The only way to understand just how beloved Dawkins is in Philly is to realize that when he returned to the linc for the first time since leaving the eagles, fans wore his broncos jerseys to the game. As a lifelong eagles fan, that does not usually happen.
Woooow!!!! That speaks volumes, but I'm not surprised especially after watching his highlights seeing his Hall of Fame speech and learning about him I'm a long time Cowboy fan I'm thinking about getting one of his Eagles jerseys OUT OF TOTAL AND COMPLETE RESPECT = for him being a TRUE of God as I strive to be, his intensity passion and style of play, my birthday is the 20th of April, and I'm also a big fan of Wolverine.
They didn’t boo him either
Holy crap in Philly!?! Thats pure respect at the highest level
He’s a beast so I understand that sentiment
Doesn’t “usually” happen??? That has NEVER happened! Not with Randall, not McNabb, not even with the greatest player in Eagles history- Reggie White- who wanted DESPERATELY to stay but ownership didn’t wanna pay the man.
One of my all-time favorite Eagles players. I was at the Eagles game against the Broncos when he returned to the Linc. Eagles fans went crazy. I have a Broncos Dawkins jersey and it's my most worn jersey.
Why did he leave the eagles ?
@@chriswhite8657 didnt wanna pay him
@@chriswhite8657 because he wasn't meant for the Eagles 💯💯💯
@@TNTguygaming We in Philly have never forgiven the organization for that, they have tried to make it up to him by offering him positions and whatnot but he has never accepted and we respect him even more for it, he’s tied for my favorite player of all time with Ray Lewis.
@@westillrock5ringz576 i mean im a cowboys fan too but i live in philly, bdawk forsure belonged in philly, he was the embodiment of the players they like the most
Damn this got me fired up I’m about to walk up in the office with a bear crawl
🤣 they gone call animal control
It is astonishing to me that someone with his level of intensity does not curse. One of my favorite Philly athletes ever 💚
That is knowing were your strength comes from. Many will never understand it. Most don't believe it, but God is the reason he was able to play the game the way he did. Don't take it from me watch his interviews and you will see a God Fearing Man who God granted talent that can't be taught.
that's how you know his fire is real, and it's coming from his heart
Had the opportunity to work with Brian and his family on a project a few weeks back. Really down to earth guy!
What'd you guys work on?
??? Answer the question ^^^ @walshdog61
Just imagine if Brian Dawkins & Ray Lewis played together 😳 🔥💣💥
Double the smelling salts on the sidelines
With Warren Sapp on the d-line
ed reed was a beast so
They did. Ed Reed
Not even an Eagles fan but I LOVE Brian Dawkins. Always cheered for him. One of my favourite players and you always appreciated him
Weapon X was one of my favorite safeties to watch definitely top 5 all time
And one of the best of all time. Wish he was still playing!
Wish players could still hit like that, too.
Trash
He’d be broke from all the penalties 😭
Top 3
@@brenstenlindsey his hits were clean tho technique was crazy another reason I loved him so much
The man was just a different breed 💪🏼. So electrifying on the football field from the pre-game entrances to the pre-game talks with teammates to the intensity to the hard hits. He’s the reason why I played safety and I am just so grateful to grow up and watch one of my favorite safeties game in and game out give it his all.
There will never be another safety like Dawkins every time I think of this man the 2004 NFC Championship Game can’t forget that
Alge Crumpler hit! haha blasted
Ed Reed, Polamalu
The way the league is now, he’d pull a nick saban and go to court for the dumb tackling rules😂
A player from a by gone era when the safety position could actually impact the result of the game. Dawkins, Thomas, Reed, Polamalu... we will probably never see their like again.
Rodney Harrison too
Thomas?
Can’t forget the late great Sean Taylor!
@@dimariobell8499 Earl Thomas. Legion of Boom
Imo there is no one on a defense that can impact a game as much as an hard hitting safety like Dawkins! If you want to see just how impactful a hard hitting safety can be in a game go back and watch the Seattle Seahawks vs Denver Broncos game where Kam Chancellor sent a message when Manning threw his first pass to Demaryius Thomas! Kam lit DTs world up! After that play I knew the game was over! Every WR especially DTs head was on a swivel and WRs was dropping passes left and right after that one hit! Chancellor had 10 tackles, a fumble recovery, 2 pass deflections and a interception that game and should've been without a doubt the SB MVP of that game! Brian Dawkins is my absolute favorite Safety of all time tho as his passion to me was unmatched!
Almost became one of those all time defenders that damn near willed his team to a ring off the strength of his leadership
Heart of philly and id say easily top 5 safety all time
I remember when I use to make op teams on madden I would always go for Dawkins first. The man was insane
It doesn't get any better than the intro to Madden 08.
@@PaulGaither iconic.
Tears watching this. Lifelong Eagles fan so ashamed we trade him away
I think we let him walk
To hell with coffee...I'll just watch this every morning and I'm set.
The man made me an Eagles fan. I’ll love him forever 🫡
💯💯💯 same
Basically the twin flame of ray Lewis playing safety
The most underrated safety of all time
If you can lay Brandon Jacobs down, hands down one of the best! 💯
Or the bus
Best Safety of his generation and the stats prove it.
I love Dawkins but I’d still say Ed Reed was better
Really tough to say who was the best when you have Troy Polamalu, Ed Reed, and Brian Dawkins all playing during that era.
@@agenta1263 better overall was B dawk. While others had coverage stats he had best overall stats
@@Tharb05 actually Ed Reed has the overall stats...
@@kingcaesar4817 he has the most interceptions. Overall goes to Dawkins neither Ed reed nor Polumalu come to close to his sacks, forced fumbles and tackles. They both may have more interceptions but that’s it. So yeah overall Dawkins.
Huge Raiders fan and I loved this dude. Miss this era of football. Nothing like having a safety taking dudes heads off in the secondary
Die hard giants fan.. hated facing this guy twice a year. Big respect
So now you know what we Eagles fans thought of LT
@@scazermazz Reggie White is an even better comparison.
@@Soundofsilver2007 Reggie was great as an Eagle. Wasn't as good as a Packer. LT was way more disruptive. Jaworski still has nightmares of LT coming up blindside
If you could still play defense like this today. There would be no QBs playing into older age and passing records being broken all the time.
As a Washington fan, I loved B Dawk.
He played like no one else. It was like Ronnie Lot 2.0 for me.
I miss seeing that level of play in football
Ronnie Lott
Ed Reed/Brian Dawkins
Troy Polumalu
2:12 watching soar from behind to tackle him literally like an eagle is insane
My all time favorite player. A monster on the field and a class act off.
The last play was a forward lateral. Take it back 🏈
watching this in july 2024 just because I miss watching this dude every sunday as a kid in philadelphia
He is my all time favorite player EVER
I Love This Man
Legendary ✊🏼
Fly Eagles Fly 🦅
Brian Dawkins is the eagles
Brian Dawkins carried the spirit of the NFL
Passionate Hard Nosed Football
back when football wasn't soft... Bob Sanders was still my favorite safety but Dawkins was a Gangster
greatest safety ever
Dude would hit the crap of you and say praise God or hallelujah. One of the best in his era
Dawk is my favorite player of all time and the reason I love football.
Umm…
Idk bout that!!
I think Ed Reed, Rod Woodson
Troy Polamalu, Ronnie Lott n that
Legion of boom cat might have a really good argument otherwise!! 💯
As a kid, looked up to this dude. He was a freaking idol to me. I'm almost 30 and I still watch his highlights from time to time.
Imagine if football wasn’t about wearing chains and being the richest player and crying about every thing.. oh ya it used to be
He literally could have played any position on the field that he wanted to. To be able to hit like that and still have hands and speed is insane.
Ed Reed: Best Safety Ever
Troy Polamalu: 2nd Best Safety Ever
B Dawk (Weapon X): Coolest and most bad ass personal favorite Safety
Fly Eagles Fly
Dawk is the city of Philadelphia in the flesh. The only way you can’t like him is if you were tackled by him or your name is Chris Cooley.
BDawk was a Freakin Savage Safety! Top 5 HOF for sure. Only Ronnie Lott, Ed Reed, Troy are ahead of him👍🏿
He looks like he can still play
Imagine him and ray lewis played together
When he came to the BRONCOS I I LOVED IT ONE OF THE BEST TO EVER PLAY !!
Yo the hit he laid on The Bus 💪🏾 stopping him in his tracks 😤😬
I miss having Dawkins on the Eagles. Jenkins was good/great, but Dawk was just plain great.
2:01 I cannot get over how musclier Bdawk’s neck and his intensity in explaining the hit …
As a Giants fan, I hated watching this man pulverize my favorite team….but I enjoyed the show he put on while doing it. We may never see his likes again.
0:57 young Sean Mcdermott lmao
"dawk day afternoon" that game in 2002 when he had a TD, a fumble recovery, INT, and a sack. Texans? Yeah they were an expansion team those guys still made it thru an NFL camp to make the roster.
The waterboy in real life 🤣
Dawk is the eagles defense
An absolute warrior
The German Suplex will forever be my favorite tackle by Dawkins
I’m from Britain and only been into NFL for couple years. See Brian Dawkins on life story’s and loved the way he played the game. So pissed I missed out the whole era. When players were real men.
True, check out some of the defenses of the 70s and 80s aswell. Especially steelers and vikings for 70s and cowboys for 80s. Some of the toughest mfs you can find.
@@Trent_Moorman Thanks for the recommendation as spongeing up all the football I can. Hate that the season takes so long to come round.
@@jackiekinner3826 if you want more eagles check out the buddy Ryan years. Buddy also started the 46 defense made famous by the Bears
The early 00s era NFL was something different man
💯 he was the City 🪖
He is my all time favorite player in nfl history
Dawkins and Ronnie Lott are my favorite safeties ever... hard hitters. Also Karl Joseph from WVU and Raiders...
Philly fans, close your eyes. Imagine, hearing "respect is EARNED DOG GONNIT!" Then hearing BG shouting "IM COMING FOR YOU 56.. ALL DAY BABY!" Man, if we even had ONE YEAR with those two....
0:53 why there's a Buffalo Bills HC in that huddle, he seemed happy
Dance moves look like Martin Lawrence on steroids
Him and Ed reed the best safeties of all time
Slurp juice
Psalms 41:1
Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble.
WOLVERINE!!!
FlyEaglesFly
Giant dude with a flip hat and a blazer knocking people out and saying "ya dig it?...he was like a 70s jazz singer that morphed into a steel missile.
Ed Reed is a beast! And he could never be replaced in Baltimore. With that said. Do you imagine if B.D played his entire career alongside of Rey Lewis?!?!? That would be a terrifying Defense to play against and PTSD for all Receivers!!
Favorite player of all time 🦅🦅
It’s funny that people now think NBA players could transition to the NFL. There’s no way that happens when you have killers like this on defense. And I’m saying this as a Cowboys fan, Dawkins was an animal. I respect that.
He has one of the most impressive D-plays I’ve ever seen before. He once blew up 3-Olinemen for the cowboys (like an old-school wedge buster) and made the tackle on the running back…
Dog Gonnit
I’m a lifelong bears fan but B. Dawk was always one of my favorite players. The intensity, the passion, how could u not root for this dude. I don’t think any player struck more fear in their opponents (in the 21st century) as much a weapon X did.
2:54 he seen Dawkins coming and he jus dropped it.. he didn't wanna get hit...
One of the best players in philly sports history
Man I was so bummed when he went to Denver.
Proverbs 15:16
Better is little with the fear of the LORD than great treasure and trouble therewith.
That's the mentality you want on your defense... if someone is in your area, they're not supposed to be there. That's YOUR area, no Trespassing, Beware of DOG!
Too bad any of these tackles will results in penalties nows...nfl...SOFT!
As a Dallas Cowboys fan. We don’t breed guys like that. Our culture hold us back. What a shame.
I got a question. Did he ever wrestle? Because I’ve seen plenty of football, and I’ve been wrestling all my life. Ik the difference between a tackle and a takedown. Almost looks like some of his tackles would have actual wrestling takedowns involved. One of them even look like a mma takedown
I wish ray lewis and this freak played together. Offenses would be calling timeouts just to calm down for a bit😂
Strong like ox, agile like cheetah. Had the pleasure growing up and watching this animal terrorize the field
The game is so watered down that you’ll never see great players like this because the NFL makes it impossible for guys like this to fully express themselves
Him and Ed Reed were my favorite safeties Ed Reed both hit and play coverage and both played on special teams
Pro Bowl plaque of Dawk sits on the wall right at the dinner table.
Every Eagles safety, & all safeties, for that matter, should watch this video & learn how to play the game the way this legend did!!!
The only guy that could take down dudes twice his size, when he would suplex a tight-end that was on some other SH!!!TT
The only dude to be represented at the linc by an opposing teams jersey. I mean....that doesn't tell you how much they respect weapon x idk what does.
For small size safety he hits harder than most normal sized safeties today
Brian Dawkins is the reason I'm a Eagle fan forever a Legend 🦅
Oh trust us dawk we love what you did on the field. Nothing better than old school football guys.
1:35….all you need to know about this man if you don’t already know
Yo born in jax raised in nbny bdawk my favorite eagle
One of the best hitting safeties of all time. There’s no more of them now a days!
They ain’t built like this no more… players nowadays too small
definitely my favorite eagle ever
his intensely is so fun
