I'm not sure if they did this for multiple part numbers, but my guess is they did.
One of the fuel filters is a Yanmar filter only that Deere resells. You could buy both filters directly. Thanks again for the heads up!

i had noticed the same thing on my uncles 3720 he got the new filter same part number but filter was smaller he thought he got the wrong filter but it wasnt i think ill just convert to a bigger wix the bigger the better. idk if they r trying to consolidate parts or wat like having one filter to fit multiple machines for stocking reasons

Go buy a new " quick change " oil filter for a john deere lawn tractor. $80.00 !!! I couldn't change it ovet to a regular filter fast enough!

Yes! They advertise it as " tooless oil change" guess what , unless you're Hulk Hogan, you still need a filter wrench to take the old one off, plus you also have to remove the side panel just to access the filter!
Well, that doesn't seem helpful. Just another money grab. I prefer "The Hulk" over "Hulk Hogan". Such is life with a 5 year old haha

I love the tractor itself. It's a great machine. Just not into trivial changes ha
the new American way, make everything cheaper
And sell for the same price....or more!!
Buy all my 4044m filters from the local auto parts store. Only thing I purchase from Deere is the Hy guard hst oil.
Filters are always the same size as factory spec.
Probably the way to go!
