The grandmother death scene and the minute after that is one of the most heartwarming of all time 👌

In my take, Moana is the human version of Te fiti, who incarnated as a human to save herself

My take was that she was a descendent of Ta fiti. Especially with how her and her grandmother have a connection with nature and the ocean.

Did you catch that much of the music was written or co-written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, the composer of Hamilton? He also sang the English parts of We Know the Way (the ancestors' song). I'd love to see you react to Frozen and Frozen II, they are personally my favorite movies and some of my favorite songs.

Songs by Te Vaka (Polynesian fusion group that heavily influenced much of the film).

This was such an underrated Disney. I loved it. My kids watched it on repeat for months. It followed Frozen, which was a hard act to follow, but it remains one of my favourites. You will like Encanto. The music and the messages it conveys are simply beautiful.

      It's not underrated tho.

I haven't seen Frozen but perhaps it's more about "Frozen" being a bit overrated compared to these ones? Or am I totally wrong on this?😅

@@YBPlaysMusicFrozen gets bonus points for bringing the magic back to Disney. I do recommend it. It's a fun, old-fashioned style Disney for the modern generations. I personally prefer Encanto - I like music I can dance to - but I would happily watch Frozen again. So many layers to that movie. Keep an open mind and have fun with it. It's Disney. 🧚

Did you know that Skar produktions have a metal cover of a song from Moana? How far i’ll go, its sooo good. Skar are the bassist and does clean vocals for the band Equilibrium. And he’s from Norway, and has a lot of amazing covers on his channel 😀

Te Fiti is my favorite character and I love the fact that she's inspired of one of my country's islands named Huahine which has a mountain shaped as a woman lying down Motu Nui which means Big Island is inspired from Moorea another island of my country and Lalotai which means Under the Ocean the monsters' realm is inspired from what we called Te Po The Supernatural world and realm of the gods all supernatural beings good and evil live there and it was accessible through the ocean and rivers according to our myths😍😍and the Polynesian soundtrack and music were made by a Polynesian group named Te Vaka and they are from Tokelau and that's their language you heard Tokelau's language it's different from Hawaiian😁😁

Was on Huahine in 1973. Different then. Aita pea'pea. Spent that summer in Paea. No walls back then. Just chickens.

Like you, I've watched this for the first time a few weeks ago, and it blew me away. Best animated film I've seen, it was shocking how great it was; the story, the songs, I already watched it 3 times. It gets better each time. Details you miss.

Moana isn’t hawaiian she’s polynesian and that island doesn’t even look like hawaii 😅

Well Bella, is it so strange for me to think about Hawaii when I see this? I mean, you also see parts of Polynesian culture in Hawaii, right? I mean, the 2nd main character is named after one of the islands for goodness sake... And what do you mean the Island doesn't look like Hawaii? There are multiple islands of Hawaii with the one more tropical than the other and of course it doesn't look exactly like one of the islands when it comes to the shape, but the vibes, the vegetation, the wildelife etc are really similar imo.
