The 2007 plate package with the Gen 4 cars were on another level. If this race could’ve ended under green, it would’ve probably been a crazy finish much like the two Daytona races were.
this race will forever be in my heart, after saying my last goodbye to my father who died a couple of days after Jeff tied Earnhardt in wins, the greatest miracle was given to me in time of need, that win snapped away my sadness and cheered me up, i can never forget this race ever
I sure do miss watchn Jeff race.. Maan, dude knew how to administer a race day ass whoopn. Jeff Gordon has got to be one of the best, I got a lot of great memories growing up watching him kick that ass.
I remember I was 13 or 14 years old during this race and as a Jeff Gordon fan I loved this race I miss the nascar I grew up with from late 90s til about 2014 I still watch but it just doesn't compare in my opinion
And because jimmie had chad knaus and jeff had steve retartd who couldn’t give jeff cars good enough down the chases track stretch. Jimmie never won a single race after chad was officially gone as his crew chief but jeff won with every crew chief he had🧐
@@thestarlightalchemist7333 jeff gordon and jr are equals!!!???are you insane?? And jr dealt a bad hand!!??😂😂🧐 yea 93 wins and 4 titles vs 26 wins and zero!!! Yea equal
I'd prefer the spectacle of good racing over 3 wide, personally. I love me some 3 and 4 wide action, and this is an example of it done well, but I think that the spectacle should be the big runs and the lane management aspect, which can cause some chaos. And to be honest, 3 wide still does happen today. Take the 2019 Fall Talladega race. Those last few laps with 3 wide action were intense, and they had been 3 wide all day prior to that as well.
I get a little choked up watching these old races and listening to the crowd when that red 8 went to the front. I wish I could've been in one of those crowds because that energy had to be nothing short of electric
Loving the technical advice: "1. Don't crash into the person in front 2. Avoid being in a large accident 3. Be in front when the race finishes." Edit: Almost forgot #4 "rubbin' son, is racin!"
1:24:28 - made me think that Jimmie got his revenge on the #25 car. Even tho Case and Darian did nothing to him! And then seeing 1:36:50 - both Mears and Kahne in the 30's in points is crazy. Hope everyone's all well and good
The tail end of the golden age of Nascar!! Great information and feed back from the Fox crew!! Damn, Jimmie Johnson was a bull in a china shop at this race!!
They didn't show 41st-43rd, but after looking at results: 41st: #7-Robby Gordon, 42: #99-Carl Edwards, and 43rd: #15-Paul Menard all out due to engine failures. The top 10 did change after review, with the results 1st-10th being: 24-48-2-38-26-29-8-40-12-1. Gilliland was elevated from 7th to 8th, McMurray relegated to from 4th to 5th, and Junior from 5th to 7th. First through third, 6th, and eighth through tenth did not change.
This is the first time I’ve watched this race since it aired live back then, and it’s an excellent race. The finish was anti-climactic, but overall fun to watch again. At the time this race happened, I was 13 years old and I wasn’t very happy with Gordon breaking Earnhardts win record at Talladega. This was during my peak hatred of Hendrick Motorsports. Fast forward to present day, and I actively root for Hendrick. My how times have changed.
Like how Newman dumped Montoya on purpose but damages his car in the process. Lol. He hit him with huge bump then Newman hit Montoyas left rear. These cars back then were so Aero sensitive if you dinged them they wouldn't go forward in the race. Jeff Gordon is and was good as any Restrictior plate racer.
the one thing i hate the most about talladega daytona is you cant enjoy the screaming sound of the cars going 200 mph bcus these guys just wont shut up for one minute even with the famous crank it up thats its too short.
All Casey’s fault , he never showed he was coming in and lied about all Hendrick cars pitting at that time , there is a reason he’s not at HMS anymore !
I have jeff raced version diecast from this win one of my all time favorite wins. He should have won the tile this year. And in 04 and 14 hed be 7 time just like earnhardt and petty. Stupid chase format ruined it for him.

this 2000s race sucks compared to the new era races now the races are best in the finish you can hear the sadnes of the commentators when the cars strat to crash
D.W. was biased against Jeff Gordon because he raced Jeff and Jeff beat him so much. Every driver from the 1990's hated Jeff because he was unbeatable at times. Look at Jeff winning 13 races in a 32 race season. 1/3 of the races he won.
He mentioned Dale JR a lot because he was the most popular driver. He was smart for doing it. Thats what most of the fans wanted to hear. Why wouldnt he talk about the most popular driver?

Not even close. Nascar has been ruined by gimmicks like the “playoffs”. Takes away the legitimacy of the sport.
Gordon was better than any driver out there! Including #8
Yepp
Jeff's stats still don't do him justice. Bad luck really hampered him in those later years along with the stupid playoff system.

It should be junior & senior Nation I'm talking about Dale Earnhardt senior and Dale Earnhardt Junior because they love to win at Talladega
God that Fox Theme is so iconic…
I think the 1992 Winston 500 was the first Talladega race with the Gen 4 car.
I think what hurt the ending was all those damn caution laps at the end. Like my gosh it wasnt a wreck it was just somebodies engine going out.
