How to read the bible for beginners and in it I give you 7 tips you need to know that will help you to read the Bible more effectively. I give a few tips on how you should study the bible to understand it better. The Bible is one of the oldest books in the world, but also one of the deepest. There is nothing wrong with the bible because it is inerrant AND God-breathed, but people can always interpret it the wrong way.
For example, some people might take the poems literary or the symbolism literally... As time goes on I will make more videos about the Bible. But for now, check out this video so that you will know how to read the bible as a beginner.

I'm born Christian but never in my life read the Bible in detail, but today I've decided to start reading bible right from the beginning, may the almighty God help me understand his word deeply.

It’s funny I would read your comment today, as I know many things about the Bible hearing things from my mother and grandmother but have never actually never read the Bible. There are so MANY names especially in Genisis, that it seems overwhelming. I just feel like I want to read everything Jesus has actually said first. Not that the rest is not important.

My grandma told me that you could read the entire Bible in one year by reading one chapter a day and five chapters on Sunday.

I'm 11, and I've been trying to learn more about God. Right now I have the KJV bible. I've recently asked God to save me and to give me courage to talk to my mother about getting baptized.

I don't know if you've already talked to her about it or anything since this was 8 months ago, but just in case, remember that baptization is not required for salvation, but that baptization is a declarence of your found salvation. It's like the cherry on top. God bless!

@@_A_G_1 I looked into this, and I found a source using John 3:16, Ephesians 2:8-9, Titus 3:5, the last two say that we are saved not through our own works/doings, but because of His grace and mercy. The non denominational church I go to supports the idea that baptism is simply the cherry on top, claiming that although baptism would be an act of obedience as Jesus commanded, it is not an act that saves you, or a requirement for salvation itself. It is also a public profession for one's faith in Christ.
There are quite a handful of verses that allude to baptism being necessary, although one source did say: "Those who refused to be baptized were saying they did not truly believe. So, in the minds of the apostles and early disciples, the idea of an un-baptized believer was unheard of. When a person claimed to believe in Christ, yet was ashamed to proclaim his faith in public, it indicated that he did not have true faith." This would lead to baptism being included in such verses.

As you said, some teach this and that about baptism, but I would suggest you start in the New Testament with John's gospel and in Ephesians, just a few chapters at least every day or evening, 3 from each should only take you less that a half hour a day. Read Ephesians every day after you read John it is only 6 chapters long but does tell you how one becomes saved in the 2nd chapter. Don't rush in till you see it clearly in the 2nd chapter. Before you start ask the Lord to open your heart and mind to the truths in his word. I am going to give you a wonderful teaching aid and have it open to the 2nd chapter of Ephesians verse 8 and I want you read verses 8-10 from this site and when it opens the first verse will be verse 8 and those that follow will be in other places and all the verses it shows will be on the same context as verse 8, do this and see the context of each text and references. It is a wonderful aid and will teach you to see each verse in context. Take your time and the Lord will teach you salvation comes by grace through faith from the word of God in the power of the Holy Spirit. www.openbible.info/labs/cross-references/search?q=Ephesians+2+8
The best tip is to ask the Holy Spirit to interpret the word of God for you, I find a lot of times people fall into error from reading commentaries... Be blessed my brother.
Agree! The holy spirit is given to lead us into all truth. If all bible readers sincerely sought the Spirit for interpretation we wouldn't have so many divisions
This is absolutely necessary because without the Holy Ghost to interpret the Bible, you cannot understand the things of God, it dosen't matter if you been reading it 50 years or 100 years. If you don't ask God to interpret the scriptures then you will be ever learning but never coming to a knowledge of the truth and going around in circles. This is what happened to the scribe and pharsiees of old, they leant on their own wisdom and understanding and did not ask God to help them to understand the scriptures and looked beyond the mark as a result Only the Holy Ghost can enlighten the eyes to reveal what God is saying. The Holy Ghost is necessary in order to learn the things of God for it is the interpreter of the things of God. The two disciples walking along the road with Jesus only came to know who Jesus was only after the Holy Ghost bore witness to them and the Spirit made their hearts burn.... (Luke 24:30-32) The Spirit of the Lord is not a loud voice or a harsh voice, it is a still small voice (1 Kings 19:12)
germanslice hey I have a question, I’m trying to read the Bible (starting in John) and I just feel like God isn’t speaking to me at all. I don’t even know if I have the Holy Spirit in me. It scares me a lot and each time I pray for understanding I don’t really see a difference. I don’t know what to do, thank you:)
@@Jrjejhbfh The Gift of the Holy Ghost is an Ordinance of God that is given by the laying on of hands after Baptism. (Acts 8:17) However the witness of the Holy Ghost can be felt from time to time like the wind coming and going without having the gift bestowed, but the witness is supposed to lead the believer or seeker of truth to being ordained by one having proper authority to recieve the more greater endowment of that light, to receive the gift and power of the holy ghost by the laying on of hands by those who have proper priesthood authority so it can be a constant companion in one's daily life as it is in mine..
Oh thanks, I guess the commentary books are more for a kind of literature knowledge, which is nice to have and learn, but i will defiantly pray and ask Holy Spirit to interpret the word of God to me going forward, thanks for the pointer! 🗯🤯
Good advice to read the Gospel of John first. That one focuses more on who Jesus is than what he did.
I just had an interesting thing happen. I am new to trying to read the Bible. I have the King James Version. When Daniel said to start with the New Testament, rather than the Old Testament, I went to my Bible to put my bookmark at where the New Testament starts. I opened my Bible without knowing exactly where the New Testament started, and I happened to open it right where the New Testament begins! I was definitely surprised. I feel like God guided me to where I needed to be. Praise God!

Don't deprive yourself of a good breakfast
If you want to be disciplined to wake up early and read the Bible all you have to do is ask the Lord to wake you in the morning what time He would like you to rise up to read his Word and give you a heart to want to read His Word every day and teach you what He is saying to you and how He wants you to apply His Word today to your life.
Ask according to His will and you shall receive.
It is God's will for you to be saved to the uttermost, then read His Bible, study it, pray to Him and let His Holy Spirit teach you, encourage you and comfort you.
His Word is a lamp unto your feet and a light unto your path.

Yeah, wake up, refresh, read the Bible and after that eat or sport or whatever activities all day. Before bedtime or after work/ activities read same Bible verse again. Emphasize about understanding the scripture not how fast you can read the whole Bible. Hope it helps

The Old Testament is about what was there, what became wrong/inadequate about it, and how it was going to be put right. The New Testament is about it being put right.

When I wake up in the morning the first thing I do is pray and give thanks to God for giving me life, for letting my feet touch the ground and for taking my first morning breath and opening my eyes. I thank God for showing me His loving kindness and his grace and mercy to wake up🙌🏼🙏🏼💞
I then listen to In Touch Ministries with Dr Charles Stanley - his sermons and Daily Devotional. When I open my Bible I let my heart and God's word guide me where I should go. It's up to me where I'm comfortable at in starting a chapter in my Bible. I had read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation

Five years ago I started to read Bible, we didn't have Torah in our house, I red Bible, but I didn't complete. Right now, I want to start with Genesis, I ordered Old Testament and New Testament in a one book. I have Old and New Testament on my IPhone but I want a copy so I ordered. I struggle reading the Bible, so this video helped me very well.
I would love to help many of you. I do not and cannot read my Bible. I am visually impaired. What I do is listen to my Bible and have been for more than 20 years. I normally listen to it in six months. Cover to cover. For the first time in my life I now have 31 people doing with me. How wonderful God is.! God bless you all

Daniel - having been a Christian for a long time, this is the BEST INTRO I have seen - speaking to new Christians. I like where you followed the statement "say it, show it" in video. I had to laugh when you "got up in the morning" to read your Bible. Great acting! I do that too....in the morning. I agree with starting with New Testament, especially with John. This is great! In showing what you say, reading quietly in your room, you showed the important thing: to pray first, and ask the Lord to show you what it all means (since he inspired it, he can!)
Thank you for emphasising context, (the rest of the chapter). We eventually learn to recognise all the other sections the bible has on any particular subject, so we don’t get a biased view on a topic. You are so right about not just picking one bit. I often wish they weren’t dotted about through all the bible!
We have to remember who wrote these words and when. It was a very different culture to ours and there are many things in the bible that seem strange before we discover what these things are. You’re right, a good concordance helps, and a commentary. The little references in small type are a help in finding what else the bible has to says on a subject. It’s a lot to weigh up, and there is no substitute for diving in.
I’ve found there are some useful reading plans that give you a structure to follow, with some Old, and some New Testament every day, and some psalms. This helped me not to get bogged down in the Old Testament too much. For me the biggest hurdle was wanting to do it all right, with reading plans and colouring, and then not getting started at all for a while, overwhelmed by not doing it right.
We must remember this is God’s way of speaking to us now, and with his help we will find him in the pages of the a bible. He promised that when we search for him with our whole heart, he will be found. I love that.
Also how do I know if I can trust my gf every time I see her she's on Facebook some guy called her out of the blue then I look at her friends list it looks like mostly dudes and maybe a few women but she's Catholic she acts strange sometimes saying what ever happened to her passion for me

The pandemic has reinforced and strengthened my Faith in God because as a child in the 1960s my Dad taught me about The Mark of The Beast and The Time of Tribulation,so I already knew a time of oppression and persecution was coming. But of course I grew up,the 60s turned into the 1970s,the decades went by,life followed it's course,much of humanity gleefully was going to hell in a handcart and all our media voices told us lies about the immense freedom we had to use drugs,alcohol,sex etc. I wasn't doing all that but all the cultural influences say all that was ok and I was the bad,weird one. I realized in the early 2000s that I didn't believe it anymore. And then it bloody well started happening!

Have accept jesus as my personal lord and saviour. And I just decided to read the bible in the morning when my heart is still fresh and also pray before reading his words. I will read the whole bible throughout this year both the new testament and the old testament. I pray may the holy spirit interpret his word to me and also give me the grace to understand and continue to serve him.

I finally started to read the Bible today, I don’t know if it’s the proper way but I really felt the words 😭 I started with Genesis and only read one chapter this day, I read it slowly, understood it (if not I will go back to a particular verse and repeat it a few times), visualise it (how God made the lights and so on. It’s really fun to think about it 💖), meditate on a verse that hit me which is “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness” in a way that I kept on repeating it on my mind and wow I won’t even be insecure anymore since God created me in his image and likeness 🙏💖
Also please give me tips on how to read it more better 🙏 I prayed before reading it for guidance and to lead me
Read Romans - Philemon 10 times. That is where our gospel and walk come from. Then read the rest.
FOUR QUESTIONS TO ASK TO UNDERSTAND OUR BIBLE:
When we read the bible there are 4 questions to ask, to understand what is being said. This is not some requirement but it is very helpful.
1. Who is talking?
2. Who is being talked to?
3. What is being said?
4. Can I put myself in this text as being the one being talked to?
Then the key is to NOT insert yourself into a passage you don’t belong in, one that is NOT talking to or about you.

SALVATION:
To clarify the gospel of our salvation: Our gospel that saves us today is to believe Jesus died, shedding His blood, was buried and rose from the dead for the forgiveness of our sins. I Cor 15:1-4. That's step one. Step two: We must put our trust in this gospel for the forgiveness of our sins and nothing else, to be saved. It's that simple. Paul puts it this way:
Eph 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
There is no need to repent, be baptized, walk an aisle, say a prayer, turn from our sins or confess with your mouth, to be saved. Those are all "works" salvation. We are saved by grace not works (Rom 11:6), through faith alone, in Christ work on the cross. It is a gift 100%. Eph 2:8-9; Titus 3:5-6, I Cor 15:1-4
Rom 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. He came to save sinners, not people trying to make themselves righteous by doing some kind of good work or turning from their sins, they can't that do anyway.
Simply believe and put your trust in the gospel Paul gave us from Jesus.
Then start reading Rom - Phil to understand what was written to us the body of Christ, so we could know what God wants from us and who we are in Christ, once we are saved. Then read the rest of your bible that is for us but not to and about us. 94% of the bible is to and about Israel. Don’t steal their mail and try to make it yours.

Am now 18yrs everything was moving well with my life at the age of 15yrs until this addiction came up and tried to destroy my life, I straggler with this addiction all my Godly life was doomed 😢 but now after watching this video it boosted me again and am trying my best to get closer to GOD ❤ Thank you brother
A good tip that I never hear anyone say is, get a bible that has book introductions. Such as a NKJV Classic Verse by verse reference bible (which is my main bible), or a study bible etc. There will be an introduction paragraph that basically gives information on what you are about to read and kind of sets the stage so you understand more about that specific story, who wrote it, what the book was meant for, people involved etc.. It opens up a lot of context for you to understand the point of the book that you are reading. Also another tip, get a GOOD bible, something that you will be happy and appreciate having and opening, something you can own for a long time and build memories in without it falling apart. The more time you put into your bible, the more character your bible will have with blemishes, notes etc. and you don't want your paper falling apart, and after a while, you know this is YOUR bible haha. Just silly things like this make it a delight reading the word. Also not all bibles have words of Christ in red, so someone like me makes sure that my bibles always have red letters, some people don't like the words being red etc. so just do some research on what you want in a bible :D, there are many different kinds so you should be able to find one that meets your specific needs/wants. In the end, we are all trying to learn and grow as believers in Christ, our ultimate goal is for the Lord to delight in us as his children and do what is pleasing in Gods eyes, also for us to have an awesome relationship with him. I began my intimate faith journey with God in 2019 but this is a great way to study the Bible and I will be putting these methods into practice.
If you are an absolute beginner, I'd recommend reading Genesis, and then the Gospel of Mark, then Colossians and Titus. Then read Matthew, John, Luke and then Acts and following with the rest of the New Testament. Use the KJV, NKJV, NASB95, ESV or CSB for good literal study. Use the NLT for easy reading and comprehension. God Bless!
Thank you for these amazing tips, I always get frustrated trying to read the bible because I never know where I am actually supposed to start, and starting with the New Testament actually makes a lot of sense.
My method is highlighters and pens, I have a good one that doesnt bleed through I also keep a notebook. I journal my prayers and my understanding. But I still need to find a church because I really want to get closer with God.

My suggestion is to start at genesis and read page by page. Don't get in a hurry stop and think about what you read before moving on. If you don't quit get a passage read it again. Pray before you start each time and ask God to help you understand. I think that you get better understanding of the new testament if you've read the old testament first. Don't make completing your reading of the bible your main priority but getting an understanding of the bible. It takes however long it takes, took me 5 years. After completing the bible you're not done yet. You can spend a lifetime studying it and I have never regretted it. Never saw the time spent as wasted. It has enriched my life in so many ways and given me peace.

Living in sin is different than committing sin. We all commit sin. Living in sin is living with someone in adultery, spending time online in porn, etc. Committing sin is something that happens in the moment. God will forgive but we need to learn from the sin and try to remove it from our life. No one is perfect but only need to ask for forgiveness and strive for improvement.
@JKM Guitar & Drummer, One thing to bear in mind, is that in being imperfect humans, we all are sinners. The only Perfect One, is God. He is incapable of Sin. But if you repent of your sins with a sincere and humble heart, and ask God for forgiveness and ask Him into your heart and into your life, He will forgive you. That however doesn't mean that you will stop sinning, or are incapable of sinning. But Jesus was crucified and His blood was spilled, so that men would not have to pay the terrible price for being sinners, just by virtue of being human. When you pray, you should always ask God to forgive you.
Just remember to approach God with a sincere and humble heart when seeking His forgiveness. God's blessings to you and your loved ones!

It resonated so much with me when I learned, the gospels - Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are the structure, the framework, of God's word. All the other books rest inside the framework of the Gospel.
