  • In this video, I review Corsair's new Dark Core RGB Pro, released on April 7, 2020. This is a follow-up to the original Dark Core RGB SE, released in 2018. Turns out two years and the word "Pro" make a world of difference, because this thing absolutely rocks! It's not only the best mouse ever released under $100, it's my personal favorite mouse ever!
    Corsair has released two version of this mouse:
    (1) The RGB Pro for $80 that I tested: amzn.to/2Vhulg2
    (2) the "SE" version that adds Qi charging compatibility for an extra $10: amzn.to/2XgBDU7
    Using these links helps support this channel!

    To be fair, the ability to have several layers of lighting effects is pretty useful in my opinion. Been using it loads on the keyboard to stack different effects for different keys and lighting zones, as well as effect triggers. Fun tool to use when you get the hang of it.

    I apologise for coming off so aggressive and defensive of Corsair in my previous comment. Your video was good and that's all that counts. Again, my apologies. Hope your channel continues to grow

    Wow, I wish I had seen this review earlier, but I guess it's fine since I made the right choice anyway. I went from the Glaive RGB Pro (which was also my favorite mouse ever, except for the thumb buttons, exactly as you mentioned) to the Dark Core RGB Pro SE with the MM1000 mouse pad for the Qi charging. I have to say that this mouse is incredible and the performance feels like a wired mouse minus the damned cord getting stuck unless I give it enough slack around my monitor stand. I also couldn't believe the prices of some of these Logitech mice. I got both the Dark Core RGB Pro SE and the MM1000 for the price of just the Logitech mouse. Anyway, subbed a while ago and will definitely go back through some of your older videos to see what I've missed.

      Well, looks like no harm done because you made the right choice even without my help! Agreed on prices of Logitech's mice - they were way ahead of the pack for a long time and got a bit overconfident with their pricing.

      @@TheTechBuyersGuru It's always Razer this, and Logitech that for gaming mice. While they produce great mice, most reviewers somehow pick some nits with other brands to score them lower than Razer or Logitech. Most specifically, the current trend of light mice. Most consider the Corsair to be too heavy. I currently have 3 mice - G502 Lightspeed, Razer Basilisk Ultimate and the Corsair Dark Core RGB Pro. The Corsair is my favourite of the bunch. Another "heavy" mouse getting ingored in the discussion of best gaming mice is the Asus ROG Chakram.

    • @TheTechBuyersGuru
      @TheTechBuyersGuru  4 роки тому +1

      Wow, really helpful insights since you have all the top gaming mice. I agree about the weight issue. At first I was concerned, but actually weight isn't necessarily a penalty if a mouse is well balanced and fits your hand well.

    You can run multiple color schemes because you can actually blend them together! Some of the lighting effects are pulsing or visor; with that, you can make it go fully rainbow while *also* pulsing every now and then. Each of the zones (there's 8 of them + dpi indicator color) are individually addressable you can have each of the zones have one or multiple effects on them.

    Beyond wireless how does it compare (shape size button location etc) to a Nightsword. Seems like there would be a lot of crossover.

    iCue is amazing. It's by far the least buggy and easiest RGB/Performance software I've ever used. Way better than MSI, Gigabyte and ASUS's software.
    The reason you can run multiple color schemes at once is because you can put different color schemes on different lighting zones, creating a level of customization that you don't typically find in other RGB software. It's actually not complicated at all.

      Logitech's GHub software is pretty buggy, that's true. Overall, the Corsair iCUE software is more stable, so yes, you'll probably be better off with the Dark Core Pro: click.linksynergy.com/deeplink?id=WAzU8cLhuCU&mid=44583&murl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.newegg.com%2Fcorsair-ch-9315411-na-dark-core-rgb-pro-usb-2-0-type-a-slipstream-bluetooth-wireless-wired%2Fp%2FN82E16826816161

    I have the original version of the mouse and I was wondering if this one has full integration with iCUE's Lighting Link preset options. The original Dark Core didn't work with the Lighting Link option which always bothered me. I also recall that the lighting integration didn't work over bluetooth. Any idea if lighting support now works over bluetooth?
    I also own the Virtuoso headset and was wondering if it's possible to use a single slipstream dongle for both devices. Have you tried using multiple devices over one dongle? According to Corsair's marketing material, it is possible but it would be nice to have confirmation on this and see if any issues appear when using multiple devices on a single dongle.
    I was also wondering what you thought about the omission of the sniper button that was present in the original Dark Core mouse. Is it more comfortable or easier to grip now? The back button is a bit difficult to reach with the thumb on the original, so it looks like they solved that by omitting the sniper button.
    Thanks for this review. :-)

      Thanks for checking in. So here are you answers:
      (1) Lighting Link: yes, it syncs up with other Corsair gear, just tried it.
      (2) Sharing one Slipstream dongle: I see no way to do this, but I've just e-mailed my Corsair rep to confirm.
      (3) Ergonomics: much improved. Although the original was just as comfortable in terms of shape, the buttons were a little too "creative". Corsair has gone to a more traditional layout, but its a time tested one, and the position, shape, and size of the forward/back buttons is perfect. Best of any mouse I've ever used.
      By the way, this mouse is selling like crazy right now - at this very moment, there's one of the SE models available on Amazon: amzn.to/2JPks3R. Will probably sell out before you see this!

      Got the official word from Corsair on using a single Slipstream receiver. They are working on it, and you can test it out in beta. Here's the link: forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1024527. Corsair's rep was pretty up front with me and said that using 3 devices on one receiver causes dropouts, but since there isn't yet a Corsair keyboard with Slipstream worth buying, you wouldn't have 3 devices anyway, LOL!

    iCUE is great I don't understand why people have such problems with it and why half the reviewer's videos (not just you) are devoted to how Corsair should "fix it" for some reason. If you have everything Corsair (as I do - bit of a fan), then iCue is a great tool for loads of stuff, least of which is silly RGB lighting, which but the way is a breeze to ser up even your grandma could do it. Download shitloads of free themes from nice community members and away ya go. Nitpicky stuff like "the back lights are kinda annoying and so you should turn them off". Buddy who cares about that? How does the mouse perform? How does it feel? How easy is it to get running in multiple games? Maybe thats what the majority of your review should be focused on, not how icue sucks in your opinion. By the way, Synapse is complete garbage and requires an always connected signed account to function, Logitech's software is mildy better than Razer Synapse which isn't saying much but my lord ICUE is streets ahead of them all. I shouldn't go to bat for them like I work for Corsair because I look and sound like a fanboy but my PC is deckout in Corsair shit for a reason - it's just the best. I have a Logitech headset but otherwuse, my RAM, mouse, keyboard, CPU cooler and if they made motherboards that would be Corsair too. I left a like on your vid and this comment will show the algorith engagement so there's that. Stay cool pal

    • @TheTechBuyersGuru
      @TheTechBuyersGuru  4 роки тому +2

      The Viper Ultimate (amzn.to/2Rspxng) is $150! And given some strange design decisions Razer made with that mouse, particularly the ambidextrous non-ergonomic design and almost complete lack of RGB, it's not going to appeal to everyone.
