    I love this because it highlights his coverage ability. People think at Dawkins was just big hits and crazy tackles, no, that was John Lynch.....Dawkins could actually cover.
    He inspired Reed to be the best and he gave Troy the blue print on how to be a hybrid safety.

      @@32SteamBoat Ikr?? The Eagles' have usually had a GREAT D-line (that helped them win the Super Bowl, mind you) & decent linebackers over the years, but their secondary has been VERY shitty for YEARS now... they've had a shitty secondary since Asante Samuel was last there in 2009. I have no fucking idea why the Eagles' front office doesn't do anything to fix this, when this has CLEARLY been their Achille's Heel for years now.

      I'm a former wr and I can tell you with all honesty, that when running a route and getting ready to catch the ball there was nothing that a receiver feared more than seeing or knowing that Brian Dawkins was somewhere on the field. You literally spent most of the time running your route actually thinking in the back of your mind And hoping that he was on the other side of the field or that maybe he forgot about you. No, I never played professional football. I've spoke too wide receivers who have and I've played on levels with players like him.

    Never has a city so loved a player the way Philadelphia so loved Brian Dawkins.
    It was an absolute privilege to watch and be inspired by #20 all throughout my childhood and into my adulthood.
    Sports matter and BDawk gave us all such pride to be an Eagles fans.
    Thank you Brian, deserved Hall of Famer

    Thank you for this video! My ex wouldn't allow me to watch football but when we split I picked Eagles from stats in a sports mag. (2002). My first jersey was #20 Dawkins. Little did I know at time I was cheering for a HOF player! (Still got jersey). Been an Eagles fan through good/bad years that paid off when they creamed NE 41-33. So thank you for highlighting DAWKINS with Philadelphia.

    The impact of this man. As I kid in Nashville I grew up watching the oilers and titans. Still a titans fan to this day. But I would always switch over the the eagles games to watch Dawkins. What a player. Much love and respect from a Titans fan.

    I hate making these kinds of statements...but...man, there will never be another player like Brian Dawkins. I grew up watching this guy early on his career as a bird...this dude is just fucking 500% intensity and heart. This guy is the pinnacle of competitors. The greatest safety to ever play the game, in my opinion. It may be bias growing up in Philly but this dude just epitomizes everything that makes a player transcend into true greatness.
    An absolute fucking wild animal on the field. They unleashed him and the results were just legendary.

      @KiloMafia9 6 років тому

      TSMPimpDaddyPain Like what category? Tackles? First off, interceptions>>>tackles. Tackles are an overrated stat especially since Reed played on better defenses and didn’t have to make as many tackles and Dawkins played a lot longer. Reed had twice as many interceptions despite playing 4 less seasons lmfao. And secondly, stats aren’t everything. Reed>>>>Dawkins. Not even close. Foh

    • @TSMPimpDaddyPain
      @TSMPimpDaddyPain 6 років тому +1

      @@KiloMafia9 like what I said the first time, EVERYTHING other than interceptions. Tackles, sacks, forced fumbles, pass deflections, QB hits, tackle for loss, fumble recoveries. Reed was a better pure ball hawk but Dawkins was the more complete, overall better player.

      It's called a force out, the ref would determine if a wr was going to catch the ball without being forced out of bounds by the defender it was considered a catch, they changed that rule a while back.
