Hey your lighting and background doesn't matter. I appreciate you taking the time and telling how your experience was it is a great help. Currently I'm in a class for A+ and our teacher said we could flag the performance based questions and come back to them.. Like you said don't take a long time on answering those questions in the beginning. I wish you great success with all your certifications.
Thanks Mike! The A+ is packed with a lot of fundamental knowledge that will help with future certifications. At least that’s been my experience so far. Good luck on your studies and please let me know if you have any questions 👍🏼
Thanks for showing your true emotions behind all of this, I haven't taken my test yet but your emotions sound the way I thought I would get through it. It's really humbling, I'll remember your story when I'm stressed out about it :) glass half full!

Nice video! Thanks for sharing your experience..I’m thinking of taking the project plus exam, will def invest in the retake! PS thanks for the Udemy tip
Mahal Rosas Thank you! If your going for the Project Plus I would definitely suggest getting into a hands on course and really soaking in the material. Project management is going to take more than just a cert!
ZeroDayJames agreed! I’m hoping the project plus cert will help me get in the door with an entry level project mgmt position.. then I can spend a a couple years getting my hours and reup for the PMP cert
Thanks for this video! I bought the CompTIA A+ exam prep package for both A+ exam vouchers (+ a free retake each) and CertMaster Practice. I bought this during a 20% off sale during CompTIA’s Earth Day promo so I saved some money. Spent about $700 but I feel it is worth it. I did my first practice test on CertMaster Practice for the 1001 exam and scored a 73% which I consider just barely passing. I am liking the whole CertMaster program though because it shows me what I need to study more of. I am trying to remember the different network ports, the wireless standards & frequencies, and some details about virtualization right now. Basically trying to remember specific numbers is what I am doing right now. I loved hearing your insight!
I'm about to start some classes & (hopefully) be taking my A+ exams here in a few months. Thank you for this video, from you experience. This actually helped & really god idea on "using" that 1st exam as a "throw away" if you've got a Re-Take possible Nice :)
Hey James! Don't know if you mentioned this in the video but I was just wondering how long you studied for the first part and then the second part? And the time in-between each exam?
Sorry to get back to you so late. I spent about 6 weeks per exam. Maybe a bit less but it all depends how much time you can dedicate in the day. I was working full time with a kid and many other responsibilities at the time so it was tough, but absolutely doable.
Hey James, I realize this video is 2 years old, but just wanted to say thanks for sharing your story and congrats on passing A+. How has your career life in IT being so far? Did the A+ help in getting hired and have you gotten other certifications? I’m making a career change after over 10 years in my current field and I’m honestly a little worried since I may need to take a pay cut before getting experience and making a good income in IT. I’m currently preparing for the A+ cert. Anyways, if you could let me know how it has been, it’d be great. Awesome video btw!
Hey thanks so much for watching and congrats on the big move to switch careers! I absolutely understand your concern. I had to take a pay cut as well and I’m currently working for an MSP so it’s tough. I also got my Net+ Sec+ and AWS Solutions Architect but honestly I will tell you know. Get your foot in the door asap. Sure you can collect certs and they might help a little bit but if there’s one thing I’ve found it’s that experience trumps all. This pieces of paper mean nothing if you don’t have practical application. Having a cert does not and I repeat DOES NOT necessarily equal higher pay
Today I'm sending an email to schedule my exam and I'm terrified 😃🙈 I always feel like you, that I need to accept the defeat, what really stresses me out but I hope this time I've done so many tests it won't be extremely difficult 🙏🏼 next, network+ 🤩

@ZeroDayJames Congrats man on passing your exam. I know I’m late. I’m currently working on the A+ 1001/1002. What was your study method? I’m finding it hard to go straight thru the book because it mixed 1002 material in the beginning. So how was your method at using the books?
Thank you! It took me about 6 weeks per exam. Total of 3 months to complete both the 1001 and the 1002. Mind you, I work full time, have a daughter and many other commitments so I was stuffing absolutely every spare moment into studying.
Thinking about buying certmaster for linux +. Thanks for sharing you experiences. I hated those last questions they ask you when you just want to know if you pass or fail.

Mind you, 4 weeks really only allowed about 4-10 hours tops a week.

HI! Thank you very much for sharing the experience you had studying for Comptia A+. I am not taking classes, nor do I have any experience building computers and I am afraid that might be a obstacle when it comes to comptia 220-1001 exam . In this case, I am thinking getting the certmaster labs for Comptia A+. What do you suggest? Thanks.
Thanks for the reply. I am still in the process of trying to gather every bit of information I need to start studying properly for Comptia A+ . So far I have started watching CompTIA 220-1001 A+ Training Videos on Professor Messer website and I have got his massive book as well.
hel der Nice!! I used Professor Messer a little bit before my exam. I just listened to his videos while I was driving and it definitely helped as a supplement to my core study material. I don’t have experience with his book, only the CertMaster learn. I have heard great things about it though and don’t think you can go wrong whichever route you decide to take. You got this 👍🏼
Congrats on passing your Comptia A+, ZeroDayJames . When you took the test did the computer show you how much time you have left. Also, when you're doing that survey does that count on the 90 min time limit? Please let me know. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing your experience! Am I right understand that I can skip simulations and do all of them in the end? How many simulation questions did you have? If you still remember it )))
Yes you can skip them and wait until the end. That would be your best bet. I didn’t do that method for my A+ and wasted some time on them. I tried it for my Net+ and Sec+ and it was definitely the way to go. I don’t remember how many I had for sure. I think it was around 4-7?
Hey James, thanks for the video. I am currently studying for the A+ and am using the certmaster. Do you think i can pass the exam only using the certmaster? Thank you
hey james just want to ask if there is any eligibility of sitting in comp tia + exams because I don't have any experience or degree considering IT but want to prepare for this cert can you please guide me through where to start from a little help will be apricated.
I have no experience in IT outside of phone sales and basic troubleshooting. Is this the right program? Is there any funding I can get to help pay for the program? I really want to make a career out of IT and this seems like a great first step. Any information would be great. Oh, and Congratulations on passing! I can imagine that felt amazing!
Thanks man! The A+ is a great way to get started if you’re looking to get into IT. As far as getting funding to pay for the program I’m not sure? You can ask your job if they offer any educational support towards advancing your career.
I would focus on the main ones listed in the course. It’s almost impossible to memorize every single one of the objectives.. also I know this comment was a year ago. How did you do?
Hello mate, Tganks very much for the video. Can you tell wich things should we study more? I heard on a video that we nee to know the speed of cables like interput cables, sara cables etc. And that is a lot. Let me know please. Great work 😁
best way to do it is only test on subjects expressed on the comp ta exam syillabis which you can find on the www.examcompass.com/comptia/a-plus-certification/free-a-plus-practi to download or just to look at thats me good deed done for the day
im thinking the same thing and questioning everything but realizing i need better material to test for are there any video training that go over everything?
Hey where are you these days after passing the A+? Have you secured a job in IT? Did you get your foot in the door with a Help desk position to start? I’m in a similar trajectory and I’m studying for the A+. Love your content. Just subscribed
CT thanks for the support! Since my A+ I got my Net+ and Sec+. That was all last year. I’ve been applying to other roles since then and building my network. Started an internship not too long ago as well.
I failed my core 2 exam today for the second time with 680 % . I took my one 10 days ago and failed with 660 . Do u have any advice please? I use ITProTV for study
Ahh I’m sorry to hear that! Don’t let it get you down though there’s still hope. I’ve never used ITProTV before so I can’t give any suggestion on that. I would recommend doing lots and lots of practice exams. Look at the sections and topics you missed then go over those lessons on your course material. Also use the printout they give you after your exam because it tells you what topics you missed.
Cladosporium For the Net+ and Sec+ he provides a link with the downloadable PDF. Not sure if the same goes for his A+ course. He usually talks about it in the first couple videos.
Hello I passed my 220-1001 in August, but I failed my 220-1002 today. To pass the 220-1002, I am deciding whether I should purchase CertMaster Learn or CertMaster Practice. Which is better? What are the differences between the two? What are the pros and cons of each? Do each of them prepare you for the test? If you can answer my questions it would really help me out. Thank you for your time.
The CertMaster learn is an actually course that goes through all of the objectives on the exam and I believe it has a practice test at the end. The CertMaster practice is just a collection of practice exams. Depending on what your score was and what topics you struggled with, you might just need to work on actual test taking and go with the practice exams. What material did you use to study?
Your Bro I think you should be fine using 3rd party practice exams just make sure they’re credible resources. Always go over the objectives as well to make sure you’re ready on all sections!
One doubt. I have only taken certmaster linux+ without an exam voucher. After completing all the modules of course, will I get certification of completion?
Echofrombelow Personally, I found Core2 more challenging. The reason being, I had more experience with hardware and building computers and laptops already. However I had zero experience when it came to permissions/policies and that sort of thing.
@@ZeroDayJames Hi I just finished getting the A +. I had the same experiences taking these exams as you, a fatalistic sense of failure, since the questions are poorly worded, and subjective since they provide multiple correct answers, and you have to choose the "best" one. I know you completed the trifecta by earning the network + and security + as well. What was your impression of those exams? Did they at least get more objective, ha ha, or did you feel like you were going to fail like you did on A+? Thanks for these videos they helped me prepare for the psychological aspects of the exam.
I have one main issue: I have opted for certmaster learn for linux+,Even after completing modules,my knowledge points are not increasing and showing 0% progress. And also, each time I login, all the knowledge points that are gained are lost with 0% progress shown For getting certificate of completion in certmaster learn,KNOWLEDGE POINTS are very important Please help me with this. Thank you!
Sai Rohith Karanam The knowledge points and progress percentage are just for your own personal tracking. The course prepares you to take the actual exam and when you pass you get your certificate.
odalv316 I took the bundle because I was looking to get the exam and retake at a discounted price. I ended up not even needing either of the retakes. But to answer your question, yes. The CertMaster alone is more than sufficient to pass the exam. That’s all I used!
KONGO IBAKA I would recommend studying for the 1001 first, passing the exam, then working on your 1002. You cannot take the 1002 until you have passed your 1001.
Jasmine Pearls I used Jason Dion’s Network+ course along with his practice exams and simulations. Check out my video on it! ua-cam.com/video/qjXDN90N-uI/v-deo.html
John Sangweni If you pass the 1001 and fail the 1002 you will not get your A+ certificate until you retake the 1002 and pass. You cannot take the 1002 unless you have successfully completed the 1001.
@@ZeroDayJames so, i gather the order changes? I took it a second time and i went from a 50 to a 60 after doing the smart fresh. I have my exam om Friday, who knows if I pass.
scott hochhauser Are you using them CertMaster Practice or CertMaster learn? You’ll do fine just keep reviewing the lessons in which you got answers wrong on the practice exams keep trying.
@@ZeroDayJames i forgot to ask you about.preparing for the 1001 of the aplus. Did it feel like you were memorizing practice tests as you kept taking them over?
Nick Diaz I studied for about 6 weeks per exam. Mind you, some days I couldn’t get any study time in at all and others I could only get a few minutes. So if you have the time I think you could pull it off in even less than that. Just make sure you have a real understanding of what your studying!
It helped me understand A LOT of the fundamentals and prepared me for my Net+. I’m working on my Sec+ now and should be applying for IT related jobs mid next year. I’ll definitely let you know how it goes.
scott hochhauser hahah yes but they definitely help prepare for the real thing ! I’m about to start studying for my Linux+ and I’m debating on going with the CertMaster again or saving some money and taking a shot at Cybrary 🤔

Thank you.
Thanks man! Yes it shows you how much time you have left. No, the survey is after you already submit the exam and end your time.
Thank you
Absolutely. CertMaster was the only material I used to study for both exams and it was sufficient to pass.
@@ZeroDayJames Thanks for the reply!!
agreed, no one cares about lighting, RGB, or whatever fancy things. You have knowledge that I'm trying to gain
Congrats! Great tips!
MASTER I.T. Thanks!
He said he got 2 chainlocks and one just hangs there. Subbed! Haha
x3tko it’s true.. 😂 thanks for the sub!
hey james just want to ask if there is any eligibility of sitting in comp tia + exams because I don't have any experience or degree considering IT but want to prepare for this cert can you please guide me through where to start from a little help will be apricated.
Thank for the video 😃big up my brother
Delano Williams 🙏
Hey, if you don’t pay 120x more than you have to then are you really that dedicated to it?
Exactly 😂
I have no experience in IT outside of phone sales and basic troubleshooting. Is this the right program? Is there any funding I can get to help pay for the program? I really want to make a career out of IT and this seems like a great first step. Any information would be great. Oh, and Congratulations on passing! I can imagine that felt amazing!
Thanks man! The A+ is a great way to get started if you’re looking to get into IT. As far as getting funding to pay for the program I’m not sure? You can ask your job if they offer any educational support towards advancing your career.
Thanks for the info, and congrats!
Thank you!
Do you have to buy the book too, or does that come with certmaster learn
How much studying of your Acronyms did you feel you needed? I've gone over the course's core objectives and they list 3 pages of them.
I would focus on the main ones listed in the course. It’s almost impossible to memorize every single one of the objectives.. also I know this comment was a year ago. How did you do?
Did you read any books to prepare for this exam, ZeroDayJames?
I used what was provided in the CertMaster course package. Nothing more, nothing less.
Hello mate,
Tganks very much for the video.
Can you tell wich things should we study more?
I heard on a video that we nee to know the speed of cables like interput cables, sara cables etc.
And that is a lot.
Let me know please.
Great work 😁
Thanks for watching! You definitely need to know the cable speeds for Cat5, Cat5E, Cat6, Cat6E and Cat7 if I remember correctly.
Thank you very much for letting me know that.
Amazing help.
best way to do it is only test on subjects expressed on the comp ta exam syillabis
which you can find on the
www.examcompass.com/comptia/a-plus-certification/free-a-plus-practi
to download or just to look at
thats me good deed done for the day
Currently studying for A+ ..thanks for video
Good luck! Let me know if you have any questions 🤘🏼
🎉
im thinking the same thing and questioning everything but realizing i need better material to test for are there any video training that go over everything?
Hey Dominique how’s the studying been going? I would definitely recommend Jason Dion’s practice exams on Udemy.
@@ZeroDayJames decided to go into another field
Don't hold out on us which 10 dollar udemy course helped with your network+?
Robert Justis haha check out my network+ video! Links and all in the description 👍🏼 ua-cam.com/video/qjXDN90N-uI/v-deo.html
About to go take my 1001🙈 wish me luck
Good luck and be sure to let me know how it goes ! ☺️
I PASSED OH MY 🥰🥰🥰🥰
ZeroDayJames my brain was like “ you’re totally going to fail”, we had the same feeling 😅
Harper Leo Congratulations!! 🍾
Harper Leo Yes that is exactly what my brain was telling me as well.. oof 😅
awesome vid bro I struggle with my thoughts too LOL
can you use your retake even if you passed the exam?
I don’t believe so? Why would you need to retake it if you passed?
I failed my core 2 exam today for the second time with 680 % . I took my one 10 days ago and failed with 660 . Do u have any advice please? I use ITProTV for study
Ahh I’m sorry to hear that! Don’t let it get you down though there’s still hope. I’ve never used ITProTV before so I can’t give any suggestion on that. I would recommend doing lots and lots of practice exams. Look at the sections and topics you missed then go over those lessons on your course material. Also use the printout they give you after your exam because it tells you what topics you missed.
I got Jason dion a+ course but where did you find that packet or study guide
@@ZeroDayJames Professor Messer videos and practice tests. I made a 691 on the 1001 Core 1 exam and a 680 on the 1002 Core 2 exam.
Im studiying for A+ and im practising free exams from some other website ! Will this actually work ? Or i have to go for Comptia's practise exams ?
Your Bro I think you should be fine using 3rd party practice exams just make sure they’re credible resources. Always go over the objectives as well to make sure you’re ready on all sections!
@@ZeroDayJames Ok Thank You James ❤️
Your Bro Not a problem man as always let me know if you need anything!
CertBlaster test ENGINE and QUESTIONS/ WITH COMPTIA PRACTICE QUESTION 👍
One doubt.
I have only taken certmaster linux+ without an exam voucher.
After completing all the modules of course, will I get certification of completion?
Sai Rohith Karanam No. The course only prepares you to take the Linux+ exam. You have to pass the exam to get the certification.
can i have your CompTIA's CertMaster Learn study bundle subscription for month time use ...
All in all which exam did you find more challenging core 1 or core 2? I have been reading that core 2 is actually easier.
How long did you study before taking the 1001?
About 6 weeks
I have one main issue:
I have opted for certmaster learn for linux+,Even after completing modules,my knowledge points are not increasing and showing 0% progress.
And also, each time I login, all the knowledge points that are gained are lost with 0% progress shown
For getting certificate of completion in certmaster learn,KNOWLEDGE POINTS are very important
Please help me with this.
Thank you!
Sai Rohith Karanam The knowledge points and progress percentage are just for your own personal tracking. The course prepares you to take the actual exam and when you pass you get your certificate.
So can you learn everything you need from the CertMaster or you need to take the eBook and voucher bundle?
odalv316 I took the bundle because I was looking to get the exam and retake at a discounted price. I ended up not even needing either of the retakes. But to answer your question, yes. The CertMaster alone is more than sufficient to pass the exam. That’s all I used!
@@ZeroDayJames thank you 🙏
When you buy the voucher, is it good for the 1001 and 1002, or just one or the other?
@@Automotib You have to buy a voucher for each part. (1001 and 1002) Vouchers are cheaper on eBay than they are on CompTIAs website.
@@bvdaerial1753 gotcha, what about retakes? Say you pass the 1001 the first time, can you use the retake then for the 1002?
That shirts dope.
Thanks man! Floral 👌🏼
Please link the $10 Udemy course
I have another video on it
Hey James . Can you send me the simulations that you had. Also the one where you had to connect a ladies tablet to her office Wi-Fi
Afakh Patel Not sure what you mean by connecting a ladies tablet to her office WiFi but the simulations I used were from the Comptia CertMaster learn.
Was it the same
Can I study A+ 1001 and 1002 at the same or one after an other?
KONGO IBAKA I would recommend studying for the 1001 first, passing the exam, then working on your 1002. You cannot take the 1002 until you have passed your 1001.
What udemy course for network + did you use?
Jasmine Pearls I used Jason Dion’s Network+ course along with his practice exams and simulations. Check out my video on it!
ua-cam.com/video/qjXDN90N-uI/v-deo.html
How much did you pay for your network+ and where did you say you got that from?
nevermind read the comments
Good Shit Bro! ! !
Thanks!!
My Question to you Sir is, What happens if you pass the 1001 and fail 1002 or the other way around.
John Sangweni If you pass the 1001 and fail the 1002 you will not get your A+ certificate until you retake the 1002 and pass. You cannot take the 1002 unless you have successfully completed the 1001.
When you take the certmaster practice and take the practice test ( 1001)the second time are the questions different?
I’ve only taken the practice exam included in CertMaster Learn. It does not change the questions after taking it the first time.
@@ZeroDayJames certmaster.practice
I worked on all the modules they told me to take after the first test and even to smart refresh.
@@ZeroDayJames i forgot to ask you about.preparing for the 1001 of the aplus. Did it feel like you were memorizing practice tests as you kept taking them over?
Did u take both exams the same day ?
BOKUNDU LISONGO No I studied for the 1001, took the exam then studied for the 1002 and took the exam. They were about 6 weeks apart
I failed network plus twice with same points 568.
Mr Kevin How are you doing in practice exams before you go for the actual one?
How long did you study for?
Nick Diaz I studied for about 6 weeks per exam. Mind you, some days I couldn’t get any study time in at all and others I could only get a few minutes. So if you have the time I think you could pull it off in even less than that. Just make sure you have a real understanding of what your studying!
@@ZeroDayJames Thank you! @RackLiftlife from IG. I'm gonna go for it and make the switch out of the medical field! Great videos!!!!
Nick Diaz Good luck and keep us posted on your progress !
The performance based questions frustrate me. It always feels like they don't give you enough information.
PetitePhillyLife Which practice exams are you using? Or are you talking about the actual exam?
@@ZeroDayJames the actual exam.
Did the A+ get you into IT or do anything for you?
It helped me understand A LOT of the fundamentals and prepared me for my Net+. I’m working on my Sec+ now and should be applying for IT related jobs mid next year. I’ll definitely let you know how it goes.
I'm currently studying for my A+
I would highly appreciat if you can give me your A+ notes and exam questions you went through. God will bless you

@@ZeroDayJames hello. I checked and Comptia A+ CertMaster is only for renewal, no?
sorry to hear about your legs..
Truth Balm Can’t honestly say I know where you’re going with this one 🤨
The certmaster practice has questions that are so crazy.
scott hochhauser hahah yes but they definitely help prepare for the real thing ! I’m about to start studying for my Linux+ and I’m debating on going with the CertMaster again or saving some money and taking a shot at Cybrary 🤔
