustrations look fab, keep up the good work. I’m not going for a warden jobs but I’m sure your experiences/views/perspective will help campsite uses have a more consideration and respect for the very varied, demanding job of a warden 👏👏
Thanks, Doris. Glad you like the artwork. 😀 I think the video is also quite useful for campers to see what goes on 'behind the scenes'! Hope you have a lovely year full of wonderful adventures!
Thank you so much 🥰 Caravan is still good. It's in storage at the moment, as we're taking a break after leaving the warden job. Back at it soon though xxx
Thanks! We're all over the place, the Shropshire County Show, The Royal Cheshire Show, Devon County Show, Royal Welsh Summer, Anglesey Show, Fillongley Show, Malvern Autumn Show, Birmingham NEC in October! A busy, busy year!
Hi, great vlogs 😊 my wife and I are thinking of applying to be site wardens. Did you have any experience beforehand? Or did you just jump straight in? Do camp sites want experienced wardens? Thank you
Sorry for the delayed reply! No former experience, but we were both fairly handy. Full training should be given and depending on the site you go to will determine how varied your job will be. Wholly recommend it!
@@TheMcNeillsonWheels thank you! We've read a bit about the roles through the 2 main clubs, but there also seems alot of jobs out there on independent sites
hi, as we are about to embark on our first warden role your videos have been very useful. do you have any advice on Caravan Insurance ... we are struggling to get cover due to being classed as "residential" ? thanking you in advance
Heya, very few insurers will cover permanent occupancy for some reason. If your caravan is low value, then you could consider being uninsured. Otherwise, you'll need to seek out a specialist insurer. The best place to ask is permanent caravan dwellers on Facebook. Good luck and thank you for your kind words 😁
Im 56 and i retired last year after a 37 yr career and an hgv driver , this would be the ideal job for me, i love camping and helping others , im an outdoor person and communicate well, ive worked as a dj , bouncer and freelance journalist in the past so im a people person too, where would i find an opening for a job like this Stacey?
Great idea! Easiest thing to do is just do a Google search for campsite warden jobs. You will find plenty! Good luck - now is the time to look for these types of jobs.
Thanks for the info Stacey! We're currently looking in to this sort of thing, rent out the house etc. We have a 3 year old. Do you know/have you heard of any jobs where you can split say a full time role between the 2 of us so one can be in the van looking after our son whilst the other is on shift? I've messaged a possible site about this but haven't had a reply yet. Many thanks, Matt.
The level of flexibility within the role will depend on who employs you! Some are more flexible than others, and this is something that you will need to discuss with them during your application/interview. It would be a wonderful adventure your little one! ☺
All done! The only thing that I might do this spring/early summer, is replace the mastic under ther rear awning rails. We had a slight weep in through the front windows when the winds were blowing hard, so I ended up sealing up the front windows permanently. The job looks awful at the moment, but I'll tidy that up when we bring it out to tidy it up and make some other repairs before hitting the road!
